Quick answer: PvP in World of Warcraft: Forever runs on two tracks. Honor buys PvP gear. Rank Points raise your rank toward High Warlord or Grand Marshal, with a weekly cap.
The two tracks depend on each other. Honor is what you spend. Your rank decides which rewards you are allowed to spend it on. A character with plenty of Honor and a low rank can only buy low-rank rewards, so both have to grow together.
How to earn Honor in WoW Forever
Honor is a currency, and you earn it by taking part in PvP. You get it from these activities:
- Defeating other players
- Completing battlegrounds
- Finishing relevant PvP quests
A battleground featured for its holiday week awards extra Honor, so check the rotation before queuing. Honor gains are more evenly balanced across battlegrounds now, making Alterac Valley no longer the sole efficient option. Darkspear Islands benefits too; it is a new 15v15 battleground for levels 30-60.

Add to Google Preferences →Rank Points and the weekly cap
Rank Points move you up the classic PvP ranks from the original World of Warcraft. The top rank is High Warlord for Horde and Grand Marshal for Alliance. You earn Rank Points from battlegrounds and relevant PvP quests. Holiday-week battlegrounds give them an extra boost as well.
Ranks are capped each week. A new character starts at “Civilian” with “Rank Points: 0 / 750” on the Player vs. Player tab. The game explains the cap in plain terms: “Each week, the Rank Points cap is increased, up to a maximum of 24750 for Rank 14.”
Because the cap only rises week by week, reaching Rank 14 takes steady play over several weeks. You cannot get there in one long session.
PvP gear: blue set, epic set and Emboldened Seals
Honor buys two PvP gear sets. One is blue quality and the other is epic quality. You do not buy epic pieces outright. You upgrade them.
An epic upgrade takes the corresponding blue piece and an Emboldened Seal. Each Seal is available for purchase only once you reach its required rank. The epic upgrade tokens in the rank table below indicate when each slot becomes available.
New and reworked items give PvP options to specializations that previously had none. Shaman now have PvP sets for healer, melee, and caster roles.
WoW Forever rank rewards by rank
Each rank sets the requirement for a group of PvP item rewards. Once you reach a rank, its rewards become available to buy.
| Rank | Reward unlocked |
|---|---|
| Rank 1 | Tabard |
| Rank 2 | PvP Trinket |
| Rank 3 | Cloaks |
| Rank 4 | Necklace |
| Rank 5 | Combat Potions |
| Rank 6 | Tabard |
| Rank 7 | Battle Standard |
| Rank 8 | Epic Bracers / Epic Belt Upgrade Token |
| Rank 9 | Epic Boots Upgrade Token |
| Rank 10 | Epic Gloves Upgrade Token |
| Rank 11 | Mounts |
| Rank 12 | Epic Legs / Epic Shoulders Upgrade Token |
| Rank 13 | Epic Chest / Epic Helm Upgrade Token |
| Rank 14 | Epic Weapons |
A fresh character’s panel shows “Next Rewards at Rank 1: Faction Tabard”. On a Horde character it adds “Rewards may be purchased at the Hall of Legends in Orgrimmar.”
PvP vendors are temporarily unavailable
As of 5 November, PvP vendors in WoW Forever are temporarily unavailable in every location: Orgrimmar, Stormwind and Dalaran. Blizzard is tracking the problem with a fix planned, and the 6 November hotfixes left it unchanged. You can still earn Honor and Rank Points in the meantime, then spend Honor on PvP rewards at these vendors once they return.
How to check your PvP rank

If the rank on that tab has gone up and the reward list includes new items, the promotion has registered.
PvP seasons, weekly tasks and Legacy Points
During a PvP season, you climb the ranks and earn Honor. Each season also has a journey of weekly tasks. Completing them grants both Honor and Rank Points, so the tasks feed both tracks at once.
Three tasks each season also award a Legacy Point. These tasks are tied to the Legacy System, so you can still complete them in later seasons.
