Quick answer: Complete Legacy Challenges. Each one gives 1 Legacy Point, there are 65 in total, and the points are shared across every non-Hardcore character on your Battle.net account.
In World of Warcraft: Forever, challenges award Legacy Points across six categories: Classes (27), Tradeskills (18), Player vs. Player (12), Dungeons (3), Raids (3), and Adventure (2). One character can earn every point and receive all character benefits; alts are optional.
How Legacy Points work
The Legacy System stays locked until you earn your first Legacy Point. Most players get it when a character reaches level 25. Reaching 150 in a non-gathering primary tradeskill also unlocks it, and so does exploring the entire world map.
To open the system, click the Legacy icon (the shield on the menu) or press the default hotkey Y. The window is called Legacy Challenges, and it tracks your Legacy Points out of 65. When you complete a challenge, that count goes up by one.
- Your point balance is shared across the account, but each character allocates its own points among the Legacy Perk trees: Professions, Adventure, and Resourcefulness.
- At launch, one character can spend a maximum of 16 points.
- You can continue collecting points beyond the 16-point spend limit, up to 65. Your account total also unlocks Legacy Rewards.
- Legacy Points and collections earned under other rulesets do not transfer to Hardcore.

Legacy Rewards
Legacy Rewards unlock as your account’s point total grows, and they are separate from the per-character perk trees. Four rewards are available at launch:
- Replica Ironforge Air Rifle, a toy for shootouts with other players. It stuns other players and keeps score.
- Spectral Bear Cub, a pet.
- Spectral Bear Tabard.
- Reins of the Spectral Bear, a mount.
Blizzard intends to introduce more rewards through content updates. The bear mount joins the game’s other mounts.
FAQ
How many Legacy Points can one character spend?
Up to 16 at launch. Points earned beyond that still count toward your account total and Legacy Rewards.
Do Legacy Points carry over between characters?
Yes. Every non-Hardcore character on the account shares them, and each character spends them in its own perk trees.
How do you get the Spectral Bear mount?
Reins of the Spectral Bear is a Legacy Reward. It unlocks once your account has earned enough total Legacy Points.
