Pokémon Pokopia: Every Smoothie Recipe and How to Unlock the Blender

Every Bubbly Basin Smoothie mix, the Blender's cost, and the Mudkip request that unlocks it.

Every Bubbly Basin Smoothie mix, the Blender’s cost, and the Mudkip request that unlocks it.

Smoothies are the drink introduced with the Bubbly Basin DLC in Pokémon Pokopia, and they exist for one clear reason. Every Smoothie you drink powers up Surf, which lets Ditto transform into Lapras and use Surf while diving. That turns slow underwater travel into fast underwater travel, which matters when you are crossing Bubbly Basin over and over or heading into long caves.

Quick answer: Craft a Blender for 2 Pokémetal at the workbench after Mudkip gives you the recipe, then blend Watermelon Slices with a second ingredient to make any Smoothie. Every recipe starts with Watermelon Slices, which you get by having a Chop specialty Pokémon slice a whole Watermelon into three pieces.

Unlock the Blender in Bubbly Basin

The Blender is not found in the world or sold in a shop. You earn its recipe by progressing the Bubbly Basin story and then talking to a specific Pokémon.

Complete the “Build the beautiful building” Important Request in Bubbly Basin. This is the project where you help Popplio construct the Ocean Temple, which takes time because several Pokémon have their own requests before they agree to help.
Look for Mudkip swimming around with a speech bubble above its head. Talk to it, and Mudkip will mention it wants to try a new kind of food. That conversation automatically teaches you the Blender recipe.
Open the workbench and craft the Blender. It costs 2 Pokémetal.

The Blender is crafted with 2 Pokémetal once Mudkip hands over the recipe.

Once the Blender is built, place it on a table and you can make Smoothies whenever you want. To close out Mudkip’s request, blend any Smoothie and give it to Mudkip. You will know the unlock worked because the Blender appears in your craftable list and Mudkip’s request is marked complete after you hand over the drink.

Get Watermelon Slices first

Watermelon Slices are the base ingredient for every Smoothie, and a whole Watermelon will not go into the Blender on its own. You have to process it first. Give a Watermelon to a Pokémon with the Chop specialty, and it will cut the fruit into three Watermelon Slices.

Since one Watermelon yields three slices, it pays to plan around recipes that combine several ingredients, such as the Refreshing Soda Smoothie, if you want to get the most Smoothies out of a single batch. In Bubbly Basin, Carvanha is one of the Pokémon that can chop Watermelon for you.

Tip: Keep a small reserve of Watermelon Slices instead of using every piece right away. That way you can react to whatever second ingredient you happen to have when you want a specific Smoothie.

Every Smoothie recipe

Here are all of the Smoothie recipes you can blend. Each one still powers up Surf, so pick based on which ingredients you have and, if a Pokémon asks for a specific flavor, which taste you need.

SmoothieIngredients
Watermelon Smoothie3 Watermelon Slices, or 1 Watermelon Slice with any combination that does not form another recipe below
Leppa Smoothie1 or 2 Watermelon Slices + 1 or 2 Leppa Berries
Sea Grape Smoothie1 or 2 Watermelon Slices + 1 or 2 Sea Grapes
Refreshing Soda Smoothie1 Watermelon Slice + 1 Aspear Berry + 1 Soda Pop
Coffee Parfait Smoothie1 Watermelon Slice + 1 Simple Bread + 1 Moomoo Milk Coffee
Red-hot Smoothie1 or 2 Watermelon Slices + 1 or 2 Carrots, made with a Burn specialty Pokémon

The Watermelon Smoothie is the cheap default when you only need the Surf boost, because its flexible second slot accepts filler ingredients. Save the named recipes for when you actually want that specific flavor or want to spend the special ingredients on purpose.

The Red-hot Smoothie needs a Burn specialty Pokémon

The Red-hot Smoothie has one extra condition the others do not. You must be accompanied by a Pokémon with the Burn specialty while you blend it. Without that follower, the Watermelon Slices and Carrots will not become a Red-hot Smoothie.

In Bubbly Basin, both Frillish and Jellicent have the Burn specialty, so bring one of them along before mixing.

Why keep making Smoothies

The shared benefit across every recipe is powered-up Surf during dives, which speeds up exploring Bubbly Basin’s underwater areas and suits the Lapras transformation. The Blender also feeds into one of the Bubbly Basin habitats and helps you track down some of the new Pokémon added in the DLC, so it is worth keeping a batch of Smoothies ready before you set out on a long underwater route.
