PEAK Warp Fungus: How It Works and Where to Find It

The Warp Fungus teleports you to wherever it lands, making it a clutch tool for gaining vertical height on Ascent 8.

The Warp Fungus teleports you to wherever it lands, making it a clutch tool for gaining vertical height on Ascent 8.

The Warp Fungus is a rare throwable item added to PEAK with The Final Ascent update, and it does one very specific thing: it moves you across the mountain in an instant. If your stamina is gone and a ledge is still out of reach, a single well-aimed throw can close the gap. Here is exactly how it behaves, where it grows, and how to get the most out of your one shot.

Quick answer: Hold Left-Click to charge a throw, release to launch the Warp Fungus, and you teleport to wherever it lands. It is one-time-use, so aim it upward toward a safe spot to gain height, and never throw it into open air or a hazard.

Where the Warp Fungus spawns in PEAK

The Warp Fungus only grows in the ALPINE biome, which comes after ROOTS on the climb. It sprouts directly on the icy mountain walls you scale, and that placement is the main reason players miss it. Its texture closely matches the surrounding ice, so it blends into the surface unless you are looking for it.

Look for a strange, ball-shaped growth with a net-like pattern stuck to the wall. Two things make the search harder. ALPINE’s occasional blizzards apply the cold effect, and the biome is dotted with cold plants that obscure your view and are easy to mistake for the fungus. Grab the wall carefully and confirm what you are looking at before committing.

Spawns are limited. It is common to find only a single Warp Fungus during a full trip through ALPINE, so treat any one you pick up as a scarce resource rather than something to test casually.

How the Warp Fungus teleport works

The Warp Fungus is a one-time-use throwable. When you throw it, it travels through the air, sticks to whatever surface it hits, and immediately teleports you to that landing spot. You end up exactly where the fungus lands, which means your aim decides your destination.

Select the Warp Fungus and hold Left-Click to charge the throw. A longer charge sends it farther and higher, so gauge the distance to your target before releasing.
Aim at a solid, safe surface above or ahead of you. Because you warp to the landing point, a ledge or wall face you want to reach is the ideal target. Avoid throwing it past a cliff edge or into open air, since you will be sent wherever it stops.
Release Left-Click to throw. The moment it lands, you teleport. If you placed it correctly, you will find yourself at the new spot with the gap crossed. Since it is single-use, this is your only throw, so there is no retry with the same fungus.

When to save the Warp Fungus

Because you only get one throw and spawns are rare, the Warp Fungus is best held back for a moment when nothing else will save the run. The strongest use is a clutch escape from a stall, for example when hunger or injuries have drained your stamina to nothing and you cannot climb any higher on your own.

Throwing it high to grab vertical height is where it shines. A steep upward throw can carry you past a section that would otherwise be impossible with no stamina, and that can be the difference between stalling out and reaching the PEAK biome. On an Ascent 8 run, saving it for that single game-changing jump is the safest play.

Spotting the Warp Fungus is the hard part, so scan the ALPINE ice walls closely and confirm the net-like ball before you climb toward it. Once it is in your inventory, hold it in reserve, charge your throw with distance in mind, and aim it at a safe surface above you. Get that one throw right and you gain the height you need to keep moving toward the top.
