Both Prism Scale and Radiant Prism Scale come from the same place in Fisch, which makes farming them refreshingly simple once you know where to stand. They arrived with The Deep, the game’s underwater expansion, and the Radiant version is the one that actually gates some of the update’s best rods. Everything you need sits in a single zone with a single target fish.
Quick answer: Go to the Outer Deep, find the purple Formosa Seabass, and catch it with a harpoon gun on repeat. Each catch can drop a Prism Scale, and less often a Radiant Prism Scale.

Where both scales drop
The farm lives entirely in the Outer Deep, the deepest area added by The Deep update. You reach it by diving into The Deep, passing through the interior zones, and continuing out to the open Outer Deep water. The zone unlocks once you have access to The Deep, so you cannot farm these scales from the surface ocean or the shallower Deep City pools.
Your target is the Formosa Seabass, a purple fish listed in the bestiary as Unusual rarity. Both scales roll off this one species, so there is no second fish to chase. Prism Scale is flagged on screen as an “Extra Find,” while the rarer Radiant Prism Scale shows up as a “Rare Find.”

The harpoon gun is the fastest way to tag and land a Formosa Seabass, but it is not the only option. Ordinary rod fishing in the Outer Deep can also produce the scales, and a high-luck Deep rod works fine if you would rather not use the harpoon. The zone matters far more than the tool, so as long as you are pulling fish out of the Outer Deep, both scales are in play.

How to farm Radiant Prism Scale faster
Because both scales come from the same fish, raw catch volume is your only real lever. Radiant Prism Scale will always trail your Prism Scale count because it is the rarer drop by design, so budget for a longer session when the Radiant version is specifically what you need. A slow Radiant streak is normal rather than bad luck.
Drop rates for these scales are not officially published, so treat any percentage that flashes up alongside a catch as context for that specific notification, not a locked-in chance. What holds up in practice is the ordering. Regular Prism Scale drops noticeably more often than the Radiant version, so plan around how many fish you can harpoon rather than a fixed number.
Note: Prism Scale has nothing to do with the Prismize or Prismatic mutations. Those come from the Ethereal Prism Rod and are a completely separate system, so do not expect the scales to influence mutations on your catches.
What Radiant Prism Scale crafts
Radiant Prism Scale is an endgame material tied to several of The Deep’s best rewards. The headline use is the Cusk Purger, crafted at the Crafting Anvil inside the Ancient Archives. It is also a turn-in for questlines, so it is worth banking a buffer before you commit to any single craft.
| Use | Radiant Prism Scale needed |
|---|---|
| Cusk Purger (Ancient Archives) | 2 |
| Dr. Vane’s Luminous Rod quest | 1 |
| Sightless Oracle Harpoon quest | 5 |
| High-tier Harpoon Gun recipes | 3 |
The full Cusk Purger recipe pairs the scales with Monstrous Cusk Teeth, Abyssal Biofluid, Ancient Bones, Hardened Chitin, the Line of the Deep, and 750,000 C$. The Line of the Deep itself also asks you to turn in Radiant Prism Scales during the Cartographer quest, so a single build can draw the material from more than one place at once.
Tip: Farm a stockpile before you start crafting. The Cusk Purger, Dr. Vane’s Luminous Rod quest, and the Sightless Oracle Harpoon all pull from the same Radiant Prism Scale pool, so a few spares mean one craft won’t wipe you out.

Common farming mistakes
The biggest time-waster is fishing in the wrong place. These scales only come from the Outer Deep, so if you are not seeing purple Formosa Seabass, you are in the wrong zone. Move deeper until the location label confirms you have arrived.
- Camping one spot instead of rotating between spawns, which cuts your catch rate.
- Confusing Prism Scale with the Prismize or Prismatic mutation system, which is unrelated.
- Expecting Radiant Prism Scale to drop as often as the plain Prism Scale.
Stick to the Outer Deep, keep circling for fresh Formosa Seabass, and let the “Rare Find” notification tell you when a Radiant scale lands. The plain Prism Scale will pile up quickly along the way, so the length of any run comes down to how many Radiant scales your target craft demands.
