Palworld Immortality Passive Explained (v1.0.3 Update)

The skill's tooltip was rewritten in the latest patch, but its stats and behavior stay identical, so there's no reason to re-breed your Pals.

The skill’s tooltip was rewritten in the latest patch, but its stats and behavior stay identical, so there’s no reason to re-breed your Pals.

After the v1.0.3 update landed, the Immortality passive skill in Palworld started showing a new, alarming tooltip. Players saw wording about absorbing all incoming damage and quickly assumed the skill had been reworked. The stats behind it never moved. Only the description on screen was rewritten, and it now reads inaccurately.

Quick answer: Immortality still gives Life Steal +5.0%, Pal Auto Health Regeneration Rate +100.0%, and Attack +15.0% in v1.0.3. The tooltip text changed and is now misleading, but the actual effect is unchanged. You do not need to re-breed any Pals.

What Immortality actually does

Immortality is a Rainbow-tier (Tier 4) passive skill introduced with the 1.0 release. It only carries positive effects, with no downside attached. Its real values are unchanged after v1.0.3.

EffectValue
Life Steal+5.0%
Pal Auto Health Regeneration Rate+100.0%
Attack+15.0%

Why the tooltip looks like a rework

In v1.0.3, the in-game tooltip for Immortality now displays this text: “Absorbs 100.0% of damage dealt and restores Health. Pal Auto Health Regeneration Rate +100.0%. Attack +15.0%.” The first line is where the confusion comes from. It suggests full damage negation, which the skill has never provided.

The healing portion of Immortality is still Life Steal, and it is still 5%. The description was simply reworded and does not match how the skill behaves. The health regeneration bonus and the attack bonus continue to read correctly at +100% and +15%.

Note: The official v1.0.3 patch notes do not list any balance change to Immortality. The update focused on progression tweaks, resource gathering, base production, and a long list of crash and bug fixes, not on adjusting this passive.

How to confirm it still works

You can verify the true behavior in a normal-mode boss fight. Against Victor & Shadowbeak, which has 100,000 HP, a Pal carrying Immortality heals in chunks of roughly 5,000 HP while dealing damage. That is exactly 5% of the damage dealt, confirming the Life Steal value has not moved.

If the tooltip’s “absorbs 100% of damage” line were accurate, the Pal would take no damage at all and heal on a completely different scale. It does not. The regeneration rate and attack bonus also behave as their listed +100% and +15% values. The only thing wrong here is the display text.

How to get Immortality

Immortality is a Rainbow passive, so it comes from a small set of high-rarity sources. There are four ways to add it to a Pal.

MethodDetails
Ancient Relic RecyclerProcessing Ancient Relics can yield the Immortality Implant. A Decayed Ancient Relic has a 3.888% chance; rarer relic grades raise the odds.
Mutated EggsA Pal hatched from a Mutated Egg can roll a Rainbow passive, including Immortality.
Sparkling Fishing PalsA purple sparkling Pal at a Fishing Spot ranked Master or higher can carry a Rainbow passive, including Immortality.
BreedingOffspring can inherit Immortality from a parent that has it. Inheritance is random and can take many attempts.

To apply an Immortality Implant recycled from a relic, you need a Pal Surgery Table built at your base. Interact with it to modify a Pal’s passive skills using the implants you have collected. When the skill is attached, it appears in that Pal’s passive list, and its bonuses apply in combat exactly as described above.

The bottom line is simple. Nothing about Immortality’s power changed in v1.0.3. If your Pal army already runs it, keep using them as-is and ignore the reworded tooltip until it gets corrected.
