Genshin Impact: How to Complete the Down in the Dumps Quest

Down in the Dumps is the third subquest in the In the Dwelling of Life chain, added with Genshin Impact 7.0. It drops you into a flooded sewer and asks you to solve a short series of puzzles, gather three keycards, and open a control room that leads back to the surface.
Quick answer: Read Doctor Moreau’s book to see where the Blue, White, and Red keys are, collect all three, slot them into the control board by the sealed gate, then defeat Klenova the Ascended to get the Sewer Lift Control Wheel and ride the elevator up.
How to unlock Down in the Dumps
The quest starts on its own the moment you finish the previous subquest, Transplanted From “Yesterday” to “Tomorrow”. There is nothing extra to accept from an NPC. After that mission ends, you fall into the sewer and Down in the Dumps begins automatically.
Leave the room you land in and follow the path down. Use the grapple mark on the wall to reach the upper level, then pick up the Exquisite Chest along the way.
Hold the interact button on the Rotary Mechanism to open the first gate. In the next room, grab the wheel from the nearby crate and use it on the second mechanism.
Break the wooden crates floating in the water. Place a Grappling Gun in the middle of the water so its hook pulls the wooden board toward the far side.
Step onto the board, then remove that first Grappling Gun. This lets the second Grappling Gun pull the board the rest of the way into the next room.
Read the control room book for the key locations
Inside the control room, interact with the book on the table in the corner. This is the Sewer Entrance and Exit Guide left by Doctor Moreau, and it marks the spots of the three keys you need to open the gate ahead.

Collect the Blue, White, and Red keys
Your Goggles detect the Blue Key right away. The White and Red keys are locked behind puzzles that the Blue Key opens up, so start with the blue one and work through the rooms in order.
Construct a Cube under the gate, then pull the Blue Key back out. The gate gets stuck instead of closing fully, so you can slide through the gap with the key still in hand.
On the other side, insert the Blue Key into the device on the right to partly drain the flooded room. Remove it, drop down to the lower device, and insert it again before the water rises. This opens the way to the White Key.
Head back to the flooded room and insert the White Key into the left device. Let Paimon fetch the Blue Key from the lower device, then reinsert it into the right device.
Follow the newly opened path at the bottom until you reach a room with several Leshy. Climb the platform on your left and pick up the Red Key next to them.
Defeat the awakened Leshy, then return through the upper level and collect the White and Blue keys again so you have all three.
Open the control room door
Carry all three keys back to the sealed gate and slot them into the control board beside it. With the Blue, White, and Red keys in place, the door opens and lets you push further into the sewer.
Beat Klenova the Ascended and reach the surface
In the next room, the Rotary Mechanism by the gate is missing its control wheel. Your Goggles spot the wheel on the head of a Leshy sitting inside a capsule. You cannot climb its body to grab it, so you have to wake it up and fight.
Shoot the Leshy to start the fight. This one, Klenova the Ascended, hits harder and is more aggressive than the earlier Leshy, so go in ready for a longer battle.
Defeating Klenova the Ascended drops the Sewer Lift Control Wheel where it falls. Pick it up and fit it onto the Rotary Mechanism to open the gate to the lift.
Grab the Luxurious Chest in the room, then ride the elevator up and follow the stairs. Reaching the surface completes Down in the Dumps.
Note: If the wheel does not appear after the fight, make sure Klenova the Ascended is fully defeated and check the exact spot where it dropped before reloading the area.

With the elevator ride done, you close out the third leg of the In the Dwelling of Life chain and can move on to the rest of the Snezhnaya content in version 7.0.
