Forbidding Doors of Melancholy is the fifth part of the In the Dwelling of Life quest chain in Genshin Impact 7.0. It sends you into the Okurovo assembly hall, where a boss fight and a set of construction puzzles stand between you and the door leading “home.”
Quick answer: Finish Back on One’s Feet to unlock this quest, beat Furiosa on the bridge, use Grappling Guns and a Cube to move the chandeliers, dial, and curtain, then defeat the Leshies in the trap room and place Nastya’s item on the pedestal to complete it. Rewards are 50 Primogems, 4 Mystic Enhancement Ore, 5 Hero’s Wit, and 54,500 Mora.
How to unlock the quest
You must complete the prerequisite quest, Back on One’s Feet, before this one becomes available. Finishing it activates the lift that reaches the Assembly Hall, and the new quest begins on its own once you take that lift up.
The direct route to the hall is sealed by a large block of ice that ordinary heat sources cannot melt. Wrap around the left side of the iced-over buildings to find the path, and activate the Teleport Waypoint you pass on the way before you follow Nastya to the hall.

Add to Google Preferences →Defeat Furiosa on the bridge
As you cross the bridge to the hall, Furiosa appears and blocks the way. You have to beat her to move on. The arena has enough healing and ammo drops to keep you supplied through the fight, so play it patiently.
| Threat | What to do |
|---|---|
| Ranged shots | Hide behind the wooden crates for cover, then peek out to return fire. |
| Arrow rain | Strafe, sprint, or dodge sideways to escape the marked area. |
| Damage reduction | When she summons spires, shoot and break them to stun her and remove the defense buff. |
| Health | Approach the green orbs to recover when you take damage. |
Combining the grenade launcher with Granatite-style grenades adds elemental reaction damage and the lingering area effect keeps pressure on her. Once she falls, push open the gate and continue up to the Assembly Hall with Nastya.
Get inside the Assembly Hall
Inside, you will find a Precious Chest and a Teleport Waypoint. Both the main door and the metal door in the right hallway are locked. Examine the metal door on the right, then return to the main door and inspect the crack near its bottom.

Nastya crawls through the gap and opens the metal door on the right from the other side. Enter through there and meet her to continue.
Move the curtain with the chandeliers
The curtain is controlled by a switch on the upper floor. You reach it by turning a chandelier into a makeshift elevator using the Grappling Gun. Building one requires 30 Eternal Ice and consumes 5% of Kresnik Energy.

Reach the second curtain switch

Activate both switches at the same time
Pulling the second switch alone will not raise the curtain. Both mechanisms have to trigger together. Interact with your switch, select Ready Up, and wait for Paimon’s countdown.
Pull the mechanism the moment Paimon says “One.” If you time it right, both sides fire at once and the curtain opens to reveal a peculiar dial mechanism behind it. Jump back down and regroup with Paimon and Nastya in the area behind the curtain.

Solve the dial puzzle to reach the door home
The quest now updates to “Head to the door leading to home.” You need to lock the dial into the correct position using a Grappling Gun and a Cube. The Cube costs 20 Eternal Ice and 5% of Kresnik Energy.

Investigate the strange room
The elevator brings you to another door. Push it open and head into the room with Nastya, then interact with the three quest objects to trigger the next event.
| Object | Where to find it |
|---|---|
| Less-Than-Legible Notes | Books on the floor on the left side, near Nastya. |
| Yellowed Records | A notebook on the table toward the center or left of the room. |
| Pedestal / console | Follow the path on the right side up to the raised area at the back, then examine it. |
A Precious Chest sits on the upper floor near the pedestal, so grab it before you interact with the console.
Cover Nastya and disarm the trap
Examining the pedestal springs a trap. You are locked behind bars while the Leshies in the room come to life and attack Nastya. Shoot the enemies from inside the cage to protect her as she works toward you.
The assault rifle handles the smaller enemies well thanks to its fire rate, while the grenade launcher deals with the larger ones. Clear all the waves until Nastya reaches you and tosses in the item she found.
Pick up the item and place it on the pedestal. This deactivates the trap, and the slab in the center of the room slides away to reveal a hidden set of stairs. A short cutscene and some dialogue with Nastya close out the quest, which then starts the follow-up mission To Rest in a Forgotten Field.
Completion rewards
You know the quest is finished when the completion screen appears after your conversation with Nastya and the To Rest in a Forgotten Field mission begins. The full rewards are listed below.
| Reward | Amount |
|---|---|
| Primogem | 50 |
| Mystic Enhancement Ore | 4 |
| Hero’s Wit | 5 |
| Mora | 54,500 |
From here, follow To Rest in a Forgotten Field a little further to wrap up the In the Dwelling of Life questline.
