It sends the Traveler to Pilgrimage to the Sacred Gorge in northern Snezhnaya to summon a hidden train, walk through a series of eerie interior rooms, and finally reach the Pale Crown Palace with a fragment of the Eye of Graeae’s power in hand.

This quest becomes available only after you have progressed far enough in the Snezhnaya story to reach the point where the train can be boarded. Completing the earlier questlines that restore the Eye of Graeae’s fragments is what opens the northern White Birch Snowgrave region, and the On One Side a Palace, On the Other a Tomb chain begins once that route is accessible.

Once the region is open, the quest itself starts the moment you interact with the Statue of The Seven at Pilgrimage to the Sacred Gorge. There is no NPC to talk to first, so simply arriving and tracking the statue triggers it automatically.

Where to start and how to summon the train

Pilgrimage to the Sacred Gorge sits in the northeastern part of Snezhnaya. Unlock the teleport waypoint near the chapel, then make your way toward the White Birch Snowgrave Statue of The Seven. If the path is blocked by a large ice wall, use the Prime Ice Construct menu to remove the blockade and push on through the snowstorm.

Follow the Seelie beside the Statue of The Seven, or head up the stairs past the statue if none appears. Clear any ice in your way, glide down to the elevator, and continue north toward the marked tower.

Climb the tower to reach the console. Open the Precious Chest at the top before you do anything else so you don’t miss the reward.

Select Place at the console to set down the Eye of Graeae. This summons a train that will carry you toward the Pale Crown Palace.

Glide down to the station below and board the train. Choose Sit so the Eye of Graeae (also referred to as the Goggles) can start it moving.

Tip: Before boarding, this stretch of Pilgrimage to the Sacred Gorge holds several Cryoculi around the entrance, the broken train, the front of the train, near the statue, north of it by the treasure trove, and on a tower to the west reached with a link mechanism. Grab them now while you are here.

Investigate the strange space and its rooms

While the train runs, you slip into a strange space where two figures, Izmaylov and Azazel, are discussing the newly appointed Tsaritsa. After their conversation ends, follow the marker into a well-lit room to begin investigating.

Interact with the noticeboard and read the Message left by Pavlina.

Go to the bowl on the nearby table and pick up its contents. This gives you the Snegovik Laboratory Key along with Cat Food, which you will need later.

Follow the marker to the next room and use the Snegovik Laboratory Key to unlock the door. Inside, select Investigate on the table with Prime Ice on it. The ice breaks and reveals a set of notes.

Read the notes sealed in the Prime Ice by choosing Someone’s Notes. A faint meow will sound from the other side of the room right after.

Head to the mountain painting on the wall and shake it repeatedly until the frame drops and uncovers a hidden passage. Drop through and interact with the cat on the other side. The entrance closes behind you as soon as you land.

Complete the experiment to leave the sealed room

With the doors shut, you need to finish a short experiment before the room will let you out. The puzzle has no wrong answer, so it moves quickly once you know what to press.

Investigate the message board near the cat’s original spot to view the Unnamed Potion Formula. This flags the experiment as your next task.

Go to the experiment table and investigate the scale. Select any three items from the tray. Every option leads to the same result, so the reagent bottle, paper, empty cup, ore, silver blade, or yellow crystal all work.

Let the cutscene play out as the items mix per the formula and the scale pointer falls off. You receive a key and a Precious Chest, then you can leave the room.

At the door in front of the staircase you run into Vsevolod behind the gate. Place the Cat Food in the food bowl. The cat knocks a potion bottle off the table, Vsevolod rushes in, and the door opens.

Reach the second floor and the snow-covered palace

Head inside and climb the stairs to the second floor. As you go up, a familiar female voice starts a cutscene, showing a flashback of Aksinya speaking with the Eye of Graeae before you come back to your senses on the train.

Back on the train, Paimon and the Goggles ask what happened. After the Traveler explains, the train reaches its destination.

Head into the snow-covered palace and run up the flights of stairs. Reaching the top completes To Gaze Upon the Dreaming Pale Crown and rolls you into the next quest, The Stone Beasts, Like Ghouls Seated.
