Chapter 2 of The Sinking City 2 scatters 16 pieces of evidence across four main areas as you work toward rescuing the woman at the Devil’s Reef Hotel. Everything here is missable, and once the chapter ends, you cannot return, so it pays to sweep each location before moving on.

Quick answer: The 16 clues are spread across the Church grounds and crypt, Sentinel St., the Printing House, and the Devil’s Reef Hotel. The chapter’s investigation group closes when you connect the “Baby, One More Tide” Lyrics with the Safe Code Letter on the board.

Church grounds and crypt (evidence 1–7)

The Church holds the densest cluster of clues. Start inside, then sweep the surrounding block and the crypt before heading north.

Enter the Church and head upstairs. Take “A Call Upon Believers” from the altar. On the balcony, grab “Origins of the Redemption Church” from a stand. That note names 1667 as the year the church was built, which you’ll need for the Floodgate Lock puzzle.

Go outside and around to the west, toward the locked floodgate controls. The “Floodgate Lock” note sits on a wooden table here. Pick up the nearby Star Key while you’re there, since several later doors need it.

Step into the side room north of the Church and take “Notes on the Path” from a round table.

Head into the crypt east of the Church. Take “The First Vision” from a red casket, then collect the “Letter to Boss” evidence and Printing Plate C from a stone sarcophagus.

Return to the Church balcony and climb the ladder to the attic. Use the Star Key on the locked door to reach “Report on the Bell” and the Trident. Stash the Trident in the safe room for the Church Obelisk puzzle later.

Sentinel St.: The rooftop and Saloon (evidence 8–9)

Near Sentinel St., look up at the rooftops. Shoot the monster perched on a roof to unlock the “A Broken Crane” evidence.

Enter the Saloon on Sentinel St. and check the counter for the “Soggy Note” and the Graveyard Key.

Printing House (evidence 10–11)

Drop into the Printing House basement to find the “Incident During Study” note.

Climb the outdoor ladder near the Printing House. At the top, you’ll find Printing Plate B alongside the “About the Custom ‘Red’ Franklin” evidence.

Devil’s Reef Hotel (evidence 12–16)

The final five clues are all inside the hotel, moving from the lobby down to the basement and up to Room 303.

In the lobby, take the “Hotel Ledger” from the front desk.

Enter the first-floor room to pick up the “Baby, One More Tide” Lyrics. This is one half of the board pairing you’ll need at the end.

Head to the basement and inspect the locked door to unlock “The Lorelei Lock” evidence.

Open the hotel Staff Room to find the “Lorelei Chests” note and the Lorelei Token.

Go to Room 303 and search the corpse for the “Safe Code Letter.” This is the second half of the final board link.

Closing the investigation group

Once you have all 16 pieces, open the investigation board and connect the “Baby, One More Tide” Lyrics to the Safe Code Letter. The two link together and complete the chapter’s evidence group.

Before you leave the area, open the map and confirm every location marker is filled in. There is no chapter select, so anything you skip is gone for that playthrough. New Game Plus only carries over learned talents, meaning any missed evidence has to be recollected from scratch. If a clue looks absent, backtrack while you still can within the current chapter.
