Fields of Mistria: How to Cook Pudding

Unlocking the recipe means farming Shiny Beads from your animals and offering them at Sweetwater Farm's Chicken Statue.

Unlocking the recipe means farming Shiny Beads from your animals and offering them at Sweetwater Farm’s Chicken Statue.

Pudding is one of the odder recipes to chase in Fields of Mistria. The ingredients are cheap and the cooking time is short, but the recipe itself is not sold anywhere and no villager hands it to you for finishing a request. It only comes out of the Chicken Statue on Sweetwater Farm, and only as a random reward.

Quick answer: Offer 10 Shiny Beads to the Chicken Statue on the western half of Sweetwater Farm until the Pudding recipe drops, then cook it at a Tier 1 kitchen with Cooking level 10 using 2 Chicken Eggs, 1 Sugar, and 1 Milk.

Pudding recipe requirements and stats

Pudding sits in the Desserts category under the Candy subtype. It is a level 10 cooking recipe, which is the real gate here — plenty of players get the recipe from the statue long before they can actually prepare it. The kitchen requirement is low, so the free stove at the Sleeping Dragon Inn works fine if you have not bought a Tier 1 kitchen from the Carpenter’s Shop yet.

Pudding ingredients and where to source them

Three ingredients, all of them things a working farm produces on its own. If you are still animal-free, Balor’s wagon sometimes stocks eggs and milk, and you can adopt animals from Hayden and breed them at home.

How to unlock the Pudding recipe from the Chicken Statue

Everything runs on Shiny Beads, and Shiny Beads come from a Ranching skill. There is no shortcut and no vendor alternative, so the fastest path is getting the drop rate turned on early and letting your animals do the work.

Learn the Currency of Care skill under Ranching at the skill statue. Once it is active, your farm animals have a chance to drop a Shiny Bead whenever they eat.

Push the skill further if you want beads faster. Currency of Care 2 adds a chance for beads the day after you feed and pet your animals, and Currency of Care 3 lets you feed them cooked dishes, with the yield scaling to the dish’s star level.
Head to the western half of Hayden’s Sweetwater Farm, just west of your own land, and find the Chicken Statue standing in the open field.

Offer exactly 10 Shiny Beads. That offering size pulls from the loot pool containing the Pudding, Deviled Eggs, and Omelet recipes. Repeat in batches of 10 until Pudding appears.

Note: Do not dump 100 beads in at once. A 100-bead offering rolls on a completely different reward table, and Pudding is not on it.

Cooking Pudding and confirming it worked

Once the recipe is yours, it stops being locked in the cooking menu — the padlock icon over the entry disappears. That is your confirmation that the statue actually gave you Pudding and not one of the other rewards.

Walk up to any kitchen and interact with it. The stove at the back of the Sleeping Dragon Inn’s bar works if you do not own one, since a Tier 1 kitchen is all Pudding needs.
Select Pudding from the recipe list and check the numbers on the right. Ingredient counts and the skill and kitchen requirements show in green when you meet them, and red when something is missing.
Set how many batches you want, then confirm. Each batch eats 20 minutes off the clock, so a large order can swallow a real chunk of the day.

Why Pudding may still be greyed out

  • Your Cooking skill is below level 10. The recipe can sit in your book long before you can use it.
  • You are short on eggs. Pudding needs two Chicken Eggs, not one.
  • There is not enough time left in the day to finish the batch you selected. Lower the quantity.

Buying Pudding from Darcy instead

If you need Pudding in hand and the statue has not cooperated, Darcy’s café at the Saturday Market sometimes stocks it for 220t. Her ready-made items stay permanently available, though the exact lineup rotates week to week, so it is worth checking the stall each Saturday. Buying the finished dessert does not teach you the recipe — that still only comes from the statue.

Beyond the 46 Health and Stamina it restores, Pudding is a liked gift for Dell, Eiland, and Maple, and Eiland’s Request for Pudding cannot be completed without it. Like other cooked dishes, it can also come out infused with bonus properties. It is a light snack rather than a mining trip staple, so keep something heavier like Pumpkin Stew or Grilled Cheese in the bag for long days underground.
