The August 19 downtime runs three hours and takes Ultimate Team, Clubs, and online friendlies offline across FC 26, FC 25, and FC 24.

EA Sports pulled the plug on FC 26’s online services this morning for a scheduled maintenance window, and it is the kind of downtime that hits everything you actually connect to. Ultimate Team, online friendlies, and Clubs all sit behind the same servers, so there is no partial workaround while the work is happening.

Quick answer: Online services are scheduled to come back at 11:00 UTC (12pm BST / 7am EDT / 4am PDT) on August 19, three hours after the maintenance began at 08:00 UTC.

The downtime covers FC 26 and FC 24 from 08:00 to 11:00 UTC. FC 25 gets a shorter window and is due back an hour earlier, at 10:00 UTC. Match creation was switched off 30 minutes before each start time, so matchmaking on FC 26 stopped working at 07:30 UTC.

EA has not published a reason for the work, and no patch has been tied to it. Treat the 11:00 UTC end time as an estimate rather than a promise. FC maintenances typically run one to four hours, and they occasionally overrun.

What stops working during the downtime

The maintenance affects FC 26, FC 25, and FC 24 on all platforms. If you are already signed in when the window starts, you can be disconnected mid-session, and any attempt to search for a match will fail.

  • Ultimate Team, including squad-building and market access
  • Online friendlies and any matchmaking-based mode
  • Clubs and other modes that need a live server connection
  • General sign-in to online services on the affected titles

Note: EA splits its servers into two groups, PlayStation and PC on one side, Xbox and Nintendo Switch on the other. This particular window is listed for all platforms, so there is no console that escapes it.

How to tell when FC 26 servers are back online

There is no announcement you need to wait for. The in-game maintenance message is the signal, and once it stops appearing at launch you are through.

Fully close FC 26 rather than leaving it idling on the error screen. A client that was running before the servers went down will often keep serving you a cached failure.
Relaunch the game after 11:00 UTC and let it reach the main menu. If the maintenance notice no longer appears at sign-in, the servers are accepting connections again.
Open Ultimate Team and start a match search to confirm. Match creation is the last thing restored, so a successful search is the clearest proof the window is genuinely over.

If you still get the maintenance screen after the stated end time, the window has been extended. The in-game message will carry the revised estimate; there is nothing to fix on your end and repeated sign-in attempts will not speed it up.

What you can still play while the servers are down

Offline modes are untouched. Manager Career runs entirely on your console or PC and needs no server connection, which makes it the obvious place to spend three hours if you had planned a session.

The Web App and Companion App are also worth a look for squad admin and SBC work. FUTTIES SBCs are currently repeatable without a limit, so you can churn through them, but be careful with how fast you submit. Rapid, repeated actions can trigger a temporary soft ban on your account.

Scheduled maintenances like this land roughly 20 times a year on FC titles, usually in the early European morning to keep disruption low. There is no confirmed date for the next one yet, but the pattern holds: match creation goes first, the window opens 30 minutes later, and everything comes back at once when the work is done.
