Mortal Shell 2: How to Cleanse the Chamber of the Forsaken Beacon

Sever the pod, clear the red phantoms, and revitalize the crystal to finish this Unfound Path beacon.

Sever the pod, clear the red phantoms, and revitalize the crystal to finish this Unfound Path beacon.

The Chamber of the Forsaken is one of the final beacons in Mortal Shell 2, tucked inside the endgame region known as the Unfound Path. Reaching it puts you at the tail end of the beacon checklist, and cleansing it follows the same loop as every other beacon dungeon: fight through the enemies, break the corruption blocking the path, then revitalize the crystal at the end.

Quick answer: Fight through the dark cavern of spider-like and flying enemies, interact with the hanging fleshy pod and choose SEVER, cross the foggy platform into the crimson cave, clear the red phantoms, then approach the red crystal and select REVITALIZE BEACON. The BEACON CLEANSED prompt for the Chamber of the Forsaken confirms it is done.

Where the Chamber of the Forsaken sits

The Chamber of the Forsaken is beacon number 47 in the full beacon list, placed within the Unfound Path, the game’s last dungeon. It sits near the Empty Cradle beacon in the same area. Like the other beacons in this region, it starts inactive and must be revitalized before you can cleanse it and claim its Ova.

None of the beacons in Mortal Shell 2 are missable. If you skip this one, you can return in free-roam after the final boss and finish it before choosing to start New Game+. Cleansing every beacon is what completes the So Fresh, So Clean trophy, and the Ova you gather here feed into Bring My Ova Back to Me.

Cleanse the Chamber of the Forsaken step by step

Rest at the entry beacon, then head through the narrow stone passage into the dark cave. The first stretch throws spider-like crawlers and flying enemies at you, so keep moving and pick them off with quick strikes and phantom-shift dodges instead of standing still to trade blows.

Push forward and finish the humanoid enemy that guards the far side of the cavern. This is the foe most likely to kill you here, throwing up the MOORS ET IPSE NON EFFUGIES death screen. If you go down, you respawn back at the beacon, so run in, recover your dropped Gloom from where you fell, and mop up whatever is left.
Once the area is clear, walk up to the hanging fleshy pod and choose SEVER. A short cutscene plays showing a large dark tendril, and you are moved onto a foggy, circular stone platform ringed by branches. This is the corruption gate that opens the way to the beacon crystal.

Continue into the crimson-lit cave beyond the platform. Several red phantom enemies attack here, and they respond well to high-resolve special attacks, so build up Resolve on the cave enemies and spend it to break them down quickly.
With the red phantoms dead, approach the red crystal structure at the end of the cave and select REVITALIZE BEACON. The game confirms the cleanse with a BEACON CLEANSED banner naming the Chamber of the Forsaken.

How to confirm the cleanse worked

You know the beacon is done when the BEACON CLEANSED message appears with the Chamber of the Forsaken name. From that point the beacon becomes a full rest and fast-travel point through the Mether’s Breath menu, letting you restore Health and Resolve and level the Harbinger by consuming Gloom.

If the crystal will not let you revitalize it, one of two things is usually the cause. Either you have not severed the fleshy pod yet, which keeps the platform and crimson cave sealed off, or red phantoms are still alive in the final chamber. Clear both conditions and the REVITALIZE BEACON prompt becomes available.

Because the crimson cave sits behind a one-way pod cutscene, spend any Gloom you are carrying before pushing in for the phantom fight. If you die there, you respawn at the beacon and have to run back to recover it, and losing a large Gloom stash this deep into the Unfound Path stings more than usual.
