Fortnite is welcoming Freddy Fazbear. After years of fan requests and almost-deals, Epic Games has announced a major Five Nights at Freddy’s event for Fortnitemares 2026, featuring animatronic Outfits, a restaurant on the island, and a survival mechanic inspired by the horror games.

Quick answer: The FNAF collaboration launches on October 1, 2026, as part of the broader Fortnitemares 2026 update for Chapter 7 Season 4. Epic has yet to give a specific launch hour.

When the FNAF collab goes live

The crossover lands on October 1, 2026, dropping as part of the full Fortnitemares 2026 update rather than as a standalone patch. It arrives inside Chapter 7 Season 4, the “Override” Gaming Legends season. Epic has said the update goes live in the morning, but has not locked in a precise time yet.

Epic summed up the reveal plainly when it dropped the trailer.

Battle Royale now belongs to the Fazbear Band. Take down the animatronic animal bosses and make it through the night, if you can. Fortnitemares starts 1st October!

Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria comes to the map

The trailer shows Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria as a location of interest in Chapter 7 Season 4. It resembles the unfinished building seen earlier that season on the Override island: a wide, low restaurant surrounded by scaffolding, with a raised stage against the back wall echoing the original game’s arrangement of Freddy, Bonnie, and Chica.

Inside, you can expect the familiar layout. The reveal walks through a neon entrance, the checkered dining hall, the kitchen, balloon-strung hallways, ventilation shafts, and a security office packed with CRT monitors. The four animatronics appear there as NPC bosses you can fight and defeat.

The four animatronic skins and Withered styles

Four Outfits based on the original 2014 animatronic cast lead the bundle. Every Outfit includes a Withered edit style, letting you switch from the pristine animatronic to its battered form with the endoskeleton exposed.

The Outfits react to damage. Trailer footage shows Pickaxe strikes removing parts of Bonnie’s and Freddy’s faces, leaving visible damage as the match progresses. This brings the Withered appearance into play instead of limiting it to a separate cosmetic option. The footage features only the four main animatronics; Springtrap and Michael Afton are absent.

Back blings, Kicks, and a FNAF Jam Track

The cosmetic set reaches well past the four Outfits. Alongside them, expect the following in the Item Shop when the bundle goes live:

  • Mr. Cupcake Back Bling (Chica’s cupcake)
  • Fazbear Kicks
  • Robotic Freddy Fazbear and Bonnie Back Blings
  • A Jam Track tied to The Living Tombstone’s FNAF 1 song, heard at the end of the trailer
  • Jumpscare-inspired emotes and themed instruments

The survive-the-night mode Epic is hinting at

Epic hasn’t officially announced a dedicated mode, though the trailer points strongly toward one. Players are shown working a night shift in the pizzeria as animatronics pursue them, in a setup resembling the series’ familiar camera-monitoring gameplay. The footage also hints that players can defeat the animatronics and take control of them.

In one scene, a player approaches Chica from behind with a Pickaxe and takes control of her; another seems to show a player directing animatronics against other players. This suggests an asymmetric PvP format, with some participants as survivors and others as the monsters.

No mode is named in the trailer, so the overnight-survival setup remains a strong implication, not an official description. It may instead involve boss encounters in standard Battle Royale rather than a separate limited-time mode; the live update will provide the answer.

How the collab fits into Chapter 7 Season 4

Override has already brought in several video game characters fans had long hoped to see, among them Sonic the Hedgehog, Kingdom Hearts, and Mega Man. A horror series that’s a decade old and has spawned two feature films fits the season’s theme. The season ends on November 1, 2026, keeping all of Halloween within its run and leaving the animatronics time to appear before it concludes.

The Chapter 7 Season 4 Battle Pass had no FNAF Outfits at Override’s launch, so the crossover is arriving separately instead of through Battle Pass progression. The pizzeria’s scaffolding was the clue; its transformation into a branded restaurant confirms the direction suggested by months of security-camera hints and FNAF-style dialogue. The doors open on October 1.
