Where Winds Meet: Pass Through the Rotating Mechanism in Evershift Labyrinth

The lever, the timed jump, and the golden bird device that opens the far corridor in Evershift Labyrinth.

The rotating mechanism in Evershift Labyrinth stops a lot of players because the solution looks like a platforming problem when it is really a two-part machine. A giant stone block spins in place, and a corridor sits sealed on the other side of it. Nothing about the block can be climbed, shot, or forced open from the outside.

Quick answer: Pull the lever in front of the stone block, jump into the open compartment as it rotates past you, activate the golden bird device inside, then walk forward into the corridor.

How the rotating mechanism works in Where Winds Meet

The block is a hollow square with one open face. When it is at rest, that opening is not lined up with you, which is why the puzzle looks solid. The lever is the only thing that starts the rotation, and the rotation is the only thing that brings the opening around to your side of the room.

Inside the compartment there is a second device shaped like a golden bird. That device controls the exit face of the block. Getting inside is half the puzzle; triggering the bird is what lines the opening up with the sealed corridor beyond.

Steps to clear the “Pass through the rotating mechanism” objective

Walk up to the lever standing directly in front of the stone block and interact with it. On PC the prompt reads F Pull. The block immediately begins turning.
Stay where you are and watch the block instead of chasing it. Wait until the open face of the square swings around to face your platform, then jump into the compartment. The window is short, so line yourself up with the block before the opening arrives.
Once you are inside, turn to the golden bird-shaped device on the interior wall and interact with it. This is the part people miss, since the compartment feels like a dead end. Activating it changes which way the opening points.
Walk straight forward out of the block. You will step directly into the corridor on the far side, and the objective closes out as soon as you leave the compartment.

How to know the objective completed

The confirmation is simple. The “Pass through the rotating mechanism” tracker clears from your objective list the moment you exit into the corridor, and the corridor stays open behind you. If the tracker is still on screen after you leave the block, you exited back onto the side you started from and need to re-enter.

Note: the stage runs with a Stage Info panel on screen carrying a Time Limited marker, so treat the whole sequence as something to finish in one clean attempt rather than a puzzle you can stand around studying.

Common reasons the mechanism does not open

  • You jumped before pulling the lever. The block only presents its opening while it is rotating, so the lever always comes first.
  • You entered the compartment but left without touching the golden bird device. Riding the block around does not open the corridor on its own.
  • You mistimed the jump and landed on the outer face of the block instead of inside it. Reposition, wait for the opening to come back around, and jump again.

On-screen prompts during the rotating mechanism stage (PC)

PromptInputUse
PullFActivates the lever that starts the block rotating.
Charged Skill (Hold)RHolds for a charged version of your equipped skill.
Switch AbilitiesAltSwaps the ability set shown on your action bar.
Show MouseCtrlFrees the cursor for on-screen panels.

Thrust also appears on the action bar during this stage, alongside the Stage Info readout.

The whole sequence takes under ten seconds once you know the order, and the corridor past the block leads straight on into the rest of Evershift Labyrinth. If you get pushed back out, the lever can be pulled again, so there is no penalty for a missed jump beyond the time you spend resetting.
