Fisch: How to Farm Moonstones with the Experimental Lens

Moonstones in Fisch have always been a slow grind, usually pulled from ordinary meteors on the Ancient Isle at a low drop rate. The Experimental Lens changes that. Once you craft it and slot it into the Astral Observatory telescope, you can trigger a Meteoric Outburst that spawns supercharged meteors, and those meteors carry a much higher chance of dropping Moonstones.

Quick answer: Craft the Experimental Lens at Astronomer Vega’s observatory near Roselit Bay, equip it to the telescope, set the time to night, and activate it to start a Meteoric Outburst. Harvest the supercharged meteors that fall on the Ancient Isle for an 11.08% chance at a Moonstone per meteor.

What you need before you start

The whole method rests on the Experimental Lens, which Astronomer Vega crafts for you at the observatory next to Roselit Bay. Before Vega opens the crafting menu, you also have to complete a short task and gather three separate ingredients, plus a battery to power the telescope.

Finish Vega’s battery casings quest

Travel to the observatory facility beside Roselit Bay and speak with Astronomer Vega. This unlocks the quest line that leads to the Experimental Lens.

Vega asks you to bring back 5 battery casings. These are found in the Sunstone Island mine shaft, so head there and collect all five before returning.

Gather the three Experimental Lens ingredients

The recipe calls for one Quartz Glass, one Chaotic Golden Trout, and one Fallen Resin. Each comes from a different location and, in two cases, requires a specific mutation, so plan to spend the bulk of your time here.

Quartz Glass

Teleport to Cryogenic Canal in the Northern Expedition and enter the Astral Cavern. Fish here until you pull up a Big Darkened Quartz Glass, which satisfies the Quartz Glass slot in the recipe.

Chaotic Golden Trout

Golden Trout appear at the Astral Observatory during clear weather, in the daytime, in spring, and respond to insect bait. Line up those conditions before you cast.

You need the Chaotic mutation on the catch. Using the Duskwire rod together with luck buffs raises your odds of landing a Golden Trout with the Chaotic mutation attached.

Fallen Resin

Catch a Resin at Mushgrove Swamp. This is the base item that becomes Fallen Resin.

Apply the Fallen mutation to it. You can do this by appraising the Resin, or by catching it during a mutation surge that rolls Fallen.

Craft the lens and trigger the Meteoric Outburst

Return to Vega, open the crafting menu, and pick the Experimental Lens option. With the Quartz Glass, Chaotic Golden Trout, and Fallen Resin in hand, confirm the craft.

Insert a battery into the telescope so it has power, then swap the telescope’s current lens over to the Experimental Lens.

Change the in-game time to night. The outburst only fires at night, so this step is not optional.

Activate the telescope. This starts the Meteoric Outburst, and supercharged meteors begin falling.

Collect supercharged meteors and confirm the Moonstone

Travel to the Ancient Isle and harvest a supercharged meteor. Each one has an 11.08% chance to drop a Moonstone, along with better loot overall than a standard meteor.

While the Meteoric Outburst is still active, use a Meteor Totem to summon additional supercharged meteors. This lets you chain multiple high-value harvests from a single outburst instead of waiting for another one.

You know it worked when harvesting a supercharged meteor rolls a Moonstone into your inventory, with the “A Moonstone!” catch line. If a meteor gives nothing, that is expected variance, since the drop is a chance per meteor rather than a guarantee. Keep summoning with totems during the outburst window to push more rolls.

The supercharged meteor rate is the reason this method stands out. Standard meteors and the passive sources sit far lower, which is why the Experimental Lens is worth the setup cost.

What Moonstones are used for

Moonstone is a Gemstone crafting ingredient tied to the Ancient Isle, and it feeds into two of the game’s strongest rods at the Ancient Archives anvil. Farming a stack of them through the outburst method sets you up to complete both recipes without endless server hopping.

The upfront work of gathering the lens ingredients is real, but once the Experimental Lens is crafted it stays reusable. Trigger a Meteoric Outburst at night, lean on Meteor Totems to multiply the supercharged meteors, and the 11.08% rate does the rest far faster than fishing standard meteors ever could.
