Money in Steal an Egg comes from one thing above all else, the pets you keep active in your base. Every equipped pet pays out a fixed amount of cash per second, so growing your income is really about hatching stronger pets and making room for more of them. The rest of the game, speed training, trails, and biome progression, exists to help you reach better eggs.

How pets generate cash in Steal an Egg
Each pet you own shows a money-per-second value, written as $/s. When a pet is equipped in your pen, that amount is added to your passive income and paid out continuously, even while you are running around or training. Your total income is simply the sum of every equipped pet’s $/s.
Rarity gives you a rough idea of value, but the number is what matters. An Epic Crocodile earns $367/s, while a starter dog might only pay $2 to $5/s. Because income compounds into faster upgrades, replacing low earners with stronger pets is the single fastest way to grow your money.

Income also keeps flowing while you are away. A well-stocked pen can display something like “You earn $16M/Day offline,” which is banked and waiting when you return.
Steal, hatch, and equip an egg
This loop is the core of your income. Repeat it with steadily better eggs and your cash-per-second climbs on its own.
Upgrade your pen to earn from more pets
Your pen sets how many pets can be equipped at once, so it is the direct cap on your income. Upgrading it adds equip slots and lets you hold higher-quality pets. Early pen levels are cheap, but later slots cost far more, for example a “+1 EQUIP” upgrade priced at $75M. A “Successfully upgraded your base!” message confirms the extra capacity.
Keep the pen full. Fill every open slot with the best earners you have, then swap out weak pets the moment a stronger one hatches. An empty slot is lost income.
Raise pet value with size, mutations, and fusing
Two pets with the same name can earn very different amounts. Size and mutations both change the $/s value, so always check the number after a pet hatches rather than judging by its look.
- A larger version of a pet pays more than a smaller one of the same type.
- Rare mutations such as Silver or Gold raise a pet’s earnings, sometimes lifting an ordinary pet above your current best.
- The Fuse Machine combines three copies of the same pet into one stronger result, turning duplicate clutter into a better earner.
Before fusing, check that removing three pets will not drop your active income too far. Fuse spare duplicates rather than your equipped top earners.
Use speed to reach higher-paying eggs
Better pets live in tougher biomes, and speed decides which ones you can reach and escape from. If animals keep catching you, speed is almost always the fix. Build it through the treadmill and stack multipliers from the Trails Shop, where trails act as speed boosts rather than pure cosmetics.
Heavy eggs slow you on pickup, so aim for a comfortable margin above a zone’s recommended speed before attempting its biggest eggs. Where you get caught tells you what to do next. Caught near your base means you are close and one more trail or treadmill level will do it. Caught halfway means you need more training first.
Claim free rewards and chase secret eggs
Two quick sources of extra money and speed are easy to overlook. The Index, found on the left side of the screen, records every pet you discover and hands out claimable rewards. Open it after hatching new pets and use Claim All to collect cash, speed, and traps.
Eggs also reset periodically, roughly every five minutes, and each reset can spawn a rare Secret Egg. Watch the chat for announcements like “A Secret Kraken Egg spawned in Abyss Ocean” or “A Secret TRex Egg spawned in Prehistoric.” These contain some of the highest-paying pets, so if you are one of the faster players on the server and the egg is reachable, go for it. If it is too far or heavily contested, ignore it and keep farming a safe egg instead.
Stick with the loop, replace weak pets as better ones hatch, and keep every pen slot working. Your money-per-second grows fastest when speed, pet quality, and pen capacity improve together rather than one at a time.
