Mirkvale is one of the areas added in the Version 2.1 wave of Where Winds Meet content, and finishing its exploration checklist means hunting down every oddity hidden across the region. Oddities are small collectibles tied to the Sentient Beings system, and they are the only thing that raises your Melodies of Peace level, so the sweep is worth doing properly rather than in scattered bursts.
Quick answer: Mirkvale contains 32 oddities. Open the menu and go to Sentient Beings > Exploration > Mirkvale to see your live count, then hand what you collect to an oddity collector to spend on Melodies of Peace nodes.
How many oddities Mirkvale has and where the counter lives
The region holds 32 oddities in total. The game keeps a running tally for you, so there is no need to count manually. Open the menu, pick Sentient Beings, then Exploration, then Mirkvale, and the Oddity Collection entry shows your completion as a fraction, starting at 0/32.

That same screen is how you avoid wasted laps. Each subarea carries its own completion percentage, so if a slice of the map is sitting below 100 percent, that is where the missing pickups are. Oddities count toward the region’s overall exploration figure, which means a stubborn stray oddity is often the only thing keeping a subarea short of full clear.

Add to Google Preferences →Spotting an oddity in the world
Every oddity gives off a faint glowing aura, and an oddity icon appears on your minimap once you are close enough. The catch is the range. You often have to be almost on top of one before it registers, which is why sweeping a region in loops beats running straight lines between fast travel points.
Some sit in plain sight on a rooftop ledge or a garden path. Others are tucked under rocks, behind stacked crates, or on ledges you can only reach by climbing a tree onto tiled roofing. If the icon shows but nothing is visible, look up and look under things before moving on.
How to collect each oddity type
The type of oddity decides the interaction. Every region uses its own named set, and the pickup method is consistent within a type once you learn it.
| Region | Oddity types |
|---|---|
| Qinghe | Dagger General, Whisper Hive, Redmist Beetle, Enchanting Lotus, Ironwing Mantis |
| Kaifeng | Moonbeam Toad, Thunder Fluff, Swallow’s Rest, Heartsoothe Twig, Midnight Nibbler |
| Hexi | Shadowfin, Apsara Hare, Azure Bird, Udumbara Flower, Nine-Colored Deer |
| Kaifeng Imperial Palace | Incense Candles, Auspicious Rain, Jade Steps, Imperial Warden |
| Hidden Mountain | Terracotta Boar, Wicker Ray, Jadesong Cicada, Blackiron Pangolin |
A handful of interactions repeat constantly across regions, and they cover the large majority of pickups.
- Fire arrows. Shoot a hive, a hanging lantern, a lantern stand, or a bird perched on a roof. Some chains ask you to light a lantern, follow the trail of golden light particles, and ignite the brazier at the far end.
- Charged Slam. Stone reliefs and slabs set into wall bases and foundations need a charged attack. Hold, then release inside the yellow zone to clear the prompt.
- Chasing something. Interact with a pebble and follow it, or defeat the purple butterflies circling an Enchanting Lotus before the flower can be taken.
- Smashing containers. Break wooden barrels and crates near docks, scaffolding, and storage corners to reveal the pickup underneath.
- Sound cues. Dagger Generals hide under rocks. Listen for the chirp to work out which rock to hit.
- Waiting it out. A Blackiron Pangolin stays underground until it surfaces from its hole. Shoot or attack it the moment it is exposed.
Note: if an oddity does not register after the interaction, the usual cause is an incomplete step rather than a bug. A lantern chain that times out, a Charged Slam released outside the yellow band, or a pangolin that ducks back underground all leave the collectible in place, and you can simply repeat the attempt.
Planning a Mirkvale oddity run with waypoints

Where to trade oddities for Melodies of Peace
Collecting is only half of it. Oddities have to be handed to an oddity collector, and each collector accepts the oddities from their own region. Turning them in unlocks nodes in Melodies of Peace, the skill tree that raises stats such as physical attack and adds performance effects.
| Collector | Where to find them |
|---|---|
| Qi Sheng (Qinghe) | Southeast of General’s Shrine, west of Wayfarer, in Verdant Wilds |
| Bai Ji (Kaifeng) | Northwest Kaifeng City, next to the Palace of Supreme Oneness |
| Qi Xian (Hexi) | In Karez, north of the Karez boundary stone |
| Mu Heng (Kaifeng Imperial Palace) | Southwest of the Imperial Palace, north of the Reserve Archives boundary stone |
| Duan Wei (Hidden Mountain) | Suixiang, south of the Mountain Verge boundary stone, near the south end of the bridge with his dog |
Several collectors are gated behind an exploration quest before they will accept anything. Bai Ji needs Oddity: Mystery of Five Tones, Qi Xian needs Melodies of Peace: Hexi, and Mu Heng needs A Different Path before Golden Echoes can be submitted. If a collector refuses your stack, the quest is almost always the reason.
How to confirm Mirkvale is fully collected
The confirmation is unambiguous. Once the last pickup lands, the Oddity Collection entry under Sentient Beings > Exploration > Mirkvale stops showing a fraction and reads as Collection Complete instead of 32/32. That flip is your signal that the region’s oddity list is done.
If the counter is stuck one short, the missing pin is nearly always in a subarea still below 100 percent, or it belongs to a type with a delayed spawn, like a pangolin that has not surfaced yet. Return, wait a few seconds at the spot, and the icon should reappear.
Mirkvale’s 32 oddities are best treated as a single dedicated sweep rather than something you chip at between quests, mostly because the pickup radius is so small that casual travel misses them. Clear the region subarea by subarea, keep the Exploration counter open between loops, and bank the whole haul with a collector in one trip so the Melodies of Peace nodes unlock together.
