Star Wars Zero Company: Best Dual Specialization Builds for Every Operator

The strongest class pairings for Hawks, Trick, Jae, Cly, Kabb, and Tel-Rea once the second specialization slot opens up.

The strongest class pairings for Hawks, Trick, Jae, Cly, Kabb, and Tel-Rea once the second specialization slot opens up.

Dual specialization changes how every squad in Star Wars Zero Company plays. Once it opens, each operator can run two standard classes at once, mixing abilities from both through the Focus Tree. The pairings below give each key operator one clear job while keeping the healing, control, and action economy a longer fight needs.

Quick answer: Run Hawks as Medic/Gunslinger, Trick as Heavy/Soldier, Jae as Scout/Sharpshooter, and Cly as Warrior/Assault for a balanced squad that heals, tanks, executes at range, and deals mobile critical damage. Kabb (Soldier/Scoundrel) and Tel-Rea (locked Padawan/Wayseeker) cover melee disruption and Force control.

When dual specialization unlocks

The second specialization slot opens for the entire roster after Cycle 18, roughly halfway through the campaign. Each operator then gets a Spec 1 and Spec 2 slot in the Focus Tree, and the ability ring can pull skills from both selected classes.

You cannot put the same class in both slots, but any two different standard classes combine freely. Standard classes stay reassignable at any time through the Personnel Facility at no cost, and invested points refund when you respec. That means you can retune a build whenever a mission calls for more mobility, defense, or utility.

Two classes sit outside this system. Jedi Padawan stays locked to Tel-Rea, and Mandalorian Warrior stays locked to Cly. Neither exotic class ever gains a second specialization, and neither can transfer to another operator.

Hawks: Medic/Gunslinger combat medic

Medic/Gunslinger turns Hawks into a squad enabler who heals, buffs allies, and still finishes off weakened enemies. Invest heavily in Quick Draw and Combat Stim, then put enough points into Morale Boost to build bonds across the team.

Combat Stim raises an ally’s health and damage, which makes Cly a strong target for it before a mobile push. Quick Draw VI fires a fast sidearm shot separate from the primary blaster and refunds an Action Point on a kill, so it doubles as a clean low-health finisher. Healing and Morale Boost also generate bonds quickly.

Note: Hawks is mandatory on every story mission, so his build should complement the rest of the squad rather than duplicate a role. Medic/Scout adds spotting, and Medic/Heavy trades offense for durability if you need Hawks to hold a line.

Trick: Heavy/Soldier tank and retaliation

Heavy/Soldier builds Trick around maximum health, aggro control, and retaliation. His signature For My Brothers talent revives him once per mission, giving the squad a second health bar. Prioritize max-health upgrades and health training so he can stay exposed while everyone else works from cover.

Bulwark taunts a group of enemies, and Unstoppable delivers retaliation attacks when those enemies fire back. A blaster rifle keeps his damage and aggro reliable, while a multi-shot pistol can tag several enemies and spread Taunt wider. From the Soldier side, Rocket Strike gives a once-per-combat explosive swing, and Brutal Strike adds melee movement with the Dazed condition.

Jae: Scout/Sharpshooter execution build

Scout/Sharpshooter keeps Jae at long range and builds around Final Shot. The ability automatically removes any target sitting at 10 health or less and always hits. At rank IV it triggers twice per turn, so the rest of the squad can soften two enemies and let Jae close them out for free.

Tactical Timing grants extra Advantage whenever Jae defeats an enemy, feeding the squad’s shared resource pool. Her Scout attacks apply Spotted, which cancels the accuracy penalties from range and smoke on later shots. On the Sharpshooter side, Zero In and a passive 10% hit bonus make her ordinary rifle fire threatening. Prioritize accuracy first, then critical chance and damage.

Scout/Gunslinger is the main alternative. Gunslinger adds critical chance through Keen Eye and a more aggressive shooting rhythm, but Sharpshooter protects Jae’s role as a long-range executioner.

Cly: Warrior/Assault critical flanker

Cly’s locked Warrior specialization already rewards close-range aggression, and Assault supplies the movement to set it up. Upgrade Combat Jump for repositioning, then lean on Fleet of Foot and Assault movement bonuses to reach flanks and grouped targets.

Sweeping Salvo converts that mobility into a cone attack against clustered enemies. Assault also grants a 20% critical-hit chance bonus against exposed enemies, which stacks directly with the increased critical damage from Warrior’s Ruthless passive. Keep health upgrades on Cly, since she usually ends her turn closer to danger than the ranged operators.

Warrior/Gunslinger is the main alternative, adding Onslaught for stronger blaster attacks and Quick Draw for Action Point recovery. It trades some Assault mobility for a steadier pistol-focused turn. If you prefer her electricity kit, max Electroweb Dart and pair it with Scout’s Tactical Timing and Combat Recon to keep tagging enemies.

Kabb: Soldier/Scoundrel melee finisher

Soldier/Scoundrel builds Kabb around Uppercut. The attack rushes a target, deals melee damage, and knocks it backward. If Uppercut defeats the enemy, it refunds every Action Point spent, including the movement used to reach the target, so Kabb keeps acting.

Soldier improves melee damage and adds Brutal Strike, whose Dazed effect stops a target from acting, plus Rocket Strike for ranged explosive pressure when a target survives or stands too far for a safe approach. Scoundrel supplies vulnerability and weakness support for the rest of the squad. Knockback can trigger an instant environmental kill near a ledge or hazard, but Kabb stays effective on flat maps through raw damage and Dazed control.

Tel-Rea: Padawan and Wayseeker (locked)

Tel-Rea does not pick two standard classes. Her Padawan and Wayseeker specializations are locked to her, and no other operator can equip them. Padawan Training raises her critical chance and unlocks more Meditation slots, which lets her stack Force control with defensive and restorative effects.

Push and Pull move enemies out of safe positions, clear sightlines for Jae, and set up environmental kills where the terrain allows. Push is the more useful investment overall, while Pull pries enemies out of cover or drags a vulnerable target toward the squad. Lightsaber Throw from the Wayseeker side deals heavy damage, and her defensive stance reflects incoming attacks while building Harmony stacks.

Bring Tel-Rea in place of Cly when Force movement, reflection, and defense matter more than mobile critical damage. She can also swap in for Kabb when the squad needs broader control and sustain instead of pure melee disruption.

Weapon mods and utilities to pair with each build

The right mods sharpen each role. Ion Modulators add damage against droids and ray shields, Superlight Stabilizers help evasion-focused operators, and Sniper’s Scopes support long-range fire. Turbo Cyclers boost sustained shooting output.

The Scattergun (Mk. II or Mk. III) is an exceptionally strong close-range weapon that damages every target in a cone, which suits grouped engagements. Fast Healing fits Tel-Rea well, while Double-Dose Bacta Stim and Gas Dispenser Mk. II round out squad support and control.

Spend Influence on the Holotable for permanent stats

Every time you return to the Holotable, spend Influence on its progression tracks. These award permanent stat upgrades such as +Max Health that carry across the whole campaign, and they are easy to leave unclaimed. Bond training upgrades that prioritize Max Health and Focus Points are worth taking early for the same reason.

How to pilot the squad in combat

Lead with Trick. Use Bulwark to taunt a cluster of enemies so they focus him, then let Unstoppable retaliate as they fire back. His self-revive means you can keep him forward without risking the run.
Have Hawks apply Combat Stim to Cly before her push, then chip low-health targets with Quick Draw. Healing and Morale Boost keep bonds and the frontline healthy at the same time.
Move Cly to a flank with Combat Jump and Assault movement, then hit exposed or grouped enemies with Sweeping Salvo for stacked critical damage.
Position Jae at range, apply Spotted, and set up Overwatch zones. Let the squad drop enemies to 10 health or less, then finish two of them per turn with Final Shot while Tactical Timing refills Advantage.

These pairings are a strong all-round foundation rather than a single answer for every mission. Standard classes respec freely, so test each build under real conditions, start on a lower difficulty, then ramp up and swap Tel-Rea or Kabb in when a map demands more control, defense, or Force movement.
