Where Winds Meet: How to Get the Mistwing Inner Way

Mistwing sits in a chest below the Deer Pond waterfall in Qinghe and scales Physical Penetration off missing HP.

Mistwing is one of the Inner Ways in Where Winds Meet that you do not earn from a boss fight or a long quest chain. It is sitting in a chest, in the open world, waiting for anyone who knows which teleport point to use and which direction to glide.

Quick answer: Fast travel to the Deer Pond point near Sage’s Knoll in Qinghe, glide down from the waterfall to the temple below, and open the large chest inside it to unlock Mistwing.

What the Mistwing Inner Way does

Mistwing is an attack-side passive. It rewards you for staying on a target that is already hurt, giving you more Physical Penetration the lower the enemy’s health drops. That makes it a finisher-friendly pick rather than an opener.

Because the bonus is tied to the enemy’s remaining health rather than your weapon, it works regardless of which Martial Art you have equipped. The full 4 Physical Penetration only lands once a target is at or below 20% health.

Route to the Mistwing chest in Qinghe

Open the world map and zoom into the Qinghe region. You are looking for the area around Sage’s Knoll, which is where the relevant fast travel point sits.
Select the Deer Pond teleport point and travel there. This is the closest anchor to the chest, and picking any other nearby point turns a short glide into a long climb.
You will arrive next to a waterfall. Face the drop and look down, and you will see a temple building sitting below the falls.

Glide down toward that temple and land on the platform in front of it. There is no fight or puzzle gating the entrance, so you can walk straight in.
Head inside and find the large chest resting on the floor. Interact with it to receive Inner Way: Mistwing.

Confirming the unlock and equipping Mistwing

Opening the chest hands you the skill directly, so there is no separate pickup to hunt down afterward. To check it registered, go into the Inner Way menu and find Mistwing in the list. If it worked, the entry is no longer locked and its stats page is fully readable.

Owning an Inner Way is not the same as running it. You get four active slots, and a passive sitting in your collection does nothing in combat until you place it into one of them. Slot Mistwing in before you head into a boss fight, or you will not see the penetration scaling at all.

Why players miss the Mistwing chest

  • Wrong teleport point. Several markers cluster around Sage’s Knoll. Deer Pond is the one that drops you at the waterfall with a clean glide line.
  • Gliding past the temple. The building sits directly below the falls, not out across the valley. If you overshoot it, climb back up and re-enter the glide.
  • Chest already opened. If you cleared this temple earlier in a general exploration sweep, Mistwing is already in your Inner Way list and there is nothing left to collect.
  • Skill left unequipped. The most common reason the effect appears to do nothing is that Mistwing was never moved into one of the four active slots.

The whole detour takes a couple of minutes if you are already exploring Qinghe, and the payoff is a passive that scales cleanly into the back half of any long fight. Grab it while you are in the region rather than backtracking for it later.
