Why the truth about Vicho matters

When A Study in Crimson wraps up, Coen learns the murders in Svartrau City never actually stopped. A Vrakhir is still hunting at night, which is the unresolved thread the game leaves hanging. Preventing that outcome is the whole point here, and it means going back for evidence rather than accepting the case as closed.

Note: The trail has no active quest marker attached to it at first. You are following clues on your own until Coen finds something concrete on Vicho, at which point the game reacts.

Find the hidden letter in Simeon’s warehouse

Head back to Simeon’s warehouse after A Study in Crimson is complete. On the first floor there is a hidden chest that stays locked until you have the right key.

Take the key from Simeon’s body and open that chest. Inside is a letter written by Ivo, who defends Vicho and describes him as someone who always appears civilized and in control. Ivo adds that he is not leaving the farm but will stay cautious.

That note is a reply to Simeon’s earlier worries about Vicho, and it points Coen toward his next destination.

Investigate Ivo’s farm south of Svartrau

Ivo’s farm is located south of Svartrau city. If you never pieced the letter together, the game still routes you there. Characters such as Ocha bring up Vicho again after finishing his quest, which nudges Coen to the farm later in the story.

Reach the farm and take in the aftermath. A bloodbath has happened, and every sign points to Vicho as the culprit.

Read Simeon’s letter to Ivo found here. It warns that Vicho lost his mind, that the hunger inside him is no longer under control, and that he killed his friends. Simeon urges Ivo to leave the farm for a few days to protect his family.

Collect two items before you can question the dead woman inside the house. The Wedding Headband is just outside the house with butterflies drifting around it, and the Farmer’s Sword is inside, right behind the front door.

Use the Compel Soul skill on the dead woman to ask a few questions. Together with the two items, this confirms that Vicho saw blood while visiting Ivo, lost control, and killed everyone on the farm.

Once that connection is made, A Study in Crimson reopens after being marked complete, and the new objective becomes to confront Vicho.

Confront Vicho and keep him alive

The confrontation is dangerous, but it is Vicho who is in danger. Once he realizes he caused every murder, he becomes hard to talk down. The only way to keep him alive is to offer to help by supplying him with blood. Work through the dialogue in this exact order.

That new quest starting is your on-screen sign that the choices landed correctly.
