The Blood of Dawnwalker: How to Gather Herbs From Anca’s Shed

Where the shed is, how to pick up every bundle of Dried Herbs, and what happens the moment Anca screams.

Where the shed is, how to pick up every bundle of Dried Herbs, and what happens the moment Anca screams.

The “Gather herbs from Anca’s shed” objective belongs to Page Turner, the short optional quest that branches off the Prologue’s Withering Away chain in The Blood of Dawnwalker. It looks like a simple fetch task, and it mostly is, but the pickup is easy to miss because the herbs are hanging above your head rather than sitting on a shelf.

Quick answer: Leave Anca’s hut, turn left, and enter the small shed with the collapsed roof. Look up at the ceiling and press the interact key (F on PC) repeatedly until every bundle of Dried Herbs is collected — the objective flips to “Help Anca” the instant the last one is picked up.

How the Page Turner quest starts in The Blood of Dawnwalker

You only see this objective if you accept Anca’s offer to wait out the storm. During the Withering Away sequence, after Coen buys the medicinal herbs and rain begins outside, Anca invites him to stay. Picking “Gladly — I’ve missed it too” starts Page Turner. Choosing “I really have to go” sends Coen straight home and skips the shed entirely.

The two options carry different time costs, and time in this game moves in segments rather than clock hours. One full time bar is split into eight segments, and day flips to night once all eight are used.

After you agree to stay, Coen and Anca read together. You can pick “Let’s read this poem” or “How about this book with the red cover?”, and neither choice changes the objective that follows. The reading scene runs until a noise outside cuts it short.

Anca’s shed location and how to collect the Dried Herbs

Walk out of the main cabin once the reading cutscene ends. The weather outside is dark and raining, so the shed is easy to run past if you rely on visibility alone.
Turn left from the front of the hut and head to the small wooden outbuilding a short jog away. A fallen tree has crushed part of its roof, which is what put the herbs at risk in the first place.

Step inside and aim the camera at the ceiling. The bundles hang from the rafters, and the prompt reads “Pick Up Dried Herbs” when you are looking at one.

Press the interact key on each bundle in turn. Every pickup pops its own “Dried Herbs (1)” notification, so keep sweeping the ceiling until no new prompts appear.

Note: the game does not count these as a single container pickup. If you leave the shed after grabbing one or two bundles, the objective stays open and the scene outside will not fire.

How to know the objective completed: Anca’s scream and the “Help Anca” update

Completion is unmistakable. The moment the last bundle is in Coen’s hands, Anca screams outside and the tracker changes from “Gather herbs from Anca’s shed” to “Help Anca”. There is no separate confirmation screen to hunt for.

Run out of the shed and you will find Anca on the ground near the steps, bleeding after a fall. Interacting with her costs the second time segment of this detour and starts a cutscene where Coen carries her indoors.

The conversation that follows is short. Anca explains that she slipped and hurt her back, Coen points out that she is bleeding, and you get the choice between “I got some of them” and “Let’s dress your wounds first.” Neither answer blocks the quest from finishing.

Treating Anca’s wound to finish Page Turner

Inside the hut, the sequence asks for two specific actions in order. First, clean the wound with the wet cloth. Then apply the balm from the blue jar. Getting both right closes out Page Turner and hands control back to the Withering Away quest line.

If the objective refuses to advance, there are only two realistic causes. Either a bundle of Dried Herbs is still hanging in the shed, or you have not interacted with Anca after finding her outside. Everything else in the sequence runs automatically.

From there, Coen heads home with the new blend of herbs to hand over to Pieter, who is waiting outside with Vladimir. The two time segments spent at Anca’s place are the real cost of this detour, so factor that in if you are trying to reach the rest of the Prologue before nightfall.
