The Blood of Dawnwalker: Blasphemous Echo Manual Location

Every chest, tower, and vendor that hands over the Witchcraft manual, plus how to make the perk actually appear.

The Blasphemous Echo Manual is one of the Witchcraft books Coen can read in The Blood of Dawnwalker, and like every manual in the game, owning it is only half the job. It sits in a handful of world containers across Vale Sangora, and it can also be bought outright if you would rather spend Denarius than climb anything.

Quick answer: Loot the chest at the Kobold’s Nest east of the Southern Swampside Shrine, then open your inventory and read the manual — the Blasphemous Echo perk only becomes purchasable in the development tree after you read it.

What the Blasphemous Echo Manual does

Manuals are books that unlock Perks and Abilities on the Witchcraft and Swordmastery paths. Blasphemous Echo belongs to the Witchcraft side of the character menu. Reading the book does not grant the perk for free — it makes the perk available for purchase, so you still spend skill points on it afterwards.

That distinction matters because leveling up in The Blood of Dawnwalker only gives you points. The books are what open the doors those points can be spent on. Vampirism skills work differently and use Corruption Level from drinking blood instead, so no manual exists for that tree.

Multiple copies of the same manual exist in the world, and manuals can also drop randomly from defeated enemies. There is no fixed cap on how many you can collect, and the game hands out far more than the minimum needed to fill out the tree.

Chest contents at Scouting Towers are not always identical between playthroughs, and a run through Boar’s Back Tower — the tower northwest of Svartby, in the Shrike’s Crag area west of Svartrau City — can also turn up the manual in its top chest alongside the usual food, junk, and Denarius. If you are already tagging towers, check every container rather than assuming a fixed drop.

Fastest route: the Kobold’s Nest chest

The lair route is the least demanding of the three, because monster lairs do not care what time of day it is and do not require any vampiric traversal.

Fast travel to the Southern Swampside Shrine and set a marker on the Kobold’s Nest to the east. The nest is a standard open-world lair, so it appears on the map once the surrounding area has been surveyed.
Dark cavern approach with the compass and quest tracker pointing at an objective 2.1 kilometres away
The compass and tracker keep the marked objective visible while you close the distance underground.
Clear the kobolds inside. The chest sits past the occupied section of the nest, and leaving enemies alive makes looting it a fight rather than a pickup.
Dark stone chamber with the quest tracker showing the marked objective 20 metres ahead
The tracker drops to metres once you are inside the chamber holding the container.
Open the chest and take everything. The manual is listed by name in the loot window, so you will see “Blasphemous Echo Manual” among the food, coin, and crafting odds and ends.
Interaction prompts on screen while the player lines up with a glowing red container in a cavern
Lootable containers glow red, and the interaction prompt appears once you line up with one.

Scouting Tower runs: Maragir Wealds and Rockfalls

There are 11 Scouting Towers in Vale Sangora, and two of them are reliable Blasphemous Echo Manual sources. Before you set out, two rules govern all of them. Towers can only be scaled at night, because reaching the ledges and running along the walls needs Shadowstep and Planeshift. Climbing them also does not advance the clock, which makes tower sweeps unusually cheap in a game where time is the main currency.

Wait for nightfall and head to the eastern edge of the Maragir Wealds region. A Vidmo specter waits inside the structure, so clear it before you start climbing rather than mid-ascent.

Climb prompts appear at each ledge, marking the route up the outside of the structure.
Work your way to the top and hit the survey prompt at each viewpoint. Surveying pins activities, locations, and points of interest onto the world map, which is the main reason to bother with towers at all.

Stone openings inside the tower link one platform to the next on the way to the summit.
Loot every container near the top before dropping down. The reward chest is what carries the manual, and the tower is not repeatable once looted.
For the second copy, travel to Rockfalls Tower, due south of the abandoned village of Oghasti and west of the Lunar Manor. You will not have the stamina to Planeshift along the outer walls here, so go inside and Shadowstep from one wooden board to the next until you reach the chest.

Tip: because towers do not consume in-game time, it is possible to tag several of them in a single night. Doing the Maragir Wealds and Rockfalls climbs back to back is the cleanest way to collect two copies without burning a day.

Buying it from the Matriarch Witchcraft Vendor

If you have already looted the towers or simply want the perk now, the Matriarch Witchcraft Vendor stocks the Blasphemous Echo Manual. Witchcraft vendors carry most of the tree’s books, and buying is often faster than hunting when a specific ability is blocking a build.

Be ready for the price. Higher-tier manuals can run into the thousands of Denarius, so vendor shopping tends to be a mid-run option once you have sold enough loot to afford it.

Read the manual to unlock the perk

Picking up the book does nothing on its own. Open your inventory, select the Blasphemous Echo Manual, and read it. Only then does the perk appear as a purchasable node in the development tree.

You will know it worked when the manual leaves your inventory and the Blasphemous Echo node in the Witchcraft section of the character menu becomes selectable with skill points. Reading manuals occasionally triggers a jump scare animation, which is cosmetic and does not affect the unlock.

Why the perk still is not showing up

  • The manual is sitting unread in your inventory. Books must be read, not just carried.
  • You have no skill points left. The perk is unlocked for purchase, but it still costs points to actually take.
  • You tried to climb a Scouting Tower during the day. Towers are night-only, because the traversal depends on vampiric abilities.
  • You are still in the prologue. Free exploration of Vale Sangora opens up once the prologue is finished.

Since manuals also drop from ordinary enemies, a spare copy of Blasphemous Echo will often turn up on its own long after you have read the first one. Extra copies are safe to sell, and the survey data you pick up on the tower routes will mark the Sacred Stones, Ancient Circles, and Haunted Sites that hand out the rest of the Witchcraft tree.
