The Blood of Dawnwalker: How to Claim the Sangoran Wayfarer’s Armor Set

The Epic heavy set arrives free with any pre-order, and everyone else picks it up at the end of the prologue.

The Epic heavy set arrives free with any pre-order, and everyone else picks it up at the end of the prologue.

The Sangoran Wayfarer’s Armor Set is the first Epic-tier gear most players will own in The Blood of Dawnwalker. It was the pre-order bonus for every edition of the game, but nobody is locked out of it. The set is also handed to Coen during the opening hours of the story, and the trigger is a single, unmissable moment in the prologue.

Quick answer: Complete the prologue quest Smoke and Ashes in Laslea Glen and walk through Laslea Gate into the main world. All three armor pieces are added to your inventory automatically as the transition finishes. Pre-order owners get the same set without waiting.

How to unlock the Sangoran Wayfarer set in the prologue

There is no chest to open, no vendor to find, and no side objective attached to this set. It is tied to leaving the tutorial area, so the only thing standing between you and the armor is finishing the prologue chapter.

Play through the prologue chapter of the main quest until Smoke and Ashes becomes your active objective. Everything before this point is scripted, so simply follow the story beats as they come.
Open the map and switch to the MAP tab to confirm you are still inside Laslea Glen. The tracking and filter controls here let you pin the active quest so the marker stays on your compass while you move.

Head for Laslea Gate, described in-game as an entrance to Coen’s home village. It sits at the edge of the starting region and is the exit point from the prologue area.

Pass through the gate and let the transition into the main world finish. The armor is granted during this handover, so do not quit or reload while the game is loading you into the open world.

How to confirm the armor was added

Once you are standing in the open world, open your inventory and look under armor. You should see three separate entries carrying the Sangoran Wayfarer name, all marked Epic. If the pieces are there, the unlock has already fired, and nothing else needs to be redeemed.

At that point the main quest tracker switches over to Rescue your family with its countdown running, which is a reliable sign that the prologue is behind you.

From here the wider map opens up, with regions such as Briar Sloughs and Boar’s Back filling in as you discover them.

Getting the set early through a pre-order

The set was attached to pre-orders of all three editions — Standard, Eclipse, and Collector’s — rather than being locked behind the more expensive tiers. The store description frames it as armor bearing the emblem of a nameless smith who travelled the continent looking for inspiration, and it explicitly notes that the set can also be obtained later in the game.

On console and PC the bonus is delivered as an add-on tied to your account, so it arrives alongside the base game rather than through a separate code. If you bought a bonus-eligible copy, check the add-ons or DLC list for your platform before assuming something is missing.

Sangoran Wayfarer armor stats and effects

All three pieces are Epic tier. The breastplate and boots are heavy armor, while the chausses are classed as medium trousers, so the set mixes weight classes rather than being pure heavy.

PieceType / WeightArmorEffects
Breastplate of the Sangoran WayfarerHeavy Chestpiece, 11.3123+3.5% Claw Damage; +3.5% Damage Against Mortals; +8.4% Blood Drinking Restoration
Chausses of the Sangoran WayfarerMedium Trousers, 3.9101+7% Activation Charge Restoration from Block; +3.5% Witchcraft Ability Damage; +7% Activation Charge Restoration from Perfect Block
Boots of the Sangoran WayfarerHeavy Boots, 3.295+7% Maximum Human Health; +3.5% Damage Against Supernatural Enemies; +3.5% Weapon Damage

Why you may not want to equip it right away

Owning the set and wearing it are two different decisions. At the point in the story where the armor lands in your inventory, equipping it lowers your stats by 30%, which cancels out much of the benefit those Epic numbers suggest.

Note: the armor value shown on a piece can read lower than the figures above when you inspect it during the early game, so judge the set by how it compares to what Coen is currently wearing rather than by the tooltip alone.

The practical approach is to keep the three pieces stored until the penalty is no longer a factor, then swap them in as a set. Either way, the claim itself is a one-time event tied to leaving Laslea Glen, so once the pieces appear you cannot lose access to them.
