“When Two Dogs…” is one of the two artefact transports tied to Xanthe, and it is unusual among Court Activities because you do not have to fight for it. The escort you find on the road is not a Blood Guard patrol at all, but a group of masked rogues standing over the bodies of the people who were carrying the goods. One dialogue line decides whether you draw a sword or simply walk off with the loot.
Quick answer: Track the activity, run the marked road until the patrol marker appears, then pick “I’m Coen of Laslea.” in the standoff. The rogues back down, you loot the transported goods, and the activity ends with 100 XP and 1 Skill Point.
What the activity is and what it costs
This is a Court Activity in Xanthe’s region, grouped with “Past Glory” under artefact transports. Completing it raises Xanthe’s Anger level, which is the meter you need to max out before her duel quest unlocks. You do not need every activity on her board, so treat this one as a cheap contribution rather than a hard requirement.
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Activity type | Xanthe artefact transport |
| Objective | Check what happened to the transport, then loot the transported goods |
| Time cost | 3 time segments |
| Suggested level | 25+ for Xanthe’s region |
| Rewards | 100 XP, 1 Skill Point, plus loot |
| Counts toward | Delivery Delay (destroy any 8 of the 10 Vrakhiri transports) |
The journal may flag it with “Might be challenging at current level” if you arrive early. That warning is about the escort’s level, not about a hard lock, and the peaceful route sidesteps the fight entirely.

The rogue standoff: Pick “I’m Coen of Laslea.”
The rogue leader opens with a threat, telling Coen that he will be next unless he can give a very convincing reason to be spared. This is the only decision point in the whole activity.

Choose “I’m Coen of Laslea.” The leader’s reaction is instant disbelief, Coen offers to prove it, and the mood changes completely. The rogue tells you to take your pick of the loot and calls the incident settled.

The other replies on offer are “Oh, I think this story ends with a twist.”, “I don’t want any trouble.”, “I’m friends with Ocho.” and a “[give in to the hunger]” option. Only the Coen of Laslea line is confirmed to defuse the encounter. If the talk turns into a fight, the activity still resolves the same way once the escort is dead and the bodies are searched.
Loot from the transported goods
Time passes after the conversation, and a new objective appears: loot the transported goods. Follow the short distance to the highlighted container, which sits only a few metres away in the trees.

Three things come out of the haul. The Golden Brooch is a valuable, the Strong Ancient Reagents are crafting stock, and the Ancient Hero’s Vambraces are the reason to bother with this one at all.
| Item | Notes |
|---|---|
| Ancient Hero’s Vambraces | Legendary Heavy Bracers, 130 Armour |
| Golden Brooch | x1 |
| Strong Ancient Reagent | x2 |
Ancient Hero’s Vambraces stats
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Armour | 130 |
| Art | Claw |
| Activation Charge from Perfect Block | +15.1% |
| Activation Charge from Actions | +14.6% |
| Maximum Human Health | +16.4% |
| Claw Damage | +2% |
| Style | Improved by 50% |
Note: these are Heavy Armour bracers, so the item card flags “Not proficient with Heavy Armour” until you have the matching proficiency. The vampiric health regeneration and cooldown lines sit at 0% on this roll.
How to confirm the activity is complete
Looting the goods is the final objective. A QUEST ENDED card appears on screen naming “Xanthe’s Transports: When Two Dogs…” and lists the payout: 100 XP and 1 Skill Point. The clock also advances by three segments, so check your day counter afterwards if you are running tight on the 30-day limit.

If the quest marker leads you to an empty stretch of road, the escort has simply drifted along its route, so double back rather than assuming the activity is bugged. And if you have already dealt with Xanthe herself, the transport is still there to clear afterwards for the loot and the trophy progress, even though there is no longer anyone left to be angered by it.
