Fisch Skycrest: How to Complete the Shunsoku Idol Quest

The four Shunsoku trials, the exact gear that clears each one, and the Rush Charm waiting at the end.

The four Shunsoku trials, the exact gear that clears each one, and the Rush Charm waiting at the end.

Shunsoku is one of seven Ancient Idols carved into the floating island of Skycrest, and it is the one that hands out the Rush Charm. Its four trials are all built around speed, which means the gear you bring matters far more than the time you sink into them. With the right rod, bait, and one potion, the whole set can be cleared in a single session.

Quick answer: Directly catch 20 fish with a rod at 50% or higher Progress Speed, catch an Electric or Electrified Northern Pike in the Boreal Pines Astral Cavern, directly hook 2 fish within 15 seconds, then catch 5 fish within 15 seconds using a Glitched Potion. Return to the Shunsoku Idol after each one to bank the Idol Favor and claim the Rush Charm.

What the Rush Charm does and why Shunsoku is worth clearing

The Rush Charm raises Progress Speed, the stat that controls how fast the catch bar fills once a fish is hooked. Like every Charm earned from an Ancient Idol, it levels up as you catch fish inside Skycrest, so the bonus scales the longer you stay on the island. It slots into the Crest Amulet, which holds up to nine Charms at once as your Idol Favor level climbs.

There is a neat feedback loop here. The first trial asks for high Progress Speed, and the reward is more Progress Speed, which makes the last two timed trials easier to repeat later. If you are choosing an idol to work on early, Shunsoku pays for itself.

Getting to Skycrest and finding the Shunsoku Idol

Skycrest sits above the Fischfest island. Head to Moosewood at coordinates (350, 135, 250) and use the large pink clam teleporter beside the leaderboard, or use your Magic Conch if you have already filled half of the Fischfest 2 bestiary. From there, take a boat out to the vertical waterfall at (-25700, 2591, -4712) and swim up it to surface on the island.

The seven idols — Hayate, Ebisu, Fudo, Nagomi, Goriki, Shunsoku, and Amanojaku — are spread around the island. Interact with the Shunsoku statue to open its trial list. Each completed trial is turned in at the statue itself, and the “Idol Favor Up!” prompt is your confirmation that it registered.

All four Shunsoku trials and the fastest way to clear each

TrialFastest clear
Directly Catch 20 Fish with at least 50% Progress SpeedAny rod with a base Progress Speed of +50% or better, or a weaker rod pushed over the line with a speed enchant
Directly Catch Electric or Electrified Northern PikeBoreal Pines – Astral Cavern with a Tempest Rod, Storming Enchant, Tempest Totem for rain, and Fish Head bait
Directly Hook 2 Fish in 15 secondsA fast-luring rod such as the Onirifalx or Plaguereaver in shallow, high-density water
Catch 5 Fish in 15 secondsA Glitched Potion, which grants duplicate catches that count toward the total

Note: “Directly” means the fish has to come off your line. Crab cage pulls and fish speared by a companion do not count toward these trials.

Trial 1: 20 catches at 50% Progress Speed or higher

Check the Progress Speed value on the rod you plan to use. Anything sitting at +50% or above qualifies on its own, and you do not need to change anything else about your setup.

The first Shunsoku trial only checks your rod’s Progress Speed stat, not the fish you catch.
If your rod falls short, apply a Progress Speed enchant to push it over the threshold. A rod running a negative Progress Speed figure will not tick the counter up no matter how many fish you land, so fix the stat before you start casting.

Fish anywhere with quick bites until the counter hits 20. Rarity and species are irrelevant here, so pick the densest water you have access to and keep casting.

Trial 2: Electric or Electrified Northern Pike in the Astral Cavern

This is the only trial with a fixed location, and it is the one that eats the most time. The Northern Pike spawns in the Astral Cavern at Boreal Pines, in the crevice of water next to the Merchant. The base fish is easy enough; the Electric mutation is the part you are actually farming.

Equip the Tempest Rod with the Storming Enchant. The rod’s passive can apply the Electric mutation on catch, and having its mastery leveled roughly doubles how often that happens.
Use a Tempest Totem to force rain. The Northern Pike prefers rainy conditions, so this raises how often it bites in the first place.
Attach Fish Head bait and fish the cavern water until a Pike comes up with the Electric or Electrified prefix. If you land a plain Northern Pike, you can also appraise it in the hope of rolling the mutation rather than fishing for a fresh one.

Trial 3: Hook 2 fish within 15 seconds

Only the hook matters here, not the reel, so Lure Speed is the stat doing the work. Rods like the Onirifalx and the Plaguereaver get a bite almost immediately after the cast lands, which makes two hooks inside the window straightforward.

Swap to your fastest-luring rod and stand somewhere with common, low-rarity spawns. Small species such as the Pink-Spotted Shrimp Goby and Celestial Pearl Danio bite quickly and are ideal for this.

Cast, hook the first fish, and reel it in without hesitating. The clock starts on the first hook, so any wasted second on the reel comes straight out of your window.
Recast immediately and hook the second fish before the timer runs out. If you miss it, the attempt simply resets and you can try again on the next cast.

Trial 4: Catch 5 fish within 15 seconds using a Glitched Potion

Five completed catches in fifteen seconds is not realistic with normal casting, no matter how fast your rod is. The Glitched Potion is the intended shortcut. It gives every catch a chance to duplicate, and the duplicates count toward the trial total.

Drink a Glitched Potion before you cast, and stack it with a fast rod so the individual catches still resolve quickly.

Fish for tiny, high-frequency species. Danionella Cerebrum and Tropical Moenkhausia Pitanga resolve almost instantly, which gives the duplicate roll more chances to fire inside the window.

Keep casting back to back until the potion produces enough duplicates to push you to five inside the timer. If the potion expires before the trial completes, drink another and resume.

Confirming the Rush Charm unlocked

Go back to the Shunsoku Idol once the fourth trial clears. You will see the “Idol Favor Up!” prompt and your Idol Level tick upward, and the Rush Charm becomes selectable alongside the other Charms in the list, such as Relaxation and Endurance.

The Charm does nothing until it is equipped, so open the Crest Amulet and slot it in. From there, every fish you catch on Skycrest feeds its level, and the Progress Speed bonus grows with it.

Why a trial refuses to complete

  • Your rod’s Progress Speed is below 50%, so catches for the first trial are not counted.
  • The Northern Pike you caught has no Electric or Electrified prefix. The plain version does not satisfy the trial.
  • You are fishing for the Pike outside the Astral Cavern at Boreal Pines, where it does not spawn.
  • Catches came from a crab cage or a companion’s spear rather than your own line.
  • The Glitched Potion ran out mid-attempt, leaving you short of five catches inside the window.

Shunsoku is one of the more gear-dependent idols on the island, but none of its trials rely on luck once the right rod is in your hand. Line up the Tempest Rod and a Glitched Potion before you start, and the four objectives fall in the time it takes most players to finish one of them.
