The Blood of Dawnwalker: How to Get The Vrakhir Greatsword

Every Lacra quest you need to clear first, plus the crypt detour that hides the vampiric greatsword.

Every Lacra quest you need to clear first, plus the crypt detour that hides the vampiric greatsword.

The Vrakhir is the greatsword The Blood of Dawnwalker gives you for sticking with its most demanding ally. It is not sitting in a chest you can stumble into on day three, and no merchant sells it. It sits at the tail end of Lacra’s story, deep in a flooded crypt, and if you walk past it to chase the next objective marker, you lose it.

Quick answer: Clear Lacra’s first four quests (A Friend Like This, Song of the Mountain, Hive and Seek, Our Rotten Roots), then return to her camp at night to trigger The Night of Horrors. Inside the sunken crypt, take the side path across the gap and loot The Vrakhir before continuing to the quest marker.

The Vrakhir stats and effects

The Vrakhir is a Unique-rarity greatsword built almost entirely around Coen’s vampire side. Its raw damage is competitive with the game’s other top-tier blades, but the real value is in how much cheaper and faster it makes your vampiric abilities, plus the extra blood you pull from each feed.

RarityUnique
Max Damage70
Weight2.1
Cost1731
Damage Against Untouched+8%
Blood Amount Per Segment+15%
Vampire Focus Ability Cost-8%
Vampire Skill Cooldown-5%

The in-game description keeps it short: “Drains blood just as well as its namesakes do.” That is a fair summary of who it is for. If you are running a claw-and-ability night build, the reduced Focus cost and shorter cooldowns compound with everything else you have stacked. If you fight mostly as a human swordsman during the day, Durandal or the Imbued Sword of St. Mihai will serve you better.

Note: Picking it up late in a run is not a problem. Weapons can be upgraded at blacksmiths, so a blade you acquire deep into the 30 days still scales with you.

Prerequisites: Finding Lacra and starting her chain

Lacra is a vampire who opposes Brencis, and she is one of the two allies who can back you in the final confrontation. She does not appear during the prologue. Rumours about her start circulating either after you bring down the first member of Brencis’ Court, or once you spend time around Svartrau City, and those rumours are what open her questline.

Her chain also runs through Vicho and, eventually, the vampire sire Isbrand. Along the way you visit the chamber where Isbrand is being held, which is where Isbrand’s Plate is hidden in a chest on the right-hand side of the room. Grab that while you are there, because you will not be sent back.

All Lacra quests in order

The fifth quest does not appear until the four before it are finished. There is no shortcut and no alternate trigger.

#QuestWhat it sets up
1A Friend Like ThisIntroduces Lacra and establishes her as an ally against Brencis
2Song of the MountainContinues her investigation into Brencis’ past
3Hive and SeekKobold-infested chamber; Isbrand’s Plate is looted here
4Our Rotten RootsResolves the Isbrand thread
5The Night of HorrorsFinal quest; contains The Vrakhir

Time in Blood of Dawnwalker is spent rather than passing on its own, so this chain costs you a meaningful chunk of your 30 days. Focusing on Court Activities can wrap the main story in seven to ten days, which leaves plenty of room for Lacra’s quests without endangering the rescue.

The Night of Horrors: The Vrakhir location

Return to Lacra’s camp at night. The quest objective explicitly asks you to come back after moonrise, and she will be waiting by the campfire. Speak to her there to formally begin The Night of Horrors.

Follow the marker out to the road and meet Lacra again at the rendezvous point. A “Talk with Lacra” prompt appears when you are close enough; use it to move the quest to its next stage.

Head into the sunken crypt when the objective updates to “Explore the sunken crypt.” The corridors are narrow and hold enemies you can either fight or slip past; neither choice affects the loot.

Stop chasing the marker once you are inside the cavern holding Isbrand’s remains. The Vrakhir is not on the critical path, so ignore the objective arrow for a moment and look for the break in the floor.
Jump the gap to reach the ledge on the far side. Search the bodies and the supernatural remains scattered around that area, and The Vrakhir will be among them.

How to confirm you got it, and why people miss it

Confirmation is straightforward. Open your inventory and look for The Vrakhir under weapons, listed at Unique rarity with 70 Max Damage and the four vampire-focused modifiers. If those figures are not on the item card, you picked up something else.

Two things account for almost every failed attempt. The first is starting the crypt run without having finished all four earlier Lacra quests, in which case The Night of Horrors never appears in the first place. The second is treating the crypt as a corridor and running the objective to its end, which closes out the sequence with the sword still sitting on the far ledge.

The habit worth building here goes beyond one blade. Vale Sangora hides a lot of its best equipment slightly off the marked route, and the game rarely tells you a chest or a body is worth checking. Sweep each quest chamber before you leave it, and The Vrakhir will be one of several pickups you never had to look up.
