Blox Fruits: How to Complete All 3 Marine Fortress Secret Quests

Every trigger, turret, and chat message you need to clear Raise the Flag, Pirate Raid, and the Awakened Vice Admiral.

Every trigger, turret, and chat message you need to clear Raise the Flag, Pirate Raid, and the Awakened Vice Admiral.

Marine Fortress is one of the 16 First Sea islands reworked with Island Secrets, and its three hidden objectives are among the more time-gated ones in the game. Two of them only start when the server decides to start them, which is why players stand around the docks wondering if they missed something. Nothing is missable — you just need to know the exact trigger for each one.

Quick answer: Talk to Parlus in the fortress tower to start Raise the Flag, wait for the “Enemy ships are closing in on the Marine Fortress!” chat alert and shoot down every pirate ship from a turret, then destroy the top half of the central building when the alarm sounds to trigger and kill the awakened Vice Admiral. Three secrets, three stars, 15 levels.

What the Marine Fortress secrets reward

Every Island Secret in the First Sea awards 5 levels and raises your level cap by 5. Across all 40 secrets that adds up to 200 extra levels, so the three at Marine Fortress are worth 15 levels and 15 cap on their own. Clearing all three on the island also unlocks Marine Fortress as a destination on the teleporter inside the central building at Middle Town.

The island itself is tuned for levels 120 to 150, and the Chief Petty Officers and Vice Admirals patrolling it will fight back while you are running errands for Parlus. Come in at or near that range, or expect to be interrupted. If you are not there yet, Blox Fruits gates the fortress behind Frozen Village, so the standard quest route gets you there.

Raise the Flag: find the rope and hold the circle

This is the only secret on the island you can start the moment you arrive, so do it first while you wait for the other two triggers to fire.

Land at the docks, turn right, and climb the watchtower on that corner of the fortress. Parlus is inside, marked by a green SHOP circle. Choose the dialogue option “What’s with the empty flagpole?” to take the quest.

Head to the far left side of the island as seen from the dock, down near the water. The rope is lying on the ground beside a small trade stand structure, usually with a Chief Petty Officer nearby. Walk over it to pick it up.

Return to the central flagpole next to the Marine quest giver and interact with it. A highlighted circle appears at the base — stand inside it until the flag reaches the top. Marines fire cannons at you during the minigame, and stepping out of the circle stalls the progress, so tank the hits rather than dodging away.
Go back up to Parlus once the flag is flying. He comments on his own face being on the fortress banner and pays out the star and levels.

Pirate Raid: wait for the alert, then use the turrets

The raid has no fixed schedule. It fires after an unspecified amount of time spent on the island, announced in chat, and only then does Parlus offer the new dialogue option.

Stay at Marine Fortress and watch chat for “Enemy ships are closing in on the Marine Fortress!” Rather than idling for it, open the menu and server hop — jumping between servers until one is already showing the alert is far quicker than waiting one out.

Once the message appears, talk to Parlus again. A new dialogue option unlocks; accepting it spawns the pirate brigade outside the fortress walls.

Climb into one of the fortress turrets and sit in it. Fire on the incoming ships and destroy every one of them — the quest does not complete until the whole brigade is gone. If you have the Creation fruit, a temporary wall thrown up around the docks keeps the ships from closing in and shooting the cannons out from under you.
Two chat lines confirm the clear. First “The raiders have been repelled! The Marine Fortress stands.”, then a line naming you as the player who drove the pirate brigade off the fortress.

Awakened Vice Admiral: blow the top off the central tower

The third star is an awakened boss fight, and it runs on the hourly awakening cycle rather than on anything you do. The regular Vice Admiral you grind for quests does not count.

During the final 10 minutes of any hour, speak to the Secrets Master in Middle Town and ask which boss stirs next. He names the boss that will awaken at the top of the following hour. If he says Vice Admiral, head to Marine Fortress.
Wait for the chat line “An alarm has sounded at Marine Fortress!” The fort cannons immediately start firing across the island, which is your cue that the sequence is live.
Destroy the top half of the tall central building to silence the cannons. Using one of the fortress cannons to shell the tower is the quickest way to knock it down. When the upper section collapses, the boss sequence begins.
Fight the awakened Vice Admiral inside the building and finish it. Chat confirms the kill with a line naming you as the player who defeated the awakened Vice Admiral, and you get a roll on the Awakened Boss Gacha on top of the star.

Tip: awakened boss damage does not scale to your level, so a higher-level character can shortcut the fight. Cyborg V3’s Energy Core and Draco V3’s Flash Step passive both chew through these bosses regardless of the level shown on the health bar.

Why a Marine Fortress secret won’t complete

A handful of specific things stop these three from registering, and none of them are subtle once you know what to look for.

  • Parlus has no new option. The raid dialogue only exists after the chat alert appears in that server. No alert, no option.
  • Someone else took the spawn. Some Island Secrets only allow one player to complete them per spawn, so a contested server means waiting for the next cycle or hopping.
  • You killed the normal Vice Admiral. Only the awakened version triggered by the alarm counts toward the star.
  • You only got 2 levels. A known bug pays out 2 of the 5 levels. Keep talking to the quest NPC until the rest arrive — leaving the server before you do means losing them permanently.

Once all three stars are logged, Marine Fortress appears on the Middle Town teleporter, which makes coming back for the awakened Vice Admiral gacha roll each time it spawns a lot less painful than sailing over.
