Anime Vanguards 2nd Anniversary Update: What to Prepare First

The gem, reroll, and unit targets worth hitting before the Transcendent-themed anniversary content goes live.

The gem, reroll, and unit targets worth hitting before the Transcendent-themed anniversary content goes live.

The anniversary update is the biggest swing Anime Vanguards takes each year, and the version currently on the way is shaping up around Transcendent units and a heavy Solo Leveling theme. There is no official release date or time confirmed for it yet, which is good news if your account is short on currency. The prep work is all farmable, and most of it is easier right now than it will be once the servers fill up on day one.

Quick answer: Bank 1–2 million gems, at least 5,000 trait rerolls and 5,000 Memoria Shards, finish the Song Jinwu and Igros quest, and clear every Odyssey proficiency and ascension before the update drops.

Resource targets to hit before the anniversary update

Every anniversary lands with new units, new evolutions, and a shop that eats materials. These are the numbers worth treating as a floor rather than a goal.

ResourceTargetWhy it matters
Gems1,000,000–2,000,000Summoning on a new banner on day one without stopping to grind
Trait Rerolls5,000+Rolling top traits on new units immediately
Memoria Shards5,000+Rolling on new Memoria that ship alongside the units
Song Jinwu and IgrosUnlockedThe Vanguard tied to the Transcendent rarity

Note: rerolls you farm yourself cannot be traded. Only rerolls bought from the Robux reroll shop are tradeable, so stockpiling is the only route for most players.

Fastest ways to farm gems right now

Gems are the least painful part of the checklist because several modes hand them out in fixed chunks. The Wartorn Warfront event is the single biggest source available, paying 100,000 gems per completed match for up to five matches a day until Update 15.5. That alone is 500,000 gems daily if you clear all five.

Outside of Warfront, Limitless Odyssey is the most time-efficient loop. You can skip waves there, so a run to 100 intensity can finish in two to four minutes for 500 gems. Boss Bounties give a guaranteed 500 gems each, capped at ten per day. Worldlines pays 500 gems per floor across the first 50 floors of Worlds Collide, dropping to 150 gems per floor in Infinite Convergence. Elemental Towers gives 500 gems per floor except every fifth floor, which swaps in special rewards instead. If you have PvP coins sitting unused, they convert at 250 gems per coin, up to 25,000 gems for 100 coins. You can run all of these straight from the Anime Vanguards Roblox page.

Clear Odyssey proficiencies and ascensions for bulk trait rerolls

Odyssey is where the reroll stockpile actually comes from. Finishing every proficiency and every ascension in the mode can pay out north of 20,000 trait rerolls in total, which is far more than any daily event shop will hand you in the same window.

One detail that trips people up: those rerolls come from the Level Tree, not from random floor drops. That means the Odyssey Outrage event, which doubles Odyssey and Adventure rewards, does not double your trait rerolls or Memoria Shards. Run Odyssey for the tree progress regardless of whether that event is active.

For Memoria Shards, the Lunar Bridge dungeon shop sells them at 5 Controller Tokens each up to a cap of 500, with trait rerolls at the same price and cap. Gauntlet placements also mail out rerolls and shards, with first place paying 300 of each for your first five top-four finishes in a week.

Unlock Song Jinwu and Igros before the shortcut ends

Song Jinwu and Igros is the unit the Transcendent rarity is built around, and it is a quest unlock rather than a banner pull. The Transcendent Preparations event is currently making that quest noticeably shorter. While it is active, the Red Key quest only asks you to defeat the Ant King 10 times and summon 1,000 shadows with Arise.

Open the Units screen and confirm whether Song Jinwu and Igros is already in your inventory. If it is there, you can skip the quest entirely and move on to the resource targets.

If you do not own it, run the Red Key quest while the shortened requirements are live. Killing the Ant King 10 times is the harder half, so slot your strongest single-target damage unit for those runs.
If you care about how the transcended form looks, chase the shiny variant, which puts Song Jinwu in a suit. This is purely cosmetic and should never delay the base unlock.

God (Dio Over Heaven) and the Solo Leveling roster

God, the Dio Over Heaven unit added during the previous anniversary, is a Secret with a 0.02% drop rate and a time stop ability that made it the standout of Update 9.0. It has drifted out of the top of the meta since, but Vanguard Familiars have a habit of dragging older signature units straight back into relevance, and God is an obvious candidate for one.

Copies of God circulate widely enough that trading is a realistic route if the banner has not been kind to you. The trade menu sits on the right side of the hub UI, and unit trading requires Level 50 or above.

The Solo Leveling side of the roster is worth the same treatment. Cha-In, Igris, and Choi are all plausible candidates for Vanguard Familiars, Memoria, or evolution material tied to Song Jinwu, given how the update is themed. Hold them rather than selling them for gold.

One more thing worth using before it disappears: the Classic Return event has added Rogita (Super 4) and Divalo (Requiem) to the gem banner until the anniversary arrives. You can swap which one you summon for, each with its own one-time pity, though shiny variants are not obtainable this way.

Bring a current meta team, not a months-old one

Anniversary stages get tuned against whatever the strongest recent units can do, not against an average account. Returning players who log in with a lineup they built several updates ago will stall out on the new content quickly, no matter how many gems they saved.

Two clusters currently carry that weight. The Dragon Sphere group, built around Boo (Evil) and its transformations alongside a heavy hitter like Super Vegito, holds up well in extended waves. Late-game Vanguards like Gilgamesh (King of Heroes) cover the raw damage ceiling. If neither is on your account, closing that gap matters more than another 500,000 gems.

How to confirm your account is ready

Everything on the checklist is visible from the hub UI without opening a single menu deeper than the inventory. Your gem, gold, trait reroll, and Memoria Shard counters sit along the top of the screen, so a single glance tells you whether you have cleared the 1 million gem and 5,000 reroll marks.

For Odyssey, open the Odyssey menu from the Archer NPC and check that no proficiencies or ascensions are still showing as incomplete. For Song Jinwu and Igros, the unit either appears in your Units list or it does not, and the Red Key quest will show as completed once the Ant King and Arise requirements are both met.

None of this expires the moment the update lands. Gems and rerolls carry over, and the units stay on your account. The only real cost of skipping the prep is spending the opening day of the anniversary farming currency instead of playing the content everyone else is already clearing.
