Crimson Desert: How to Fix the Disconnected Kiln at the Kilnden Workshop

The disconnected kiln is one of three repair jobs Grimnir hands you during Kiln Repair at the Kilnden Workshop, the main quest that opens Chapter 4 of Crimson Desert. It is the simplest of the three, and it trips people up for one reason only: the loose power line sits low against the stone base, so it is easy to walk past without ever seeing the interaction prompt.

Quick answer: Circle the base of the kiln until you find the thick cable or pipe pulled out of its socket, stand in the gap between the two ends, hold the interact button to plug it back in, then push one of the yellow cranks on the kiln until it locks. The kiln lights with fire and smoke and the objective clears.

Power the ancient generator first

The kiln cannot draw power until the ancient generator is running, so solve that puzzle before you bother with the cable. The generator is the tall cylindrical stone structure near Grimnir, and it has three rotating rings of symbols at the top plus one permanently lit symbol below them.

Use the switch at the base to pick which ring is active, then push the yellow crank to rotate it. Each ring clicks into place with an audio cue. Line all of them up so the same triangular symbol forms a straight column with the lit one, and the generator turns on. Only then do the three kiln markers become worth visiting.

Where the disconnected kiln is

Three quest markers ring the generator, one for each kiln, and you can tackle them in any order. The disconnected kiln is the one that already looks structurally intact — no missing chunks, no scattered debris nearby, just cold and dead. It sits on the eastern side of the workshop grounds.

If you are not sure which marker you are standing at, look at the ground. The dismantled kiln has large stone pieces lying around it, and the fuel kiln has glowing blue orbs nearby. The disconnected one has neither.

Reconnect the generator cable

Walk a full lap around the base of the kiln at ground level. You are looking for a heavy cable or pipe that has been pulled clear of its socket, leaving a visible gap in the run of piping. It is easy to miss from a distance because it blends into the stonework.
Stand in the gap between the loose end and the socket, close enough that the interaction prompt appears on screen. The on-screen text tells you to reconnect the generator cable to activate the kiln.

Hold the interact button until the cable snaps back into the socket. Do not release early — this is a hold, not a tap.
Keep circling. Depending on the state your kiln is in, there can be a second loose cable on the opposite side of the structure. If the kiln still refuses to respond after the first reconnection, the other side is where to look.

Push the yellow crank to fire the kiln

Reconnecting power does not light the kiln by itself. There are yellow wooden cranks jutting out from opposite sides of the structure, and pushing either one is what actually starts it. Walk up to a crank, push against it, and keep pushing until it locks into position.

Note: pushing drains stamina. If Kliff stops mid-push and the game flashes “Not enough stamina,” step back, let the bar refill, and shove it again. This is the same crank interaction you will use on the other two kilns later in the quest.

How to confirm the kiln is repaired

Success is unmistakable. The kiln roars to life with fire and a thick column of smoke, the quest marker above it disappears, and the objective text updates to the next task in the chain. If you go after the fuel kiln next, the tracker switches to “Put fuel into the kiln.”

Why the kiln won’t activate

What is happeningWhat to do
No prompt appears at the baseMove closer and centre yourself on the gap between the cable end and its socket. The prompt has a tight range.
Cable plugs in but nothing lights upPush one of the yellow cranks. Reconnecting power is only half the step.
The crank stops partwayStamina ran out. Wait for it to recover, then push again until it clicks into place.
Crank does nothing at allThe generator is not running. Go back and align all the rings on the ancient generator first.
Still dead after one reconnectionCheck the far side of the kiln for a second loose cable.

With this one burning, two markers remain. The dismantled kiln needs its scattered pieces stacked with Axiom Force and fused with an Aerial Force Palm, and the last kiln needs five glowing fuel orbs dropped into the chutes at its base. Once all three are lit, head back to Grimnir to close out the quest and collect the Kuku Pot, the storage item you will need for a long list of puzzles across the rest of the map.
