The “Put fuel into the kiln” objective is the fiddliest part of Kiln Repair at the Kilnden Workshop, the Chapter IV main quest where Kliff patches up Grimnir’s broken pottery works in Hernand. It’s the objective marked furthest north of the ancient generator, and it asks you to hunt down five glowing blue fuel orbs scattered around the kiln and feed them into the round ports on its exterior.
Quick answer: Collect five blue fuel orbs — two on the ground beside the kiln, one lying in the flooded area, one lodged in the eye of a bird statue, and one at a small cave mouth nearby — carry each with Axiom Force (hold L3), drop them into the circular openings around the kiln, then push the wooden lever to fire it up.

Requirements before you can fuel the kiln
Two things need to be in place. The ancient generator on the hill has to be running, since that’s what powers the workshop’s kilns, and you need Axiom Force, the telekinetic grab you trigger by holding L3 (left stick click). Pulling one specific orb also needs the pull input, held with L2/LT while the beam is locked on.
The fuel kiln is one of three you repair during this quest, and the objectives can be tackled in any order. If you’d rather not wander, open the map and zoom in on your position — the five fuel orbs show up as circular icons in the immediate area, so you can pin their rough positions before you set off.

Every orb sits within a short walk of the kiln, and all of them glow bright blue, which makes them easy to spot at night or in the shaded water. Only one requires anything more than a simple grab.
| Orb | Where it is | How to take it |
|---|---|---|
| 1 and 2 | On the ground right beside the kiln, near the stone ledge and clay pots | Hold L3 to grab, carry to the nearest port |
| 3 | Lying in the shallow water of the flooded area west of the kiln | Straightforward Axiom Force grab |
| 4 | Set into the eye of the bird-shaped statue in the same flooded area, its head glowing blue | Stand to the side, hold L3 to lock onto the eye, then hold L2/LT to pull it free |
| 5 | At the mouth of a small rocky cave a few metres from the kiln, toward the generator hill | Grab it inside the cave and carry it back |

Note: the statue orb is the one players most often miss, because it reads as part of the sculpture rather than as loose fuel. Approach it from the side rather than head-on so the beam latches onto the eye instead of the statue body.
How to load the fuel orbs into the kiln

If the kiln won’t light or an orb is missing
The lever does nothing until every port is filled, so a kiln that refuses to fire almost always means one orb is still out in the world. Recount the lit ports on the kiln, then check the map icons again — the cave orb and the statue eye are the two that get overlooked.
There is a known issue where the cave orb fails to spawn at all. Restarting the game is the first fix to try. If it still isn’t there after a reboot, load an older autosave from the end of the previous quest and replay from that point, which reliably places the orb back in the world.
With the fuel kiln burning, the objective ticks off and you’re free to finish the other two repairs — the disconnected kiln to the south-east, fixed by reattaching its power cable, and the dismantled kiln, which needs two broken pieces stacked and locked in with an aerial Force Palm. Once all three are running, head back to Grimnir at the generator to close out the quest and set the Mysterious Pot in motion.
