MONOCHROME drops you into a sealed gray room with a locked elevator, a keypad, and a boarded doorway. Everything you need to get out is hidden in the corridors below, and something is walking them while you search. The run is short once you know the loop, but the layout behaves like a maze and the drawers you need to open are scattered across dozens of identical rooms.
Quick answer: Pry the planks off the “DO NOT ENTER” doorway, go down the stairs, and search dressers until you find four keys. Carry each key back to the lock panel beside the elevator, read the four-digit number printed on a block in the maze, punch it into the keypad, then press Open Elevator once all four indicator lights are green.
What the escape actually requires
The escape has two independent locks. The mechanical side is four deadbolts, each opened by a separate key. The electronic side is a single keypad entry. Neither one substitutes for the other, and you cannot skip the search by knowing the number in advance.
| Element | What it does |
|---|---|
| Four keys | Found inside dresser drawers in the basement corridors. Each one is inserted into the lock panel next to the elevator and turns one indicator light green. |
| Four-digit keypad | Releases the elevator’s electronic lock. The number is printed on a slip resting on a block in the maze. |
| The monster | A tall horned figure that patrols the corridors. Contact triggers a jumpscare, costs a life, and respawns you upstairs. |
| Wardrobes | Wooden closets scattered through the halls. Press E to step inside and wait out a patrol. |
| Radar gamepass | Optional paid feature explained on the tutorial slides before the run starts. |
MONOCHROME was made by @paramodal and is still labelled early development, so the corridor layout can shift between builds. The most recent update signal on the experience page points to September 8, 2026.

Finding the four keys in the drawers
Keys only ever appear inside furniture. Every dresser and drawer in the corridor network is an interactable container, and the keys sit inside them rather than on floors, shelves, or tables. Placement is not fixed to one memorized route, so treat the basement as something you sweep methodically.
Walk up to a dresser, press E to open the drawer, and look inside. If a key is there, a Take Key prompt appears and the key goes straight into your hands. Empty drawers give nothing, so move on immediately rather than searching the same room twice.

Because the halls repeat, the fastest way to avoid re-checking furniture is to leave searched drawers open. An opened drawer switches its prompt to Drawer Close, which gives you a visible marker that the room is already cleared.

Take each key back up the stairs as soon as you have it. There is no reason to hoard them, and dying with a key in hand costs you the trip back. Insert it at the lock panel beside the elevator and watch one indicator switch to green. That green light is your confirmation the deadbolt is released.
Tip: pairs of keys sometimes turn up in neighbouring rooms. If you find one, clear the furniture in the adjacent rooms before climbing back up.
Reading the number and unlocking the keypad
Somewhere in the maze sits a pale block with a small slip of paper on top, printed with four digits. That number is the keypad entry for the elevator, and it is worth grabbing early because you will pass the block while hunting for keys anyway.

Carry the digits back to the panel next to the elevator and enter them in order, with no spaces or extra presses. Stand close enough for the interaction prompts to register, and enter each digit slowly if the panel keeps clearing itself. A correct entry releases the electronic lock; the mechanical deadbolts still need all four keys.

Surviving the monster while you search
The monster roams the corridors on its own path and kills on contact. Getting caught plays a jumpscare, deducts a life from the counter shown on the death screen, and drops you back at the elevator lobby upstairs. Keys you have already inserted stay inserted, so a death costs time rather than progress.
Wardrobes are the counter. Press E next to one to climb in, and wait until the footsteps pass. It will sometimes stop directly in front of the closet opening and stare in before walking away, which is survivable as long as you stay put. Note which wardrobes you pass on the way into a new wing so you always have one within a few seconds of running.
Avoid sprinting down long straight hallways where it has clear line of sight, and stop opening drawers the moment you hear it nearby. Most deaths happen when players are mid-interaction with furniture and cannot react.
Opening the elevator and finishing the run
Why the elevator will not open
- One of the four indicators is still unlit, which means a key is sitting in a drawer somewhere or still in your inventory.
- The keypad entry was typed with an extra press or out of order, so the electronic lock never released. Re-enter the digits slowly.
- You are standing too far from the panel for the interaction prompt to register.
- You are in a different Roblox experience with a similar name. The escape run described here is the one published by @paramodal.
Codes
MONOCHROME has no promo code system and no redemption menu, so there is nothing to type in for free rewards. The only number that matters is the keypad entry, and it is not a fixed value shared across every server — 0333 and 5343 have both appeared at the elevator panel in different runs. Read the digits off the block in the maze during your own run and enter them at the panel beside the elevator.
A clean solo run comes down to rhythm more than route knowledge. Sweep a wing of rooms, leave the drawers open behind you, duck into a wardrobe whenever the footsteps get close, and walk each key upstairs the moment you pick it up. With the game still in early development and a second part in the works, expect the corridors to grow, but the four-keys-and-a-keypad structure is what the current build is built around.
