Search for the Needle Classes Ranked: Every Class Tier List (September 2026)

Where all eight classes land, why Ultimate Farmer sits on top, and what each passive actually does during a run.

Classes in Search for the Needle are passive archetypes that change how fast you tear through the haystack. Some let you carry more hay, some sharpen a specific tool, and a few generate extra resources while you clear. Picking one that fits the way you play cuts real time off every run, so here is how all eight stack up.

Quick answer: Ultimate Farmer is the strongest class because it stacks every other class bonus at once and can trigger Golden Harvest. If you cannot land it, Demolitionist, Drone Specialist, and Forkmaster are the next best picks.

Placements reflect how much each passive shortens a normal haystack clear. Classes that consistently speed up collection or strengthen the tools you lean on the most rank higher. Roll odds are listed later for reference, but they do not change where a class lands. This ranking reflects the class lineup as of September 2026.

How you unlock classes

You cannot buy a class outright. Classes come from spins at the Classes station in the lobby, and each spin costs 40 Gems. Gems are the permanent currency, separate from the Cash you earn selling hay, so treat them as a limited progression resource. Every class has its own roll chance, and the strongest ones are also the rarest. You can start a run and reach the Classes station inside the official Roblox experience.

Why Ultimate Farmer tops the list

Ultimate Farmer is the only S-tier class, and it earns it by carrying every other class bonus at the same time. You get the extra carry capacity, stronger Pitchfork and Dynamite effects, better hay selling value, and the rest of the passives without ever choosing between them. On top of that, it periodically activates Golden Harvest, which gives it a ceiling nothing else can match. The catch is the 0.1% roll chance, so most players will spend a long time chasing it.

The A-tier clearing specialists

Demolitionist is the pick for players who want raw clearing speed. Dynamite is valuable because blasted hay drops loose on the ground, so you can wipe out big sections without constantly worrying about bag capacity. A 20% larger blast radius plus a 10% chance to split the TNT into three mini charges turns an already strong tool into one that clears even faster.

Forkmaster shines the moment the Pitchfork becomes your main tool. Collecting 25% more hay per swing means fewer actions to remove the same pile, and the 25% cut to Pitchfork upgrade costs keeps you improving that tool cheaply as the run goes on.

Drone Specialist sits slightly behind those two because its help is less tied to direct destruction. Still, it hands you a Drone without buying one, flies it 30% faster, carries 40% more hay, and can occasionally spawn a three-Drone swarm. That makes moving large amounts of hay far easier during longer runs.

B and C tier: situational value

Pack Mule is strong early because a 50% capacity boost in every bag means fewer trips to the cow while you are still collecting by hand. Its value fades once tools take over the run, which keeps it in the middle. Hay Merchant adds 20% to the money you earn selling hay, helping you reach Dynamite, the Pitchfork, and other upgrades sooner, but it does nothing for collection speed itself.

Prospector drops to C tier because it is built around extra resources rather than faster clearing. Diamonds appear 50% more often as you collect, and hay can turn into Diamonds outright. That is nice for value, but it does little to remove hay quickly, which is what most runs care about.

Why Starter sits at the bottom

Starter is the default class and provides no bonuses at all. It works perfectly well for learning the loop, but the moment you unlock any class with a real passive, there is no reason to keep it for serious runs. That is why it lands in D tier.

Every class, bonus, and roll chance

ClassRoll chanceBonus
Ultimate Farmer0.1%Every other class bonus at once; periodic Golden Harvest
Demolitionist7%+20% Dynamite blast radius; 10% chance to split into 3 mini charges
Forkmaster9%+25% hay per Pitchfork swing; −25% Pitchfork upgrade cost
Drone Specialist1%Always own a Drone; 30% faster, carries 40% more; chance of a 3-Drone swarm
Pack Mule25%+50% carry capacity in every bag
Hay Merchant14%+20% money from selling hay
Prospector3.9%Diamonds appear 50% more often; hay can turn into Diamonds
Starter40%Default class, no bonuses

Note: A higher tier does not mean you should keep spinning blindly. A B-tier class that fixes your current bottleneck often does more for a run than an S-tier passive you cannot roll. If trips to the cow are slowing you down, Pack Mule helps now; if clearing is the problem, chase Demolitionist or Forkmaster while you build toward the rarer picks.
