Borderlands 4: Spatial Awareness Full Quest Walkthrough

Spatial Awareness is a DLC side mission tucked into the Vinechoked Canopy, and it’s short enough to finish in one sitting once you know where to stand. The whole thing is a shrink gimmick: a scientist needs someone small enough to crawl into a circuit board, clear out the bugs eating it, and physically twist the wiring back into place. The payoff is a legendary weapon called the Rusted People’s Flewdy.

Quick answer: Talk to Rafa at the lab in the Vinechoked Canopy, accept Spatial Awareness, enter the shrink rift, kill every Creep attacking the circuit board, melee the circuit connectors until the current flows end to end, then exit through the rift and hand the job back to Rafa to claim the Rusted People’s Flewdy.

Spatial Awareness requirements and mission details

This is DLC content, not a base-game side mission, so it won’t appear on your map at all without the right unlock. It sits behind the Lost Resort DLC and FL4K, and the quest itself is handed out through Rafa, who acts as the DLC side mission giver. The actual client is Verita, the scientist whose circuit board is under attack.

Full Spatial Awareness walkthrough

Open your map in the Vinechoked Canopy and set a waypoint on the Spatial Awareness marker. The route runs through a stretch of caves and then up into a facility, so a vehicle saves you a few minutes on the approach. Drive to the base of the structure and climb up on foot.

Find Rafa inside the lab and interact to start the conversation. Accept Spatial Awareness from the dialogue options when it appears. The mission will now sit in your active tracker with its first objective pointing at the rift.

Walk up to the device in the middle of the room and activate the shrink rift. Step through once it’s live. You’ll come out miniaturized inside the circuit board chamber, which is where the rest of the mission plays out.

Clear the Creeps swarming the board. The objective reads “Kill bugs in the system,” and they arrive in multiple waves rather than all at once, so keep moving around the chamber instead of committing to one corner. The next objective only appears after the last wave is dead.

Switch to the “Fix circuits” objective and look for the rotating connector pieces along the board. Melee each one to turn it, and keep rotating until every segment lines up and the current runs unbroken from one end of the path to the other. Shooting them does nothing here, so use melee.

Head back to the portal and step through to return to normal size. The chamber has no further objectives once power is restored, so there’s nothing to sweep up before you leave.

Return to Rafa and turn in the mission. The Rusted People’s Flewdy drops as the completion reward, and you can inspect it from your inventory right away.

Creep enemy types inside the circuit board

The bugs are not all the same, and a couple of variants are built to punish you for standing still on a narrow circuit path. Expect these to show up across the waves:

Tip: bring something with splash or a wide spread. The waves cluster tightly around the board, and single-target precision weapons make the fight longer than it needs to be.

How to confirm Spatial Awareness is complete

Completion is confirmed at Rafa, not at the circuit board. Restoring power and exiting the rift only advances the tracker to a turn-in objective, so the mission stays active in your log until you speak to him again. Once the conversation ends, Spatial Awareness clears from your active missions and the Rusted People’s Flewdy lands in your inventory.

Two things stall people here. If the mission marker never appears in the Vinechoked Canopy, the Lost Resort DLC ownership and FL4K requirement are the reason to check first. If the “Fix circuits” objective refuses to complete, at least one connector is still rotated wrong, so walk the full length of the circuit and look for the break in the current rather than re-hitting the pieces you already turned.

For a side mission built around a one-off shrinking gimmick, Spatial Awareness is refreshingly direct. There’s no backtracking, no fetch leg, and no hidden second phase after the puzzle. Clear the board, straighten the wiring, and walk out with a legendary.
