Mortal Shell 2: Sir Isaac, the Scholar-Prince Boss Location

The exact route from the Gate of Infinity through the Ashen Sanctum to the Scholar-Prince’s arena, plus his drops.

Sir Isaac, the Scholar-Prince is the main boss sealed behind the southern Corrupted Gate in Mortal Shell 2, and he is one of the last major encounters most players reach. He is not hidden behind an optional side path, but you cannot walk to him directly either: the gate that leads to his arena stays shut until you clear a separate dungeon and cleanse the beacon in front of it.

Quick answer: Cleanse the Gate of Infinity Beacon, pass through its Corrupted Gate into the Ashen Sanctum, defeat the Servants of the Scholar-Prince, then continue past the Citadel Atrium Beacon and cross the gates.

Sir Isaac, the Scholar-Prince location in Mortal Shell 2

Isaac sits at the end of the Faded Citadel, the dungeon tied to the Gate of Infinity in the Ruins of Mammon. His arena itself is inside the Ashen Sanctum, the sub-area you enter once the Corrupted Gate opens. He is the seventh of the game’s eleven main bosses and the forty-first entry on the full list of 45 bosses and minibosses, so expect to arrive here well into the second half of a playthrough.

What you need before the Corrupted Gate opens

The gate in front of the Faded Citadel is corrupted, and corrupted gates only open after the matching beacon has been cleansed. That cleansing sends you into the Forbidden Archives, a library dungeon with its own miniboss at the end.

  • Access to the Gate of Infinity Beacon in the Ruins of Mammon.
  • The Grimorium Obscurum, found on a candlelit altar atop a bookshelf in the Forbidden Archives.
  • A win against the Gloombound Wraith in the hidden archive chamber.
  • At least 1 Glimpse if you want the Lazlo summon at the arena entrance.

Route to Sir Isaac’s arena

Approach the dormant Gate of Infinity Beacon and hold the revitalise prompt to start the beacon challenge. You drop into the Forbidden Archives, where robed cultists patrol the corridors and bookshelf platforming carries you up to perched enemies. Pick up the Grimorium Obscurum, place it on the floor altar to open the bookshelf wall, then kill the Gloombound Wraith inside to earn the Curseblood Stone and cleanse the beacon.
With the beacon cleansed and the Ova claimed, walk through the now-open Corrupted Gate. Cross the first hallway and take the staircase down, which drops you into the Ashen Sanctum.

Work through the Ashen Sanctum along its stone pathways. Large multi-legged arachnid horrors and floating caster enemies hold most of the ground here, and the layout is linear enough that there is only one real path forward.

Keep going until you reach a secluded pocket of the sanctum holding the Citadel Annex Beacon. Revitalise it. This is your closest checkpoint for the rest of the run-up, so it saves a long walk if the Servants fight goes badly.
Head into the circular chamber and pull the stone lever to ride the lift up into the upper citadel halls.
Clear the Depraved enemies ahead and extinguish the blue flames in two separate zones to bring down the Servants of the Scholar-Prince. The flames are the fight’s actual win condition, so chasing the enemies without dousing them wastes time.

Continue forward and head down the stairs. The Citadel Atrium Beacon sits on your left, and there are stone altars nearby that break open for Tar and Laternite. Rest here and spend anything you have saved, because this is the last beacon before the boss.

From the beacon, move past the stairs you just came down and cross the gates. A high ledge holds Ruk and the Lazlo summon sign, and dropping down from there starts the encounter.

What to do at the arena entrance

Ruk waits on the ledge above the arena and tells you what happened to Isaac. The prince was ill, and the treatment Ruk and the Scholars of Marrow Keep attempted mutated him into the winged, insect-like figure you are about to fight. His line, “Prepare yourself. The prince is near,” is your cue that the drop-down is immediately ahead.

Activate the Lazlo summon before you drop in. It costs just 1 Glimpse and pulls aggro long enough for you to apply a Tarstone coating or line up sidearm shots.

The Scholar’s Wormstone unlocks an ability for the Clockwork Scythe that steadily drains Resolve to keep the saw running and empowers your attacks while it is active. Isaac also drops the Ova the gate requires, which is what actually advances the main story.

How to confirm you are in the right place

Two on-screen confirmations tell you the route worked. The first is the “Beacon Cleansed: Gate of Infinity” message after the Forbidden Archives, which is the moment the Corrupted Gate becomes passable. The second is the cutscene that plays once you drop from the ledge past the Citadel Atrium Beacon, showing a winged armoured figure with a large shield and sword landing on an altar. If you have reached the Citadel Atrium Beacon but not seen that cutscene, you have not crossed the gates past the stairs yet.

One arena quirk worth knowing: the Week 1 Update repaired Isaac’s arena navigation, removed a stray lunge from one of his second-phase attacks, and fixed his phase transition riposte against a wall, so an up-to-date install behaves differently from launch-day footage.
