Rockbottom Blues is the ninth Nightmare Door trial in Marvel’s Wolverine, and it is one of the pure traversal challenges rather than a combat gauntlet. There are no enemies and no scoring system to grind. The clock starts, and the only thing that matters is how fast Logan reaches the purple beam at the far end of a snowbound Japanese temple.
Quick answer: Finish Rockbottom Blues in under 47 seconds to earn Adamantium. The door appears during Death Comes to Death, just outside the security office — follow the purple roots toward the left.
Rockbottom Blues medal times
All four ranks are decided by a single number, and the thresholds are shown on the HUD during the run alongside the elapsed timer. There is no partial credit and no bonus for style.
| Rank | Completion time |
|---|---|
| Adamantium | Under 0:47 |
| Gold | Under 0:50 |
| Silver | Under 1:00 |
| Bronze | 1:00 or slower |
A clean run with no missed swings lands around 00:45:43, which clears the Adamantium line with a small buffer. That means you can afford roughly one fumbled landing, but not two.
Platinum only requires Adamantium on a single trial out of the fifteen. Because Rockbottom Blues has no combat and no enemy damage, it is one of the cleanest places to secure that requirement.

Add to Google Preferences →Nightmare Door 9 location in Death Comes to Death
The door sits in the chapter Death Comes to Death, during the objective to locate the Helix Engine. Work through the fight inside the restaurant first, then complete the story beat where you review the security footage. The door only becomes relevant once you step back out of the security office.
Leaving the office, look to the left side of the area. Glowing purple roots run along the floor, and they lead down through a misty basement and into a wooden cabin. Follow them under the low pipes and keep going until the purple flame portal ignites inside the cabin. There is a lootable chest tucked along the basement route that hands over 50 crafting materials, so it is worth the two-second detour before you interact with the portal.

Approaching the flame brings up the trial card reading Rockbottom Blues with the objective “TRAVERSAL: Reach the exit.” Select ENTER TRIAL, wait out the three-second countdown, and the timer begins the moment control returns.
The fastest route through the trial
The course is a single forward line through a night-time temple in the snow. Hold R2 for the entire run — sprinting never needs to be released, and every jump, swing and climb chains directly into the next one if you keep the stick pointed down the path.

Rewards and how to confirm the Adamantium rank
The results screen appears immediately after you enter the beam. It lists your Time and Best Time, and the rank banner reads Adamantium if you came in under the 47-second line. Anything slower shows the corresponding lower medal, and RETRY sits right there on the same screen.
A successful run pays out Ability Points and +1 STRAND. The AP counter ticks up on the results screen itself, and a prompt appears telling you that unused Strands are available. Strands are spent in the Adaptations tab of the menu, so the reward is only converted into a real upgrade once you open that tab and slot it.
Higher medals also feed more Adaptation XP, which is what pushes you toward Adaptation Level 10 over the course of all fifteen trials.
Replaying Rockbottom Blues after the story
Nothing here is missable. If you walk past the door during Death Comes to Death, or you settle for Bronze the first time, the trial remains available afterwards. Interact with the bed in the Nightmare Cabin to reach chapter select, or replay the trial directly from the cabin once the campaign is finished.
Coming back later is the practical approach for the Adamantium time. By the end of the story Logan has more traversal skills unlocked, which shaves time off the same route without any change in your line. The Collectible Tracker in the pause menu also shows how many of the 14 doors you have discovered, so you can check whether door 9 registered before moving on.
