Stillcloud Station is a build site, not a finished landmark. Arrive before the rail work has progressed and the platform is empty — no argument, no quest prompt, no Wandering Tale to pick up. The fix is to feed building materials into the rail project through the Cloudscale Pedestal at the site, which opens the Construct the Skytouch Rail menu for the Jadestream Valley-Archveil Hub line.

Things that gate the encounter:

Completion of the A Flourishing Legacy quest.
Completion of the Rising Beyond quest, which introduces the water railway.
Submitted building materials on the Jadestream Valley-Archveil Hub rail line.
A zone reload after the submission, so the NPCs can populate the platform.

If the platform still looks deserted right after you donate materials, teleport away and come back. Old Zhong and Zhong Buhui show up on the wooden deck once the area reloads.

Set in His Ways walkthrough in Jadestream Valley

Fast travel to the Jadestream Valley landmark and head up to the wooden platform at Stillcloud Station. Old Zhong and his son, Zhong Buhui, are arguing there about an old puppet part.

Listen to the argument, then interact with Old Zhong using the F prompt. Agreeing to help registers Set in His Ways in your Wandering Tales log and triggers a New Clue Acquired notification for the Damaged Part.

Open the Wandering Tales Details menu to read the clue, then pull up the world map. The follow-up marker sits west of Stillcloud Station, over by Masterwood Hamlet.

Travel to the waypoint on foot or by gliding down across the valley. The route crosses bridges, village paths and rooftops, and the objective marker keeps a live distance readout so you can correct course.

Find the Artisan at his workbench stall and use the F Artisan prompt. Hand over the Damaged Part and he gives you the Revised Puppet Blueprints, the new crafting diagram for the bronze puppet.

Open the map and fast travel back to the Jadestream Valley landmark, then run or glide up to Stillcloud Station again.

Speak to Old Zhong one more time and pick the Submit the diagram option. Sit through the closing exchange between father and son and the tale wraps up on the spot.

How to confirm Set in His Ways is complete

Two things fire the moment the final dialogue ends. A Set in His Ways Ending Unlocked notification appears, and the rewards screen rolls out with the Echo Jade, Hidden Mountain, Coin and Stored EXP totals listed together.

For a permanent check, open the Exploration menu and go to Wandering Tales. The Set in His Ways entry for Jadestream Valley should be flagged as Completed, with its description and reward list still visible underneath. If it is not marked that way, the diagram was never submitted and Old Zhong will still be waiting on the platform.

Once it is closed out, Stillcloud Station keeps building in the background, and the rail line you topped up to trigger this tale carries on toward the Archveil Hub connection.
