Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave — Heretics’ Cave Chest Location

The lone chest in the prologue’s cave dungeon sits on the main path and hands you a Concoction.

Heretics’ Cave is the first real dungeon run in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, and it hides exactly one chest. It shows up during Prologue: Descent Chapter 2, “The Ruined Land,” while your objective still reads “Find an exit.” The cave is a twisting stone corridor, so it is easy to blow past the pickup on your way out.

Quick answer: Follow the torch-lit main path forward until you reach two NPCs with yellow diamond markers, then examine the glowing chest just past them for a Concoction.

Where the Heretics’ Cave chest is

The chest sits deep along the cave’s single forward route, close to the exit rather than tucked into a side branch. There is no hidden door, no switch, and no detour. The route is linear enough that walking straight ahead will bring you within sight of it, provided you keep following the lit torches instead of doubling back at junctions.

Two things on the HUD do the work for you here:

  • A yellow diamond marker at the top of the screen with a distance readout that ticks down as you close in.
  • A vertical yellow beam of light rising from the chest itself, visible before you reach it.
  • A counter in the upper right reading Left: 1, which is the chest you have not opened yet.
  • Two NPCs standing in the tunnel with yellow diamond icons over their heads, muttering about not lasting much longer.

How to reach the chest

From the Dungeon Menu showing “Prologue: Descent Chapter 2,” “The Ruined Land,” and “Heretics’ Cave,” back out to regain control of your party. You start at the mouth of the cave with the objective “Find an exit.” in the lower left.

Run forward through the winding stone corridors, using the lit torches as your guide. The path bends often, but it does not fork in any meaningful way, so keep moving in the direction the distance marker shrinks.

Keep an eye on the distance readout as you go. It drops steadily from roughly 140 metres down toward double digits, which is the simplest confirmation that you have not taken a wrong turn into a dead end.

Continue until you pass two NPCs standing in the tunnel, each tagged with a yellow diamond icon. They deliver lines about not knowing how long they can last and not wanting to die. That pair is your landmark — the chest is only a few seconds further along.

Walk up to the chest with the yellow beam over it and use the “Examine” prompt. The lid opens and the item is added to your inventory immediately.

What the chest gives you

The reward is a single healing item, not equipment or gold:

  • Concoction — restores 40 HP.
  • Durability 2 / 2, so it can be used twice before it is spent.

Hold the Concoction for the fights after the cave rather than topping off a scratch. It heals twice as much per use as a standard Vulnerary and you only get one from this dungeon.

Confirming you picked it up

Two on-screen changes tell you the pickup registered. An “Obtained the following” window lists the Concoction with its 2 / 2 durability and 40 HP restore text, and you dismiss it with the “Next” prompt. At the same time, the Left: 1 counter in the upper right flips to Complete.

If that counter still reads Left: 1 after you have cleared the tunnel, you walked past the chest and should retrace your steps toward the two NPCs. Once it reads Complete, there is nothing else to collect in Heretics’ Cave, and you can head for the exit and close out the chapter.
