Harmony in Balance is one of the first kill quests a new character picks up in Thendal Village, and it is the one that usually pushes a fresh level 1 character over the line into level 2. The objective is short, the enemies are weak, and the only real variable is how long it takes you to find eight of them.

Quick answer: Kill 8 Juvenile Vuldren in Thendal Grove, then return to Rorian the Dayseeker in Thendal Village and pick either Fur-Lined Shoes or Thendal Warrior’s Boots.
Harmony in Balance quest requirements and rewards
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Objective | Juvenile Vuldren slain (8) |
| Enemy location | Thendal Grove |
| Turn-in NPC | Rorian the Dayseeker, Thendal Village |
| Reward choice | Fur-Lined Shoes or Thendal Warrior’s Boots |
| Also granted | Experience and copper |
| Typical result | Level 1 to Level 2 |
There is no item to gather and no timer attached to the objective. The counter only tracks kills, so nothing you loot from the corpses matters for completion — the Stringy Wolf Meat that drops is grey vendor filler.

Leave Rorian’s building, head down the ramp and cross the village square, then follow the path out of Thendal Village into the wooded ground of Thendal Grove. The Juvenile Vuldren are scattered across the trees and open grass there, usually in loose groups of two or three rather than tight packs.
They are wolf-type mobs with a small aggro radius, so you can pull them one at a time by picking targets at the edge of a cluster. If the grove looks empty, keep moving deeper toward the Thendal Grove Sanctuary area instead of standing still — respawns are quick, but a busy starting zone gets cleared fast.
Open the zone map and use the yellow tracking dots on the minimap to steer toward clusters rather than running the grove in a straight line.
Use a group to share Juvenile Vuldren kill credit
Kill credit for this objective is shared across a party, so every Juvenile Vuldren your group member kills also ticks your counter up. On a crowded server that roughly halves the time the quest takes, and it removes the usual problem of competing with other players for the same handful of spawns.

Right-click another player’s nameplate in the grove and choose Invite to Group. Not everyone accepts, so expect a few declines before someone joins. Once you are grouped, you do not need to fight the same mob or even stay in melee range of each other — you only need to be close enough to remain in the same area.

How to complete and turn in Harmony in Balance

Which reward to pick: Fur-Lined Shoes or Thendal Warrior’s Boots
You get exactly one of the two boots, and the choice is not reversible after you click Complete Quest. Match the armor type to your class rather than the item level.
- Fur-Lined Shoes — the lighter option, suited to classes that start in cloth or leather.
- Thendal Warrior’s Boots — the sturdier option for melee characters.
Either way you get a feet slot upgrade over an empty slot, which is worth taking even if the stats do not line up perfectly with your class.
How to confirm the quest completed
Three things confirm it worked. The objective tracker shows the Objective Complete banner for Harmony in Balance at 8/8, the reward item lands in your bags after you click Complete Quest, and the quest drops out of your quest log entirely. If it is still sitting in the log, the turn-in did not register and you need to speak to Rorian again.

Before you leave the village, pick up Infiltration Investigation from Elatrell Featherlight of the Rangers of Thendal Grove. It is the natural next step in the starting chain, and grabbing it on the same trip saves you a second run back into the village.
