Palworld: How to Catch Legendaries Early in the 1.0 Update

Reach the sky islands at low level, loot Sol and Ancient Spheres, and capture Jetragon or Frostallion far ahead of schedule.

Legendary Pals in Palworld are fixed-spawn Alpha bosses sitting between level 60 and level 70, which normally puts them out of reach until your gear catches up. The shortcut is not stronger weapons. It is better spheres, and the sky islands hand them out in chests long before you can craft them.

Quick answer: Get to the sky islands, loot Sol Spheres and Ancient Spheres from the chests there, then throw them at a Legendary. The catch bonus can climb to 95 percent even at level 70.

What you need before the sky island run

The low-level version of this trip is a looting run, not a fight. You are flying up, opening chests, and leaving. Two things make it possible.

  • Player level 15, which is the point where the flying mount setup becomes realistic.
  • Around Autumn Rocks, beside the Penking boss arena, you can find a captured Nitewing.
  • A Nitewing Saddle from the Pal Gear Workbench.
  • Cold-resistant armor if you are approaching Feybreak Tower, which sits in a freezing region.

Gather 20 Leather, 10 Cloth, 15 Ingot, 20 Fiber, and 20 Paldium Fragments to craft the Nitewing Saddle. These are all early-game materials, with Ingot being the only significant supply bottleneck.

Route 1: Fly to the Enchanted Firmament with a Nitewing

Mount your Nitewing and gain altitude. You are looking for the tall structures that rise well above the normal terrain line.
Open the map while you fly and check the portal markers and fast travel points. Unlocking fast travel on the way up saves you the climb on every future trip.

Land next to the blue glowing altar on top of the structure and choose Interact with Altar. That teleports you to the Enchanted Firmament floating islands.

Grab the rare eggs and high-tier crafting materials while you are up there. They are the same trip and they hatch into Pals you would otherwise be farming for hours.

Route 2: Use the Feybreak Tower altar to reach Sunreach

Travel to Feybreak Tower. The approach runs through intense cold, so bring the warm gear before you set off.

Clear the tower. The altar opens up once Bjorn and Bastigor are dealt with, and interacting with it prompts you to Move to a different altar.
Step into the blue portal at the top of the tower. You arrive on Sunreach, the sky island chain, with the tornado-wrapped tower visible in the distance.

Where to find Sol Spheres and Ancient Spheres

The sky islands are covered in loot containers, and the high-tier spheres come from the glowing ones. Purple and gold chests are the ones worth stopping for. Alongside the spheres they drop gold and technical manuals, and the junk piles scattered across the islands hold spheres too.

Clear as many as you can find in one pass. A Legendary attempt eats through spheres quickly, and you want a full stack before you go near a level 70 boss.

Sol Sphere and Ancient Sphere crafting costs

Looting is the early route. Once you have the technology and the materials, you can make them yourself at a production station.

SphereMaterials
Sol SpherePaldium Fragment x30, Soralite Ingot x2, Hardwood x10
Ancient SpherePaldium Fragment x30, Paloxite Ingot x6, Mythical Wood x3

Both need late-game ingots, which is exactly why the chest run matters. It skips the entire material chain.

Legendary Pal levels and locations in Version 1.0

Every Legendary can now be caught as a Field Alpha Boss. Most sit on the main Palpagos islands, while Jetragon moved to the sky.

Neptilius60139, 651Sealed Realm of the Glacial Core
Panthalus70-174, 34Panthalus main mission

Frostallion at level 60 is the friendlier first target, and it is already in the snowy north where you have cold gear equipped. Jetragon is the expensive one at level 70, but it is also the fastest flying mount in the game, so it is worth the sphere budget.

Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3 is a protected zone and Patrol Drones will hunt you on sight. Frostallion Noct sits inside a dome that shields you, so stay inside it for the whole fight.

How to push the catch rate higher

Sphere quality does the heavy lifting, but the game stacks several separate bonuses on top of it. Combine as many as you can before you throw.

  • Drop the Pal’s HP as deep into the red as you safely can.
  • Aim the sphere at the Pal’s head for a bonus to the displayed rate.
  • Stack status effects using Fire Arrows, Poison Arrows, or a Stun Baton.
  • Offer Lifmunk Effigies at a Statue of Power to raise your Capture Power.
  • Clear nearby wild Pals so nothing interrupts the throw.
  • Hit the boss from a mount so your party Pals cannot knock it out by accident.

The most important practice is recalling your Pal. Since Party Pals attack aggressive targets without orders, call them back when the boss is nearly down, or use the radial menu to choose Don’t attack. For your own weapon, the Ring of Mercy prevents the Pal you want to capture from being killed by your damage.

How to confirm the catch worked

Aiming a sphere displays your live catch rate on screen, and a critical bonus pushes that number upward as the conditions stack. With Sol Spheres against a level 70 Jetragon, that figure climbs as high as 95 percent, which is the point to throw rather than keep chipping away.

A successful capture adds the Pal straight to your party or Palbox, complete with its Legend passive. If the throw fails, the boss stays in the fight and you simply try again with the next sphere. Overworld Legendaries respawn, so a wiped attempt costs you spheres and travel time, not the Pal itself.
