Where the eight Abandoned Belongings sit in the Ruins of Ban’Aethal, and what the turn-in pays out.

Aid For The Refugees is an early collection quest on Zephyres Isle in World of Warcraft: Forever. It sends you out of the refugee camp at Valanaar and north into the Ruins of Ban’Aethal, where eight wooden crates are scattered across broken stone platforms and guarded by drifting Wind Hollow elementals. It is short, but the crates are spread across two tiers of the ruins, and it is easy to miss the last one or two.

Quick answer: Pick up Aid For The Refugees from Estelle Windwalker in Valanaar, travel north to the Ruins of Ban’Aethal, loot 8 Abandoned Belongings from the crates there, then return to her for 875 experience.

Estelle Windwalker stands in the refugee camp at Valanaar with a yellow exclamation mark over her head. Accepting the quest adds the Ruins of Ban’Aethal to your map as a blue highlighted area, so you never have to guess the direction of travel.

The camp’s quest giver has appeared under two names in beta builds, Estelle Windwalker and Estaene Nimbleswallow. The quest text, objective count, and location are the same in both cases.

Where the Abandoned Belongings spawn

The Abandoned Belongings are small wooden crates, not mobs drops, so nothing has to die for the quest to progress. They sit on the stone structures of the ruins rather than on open ground, which is why players often run past them. Expect to find them in these spots:

  • On the low ledges and platform edges you reach first when entering the ruins from the south.
  • Tucked beside the ancient stone pillars on the ground tier.
  • On the upper tier at the top of the grand staircase, near the patrolling Wind Hollows.
  • Along the ruined walkways that run between the upper platforms.

Crates that another player has already opened stay visible but give nothing when you interact with them. If a box does not advance your counter, move on rather than trying it again.

Route through the Ruins of Ban’Aethal

In Valanaar, find Estelle Windwalker and take Aid For The Refugees. Afterward, the objective tracker should show 0/8 Abandoned Belongings.
Open your map and quest log to confirm the blue objective area sitting north of the camp. That highlight is the whole search zone, so anything outside it is not worth checking.

Follow the road out of the camp toward the ruins. The path runs through fog-heavy forest, and you can stay on the paved road for almost the entire trip.

Clear the lower tier first. Work around the stone pillars and platform edges and loot the crates you can reach without climbing, which usually covers the first three or four Abandoned Belongings.

Take the grand stone staircase to the upper tier. Wind Hollows patrol the top of the stairs, so expect to be pulled into combat as soon as you arrive.

Sweep the upper platforms and the connecting walkways for the remaining crates. The eighth pickup triggers an Objective Complete message on screen, which is your cue to stop searching.

Handling the Wind Hollow enemies

Wind Hollows are the hostile elementals that populate the ruins. They are not a quest requirement, so killing them is optional, but they will attack while you are standing still at a crate and interrupt the loot.

Pull and kill the Wind Hollow nearest a crate before opening it. Looting while one is on you is the most common reason a pickup has to be repeated.

Turn in the quest and confirm the reward

Once the counter hits 8/8, head back south along the same road to Valanaar. Estelle Windwalker will have a yellow question mark above her head, which confirms the objective registered before you even talk to her.

Hand the quest in and you should see the chat line “Aid For The Refugees completed” alongside 875 experience, plus reputation with the Nightwind Druids. If you do not see that completion line, the eighth crate was not looted and the quest is still active in your log.

With the crates handed over, the camp at Valanaar continues to hand out work in the surrounding area, and the Nightwind Druids reputation you pick up here carries over into the rest of the refugee chain on Zephyres Isle.
