Your weapon decides how fast the early levels of Slayers 2 go, and the game does not hand you one. Swords and katanas are bought, looted from chests, or dropped by bosses, and the strongest blades are locked behind owning a weaker version first. Here is where each one comes from and what it costs.
Quick answer: Go to Raze’s Sword Shop in Windy Peak and buy the Regular Katana for 500 Wen. The Fancy Katana costs 1,500 Wen. Every other katana comes from chests, bosses, or point shops.
Buy your first katana from Raze in Windy Peak
Windy Peak is the starting area, and the sword vendor sits inside it. You do not need a quest, a level requirement, or any materials — only Wen.
Buy the cheaper blade. Weapon mastery only builds while you are actually swinging something, so saving for the Fancy Katana just delays that progress, and both get replaced quickly.
Zuko, the mini boss available from around level 7, can drop the Cutlas. It carries its own skill set including Quick Draw, which makes it worth farming early alongside the Bandit quests.

The Green Katana is the same class of basic starter blade used for light and heavy melee attacks and combos. The Golden Katana is a straight stat upgrade over it, which is why it also asks for Ore on top of the Wen cost.
Breathing style katanas from chests and boss drops
These cannot be bought. Each one is tuned to a specific Breathing Style and boosts that style’s output, so farm the one matching the trainer questline you completed rather than chasing every blade.

Giyu’s Water Katana is the upgraded Water Katana variant and adds stamina buffs on top of higher damage. The Beast Katanas and Sound Katanas are dual-wield sets rather than single blades, built for Beast Breathing and Sound Breathing movesets respectively. Snow Katana is the outlier here, favouring raw slashing damage and combo extensions instead of a single Breathing Style.
The Mist Katana, Flame Katana, and Beast Katanas are Mythic-rarity drops with very low rates. The Tier 3 and Tier 5 chests are the reliable grind, not the boss fights.
Upgraded katanas at the Ouwigahara Shop (3,000 Points each)
The post-dungeon shop sells a second tier of blades for Points rather than Wen. Every one of them is a direct upgrade of an elemental katana you already own, and the shop will not sell you one without that base weapon sitting in your inventory.

All six carry the same numbers, so the choice is purely about which Breathing Style you trained. Each gives a 5% increase to its matching Breathing damage and adds +3 to Sword damage.
Do not sell or discard the base elemental katana before you reach the shop. The prerequisite is checked at the point of purchase, so a Flame Katana you traded away means no Volcanic Katana until you farm another.
Devourer Katana and Polar Katana requirements
Both endgame katanas cost 150K Wen and 10 Ores, and both demand one of the Ouwigahara shop blades as a prerequisite. They sit in different places and reward different things.
Devourer Katana
Use the Smithing Table to buy this weapon after placing the Volcanic, Thundercloud, or Butterfly Katana in your inventory. It adds +3 Sword damage and +2 block, while its Devourer trait immediately executes foes at 10% health or below. The table can raise it from tier 0 to tier 3.
Polar Katana
Look below the Frozen Lake for this weapon, with the Cloud, Waterfall, or Tornadic Katana required to obtain it. Its unupgraded version provides +3 Sword damage and +2 block; upgrades take place at the waterfall close to Rengoku’s spawn point. Once tier 3 is reached, each Polar weapon has a 5% per-hit chance to freeze its target and stun it for two seconds.
Champion Katana and unconfirmed blades
The Champion Katana is the strongest weapon in the game and it is not farmable. It comes from the Champion Series in Ouwigahara Season 1, and it stacks a roughly 7% increase to all Breathing Style damage with +10 Sword damage, +10% NPC damage, and +5% Crit Chance.
Two other katanas exist in the item pool without confirmed acquisition methods. The Love Katana and Tanjiro’s Katana appear in the game’s weapon list, but no source has been documented for either yet.
Confirming the katana is yours and equipped
After a purchase or a drop, the weapon appears in your inventory and the Wen, Points, or Ores are deducted immediately. Equip it from there and the blade renders on your character model, which is the clearest confirmation the transaction went through.
From that point, weapon mastery accrues only while you are fighting with the equipped katana, and its skills show up under the Weapon skills tab of the Skill Tree, opened with the M key. If a blade’s abilities are not listed on the first screen, check the other tabs before assuming something failed — Breathing, Blood Demon Art, Weapon, Fighting Style, and Clan skills are all separated.
