Fortnite DOGBOT Sidekick: Price, Permanent Customization, and Styles

DOGBOT is a robotic dog Sidekick that trots along beside your character in Fortnite, listed in the Item Shop as D0GB0T under the Uncommon rarity tier. It belongs to the GOOD BOT set, carries the description “404 – Woof not found,” and comes with a one-time appearance builder that most cosmetics do not have. That builder is the part worth slowing down for, because the choices you make there cannot be undone.

Quick answer: DOGBOT costs 1,200 V-Bucks. Its Base, Straps, and Eye Color are locked in permanently when you confirm, so the only way to get a different combination is to buy the Sidekick again.

DOGBOT price and where it appears in the Item Shop

DOGBOT appears on the Item Shop’s Front Page for 1,200 V-Bucks, less than certain rotating Sidekicks like Aisha, which costs 1,500 V-Bucks. Choosing DOGBOT brings up the usual preview card along with an added warning in the “CUSTOMIZE ONCE” panel: you select the Sidekick’s Appearance after buying it, and that selection cannot be changed.

The card also details Sidekick behavior: they respond to activity in the surrounding world, but they do not notice enemies or items. During Battle Royale, your view includes only Sidekicks owned by your team. Other Fortnite experiences can display them differently.

Every DOGBOT customization option

The builder has three categories, each with four choices. You can rotate through all of them and preview the model before committing, and each column is independent, so any base can be paired with any strap and eye color.

The fourth eye color is displayed in the menu as “Ligh green,” a typo in the game’s own text rather than a separate style. It behaves like any other option.

Decide which outfit you plan to pair DOGBOT with before you open the builder. The darker bases and colored eyes read very differently next to a bright skin than they do next to a tactical one, and you get exactly one attempt per purchase.

How to buy and lock in DOGBOT’s appearance

Open the Item Shop and select DOGBOT from the Front Page. Read the “CUSTOMIZE ONCE” panel on the item card, then confirm the purchase for 1,200 V-Bucks.

The customization menu opens automatically after the purchase. Cycle through the four BASE options and pick the body you want, since this is the choice that changes the model most.

Move to the STRAPS category and choose one of the four harness colors, then switch to EYE COLOR and set the glow on the visor lens.

Confirm on the “LOCK-IN APPEARANCE?” prompt. The warning here is literal, and the screen states that you won’t be able to change your Sidekick’s appearance later.

Move to the NAMING screen and either keep the default name or type your own. This is the one field that is not permanent, and the game notes that you can change your Sidekick’s name anytime in the Locker.

Finish the flow. You will see an “ITEM ACQUIRED” card reading SIDEKICK DOGBOT, followed by the message “DOGBOT IS READY TO GO WITH YOU!” That confirmation is how you know the Sidekick has been claimed and added to your Locker loadout.

DOGBOT Locker styles, reaction, and built-in emote

DOGBOT also has Locker settings that you can change whenever you want. Its edit styles are the visor options VISOR ( OFF ) and VISOR ( ON ); the latter places a cover over the eye lens. DOGBOT’s default reaction is unique, and its built-in emote is Dogbot’s Sit ‘N Scan, which the item card labels “Unlockable Styles, Built-in.”

Quest rewards across four tiers

The Quests menu lists four reward tiers tied to the Sidekick. Working through them unlocks the extras rather than handing them over at purchase.

How DOGBOT behaves during a match

Once equipped, DOGBOT follows you from the lobby into the match and animates on its own. Its reactions are ambient and cosmetic, and none of them give you information about the map.

Petting: Walk up to it for the E PET DOGBOT prompt, which plays a robotic sound effect.
Movement: It has separate walking, running, and sliding animations as it keeps pace with you.
Idle: Stand still long enough and it settles into a sitting animation.
Chests: Opening a chest triggers a randomized reaction, such as spinning in place or digging.
Taking fire: Shooting at it switches the face to an angry expression and plays a growling sound.
Emotes: When you emote, DOGBOT bobs its head and switches off its eye light.

Because Sidekicks are visible only to your own team in Battle Royale, DOGBOT will not reveal your position to enemies, and it will not react to enemies or loot that it walks past.

DOGBOT is a straightforward cosmetic companion whose real decision point is the builder screen, not the price tag. Pick the base, straps, and eye color you want to live with, since everything after that is either swappable in the Locker or earned through the quest tiers.
