Magmarex is a bulky Fire/Earth Aniimo in the Break role, and the main reason players keep one on the roster is its traversal skill. Its mobility ability, Fast and Furious, clears the superheated boulders that block underground routes, so owning one opens up parts of Idyll that stay sealed otherwise. There are two ways to add it to your team: catch a wild one below the surface, or evolve a Lavazar all the way up.
Quick answer: Drop into Blazing Rock Cavern in Zephyrus Landbridge and capture the Magmarex resting in the geyser pool, or evolve a Lv. 48 Lavazar in a hot spring pool after defeating Alpha Magmarex.
Magmarex location in Zephyrus Landbridge
Wild Magmarex appear only in Zephyrus Landbridge, a Breezy Plains area where surface enemies range from Lv. 47–57. Search beneath the surface: Blazing Rock Cavern is a magma-filled cave at coordinates 0594, 1505. There are two encounters inside.
- At the cave’s front, a geyser basin near coordinates 0555, 1502 contains a regular Magmarex at about Lv. 49.
- An Alpha Magmarex guards a larger chamber further back, near the Pathfinder Camp at 0653, 1532.
If your level is too low, the game marks the foe as far above your level before combat begins. Take a party able to withstand enemies at this level.
Route into Blazing Rock Cavern
Take a flying Aniimo along. Several passages are obstructed by huge, superheated boulders, and gliding over them saves time compared with finding another route.
Getting back out takes a different route. A flying Aniimo can ascend directly through the wind shafts; the geyser shaft instead pushes you downward, so climb its walls to escape.
Catching a wild Magmarex
A wild Magmarex starts with a 16% catch chance, making it better to weaken the target before attempting capture. Two bonuses can be combined with the usual weaken-first method, and it’s worth preparing both.
- A Break boosts the capture chance by ×1.5.
- A backstab applies a further ×1.5 multiplier.
- Nighttime sleep makes it much easier to approach.
- The nature is an equal-chance roll between Cheerful and Sensitive.
Because the base rate is low, bring an Aniipod Mega or better to the geyser pool. A Sparkling Cube or an Aniipod Ultra locks the catch in at a guaranteed rate once the Aniimo is worn down.
Alpha Magmarex fight and rewards
At Lv. 57, Alpha Magmarex occupies an underground arena past Hot Spring Reef Bloom. Enter through the geyser hole, then ride a flying mount over the rocks in the way to reach the chamber. Aim for player level 45 or above and partner Aniimo near Lv. 50 at minimum; the game’s suggested level is Lv. 53.
The battle is governed by a single meter: Alpha Magmarex accumulates Fire Debuff on itself as the fight goes on. Once it reaches 20 stacks, it becomes Overheated, increasing its damage and lowering its Water resistance. The damage boost is more dangerous than the resistance drop is useful, so prevent the state if possible. Use a Water Aniimo or hit it with Water skills to slow the stacks or remove some. Avoid the red ground warnings, then land burst and ultimate skills to cause Break.
Once its health is gone, the Catch Alpha prompt appears. An Aniipod Ultra secures a 100% capture, as does a Sparkling Cube. First-clear rewards are separate from the drops you earn on repeat runs.

Evolving Lavazar into Magmarex
The progression begins much earlier with Pebbling, the line’s Lumin form. Level requirements govern every evolution stage except the last, which also requires specific conditions.

Defeating Alpha Magmarex unlocks the final evolution. Put a Lv. 48 Lavazar in a hot spring pool and leave it soaking; spend three Blaze Stone to start the transformation. It must be in the water, since evolution cannot happen on dry ground.
Magmarex stats and skills
Magmarex is a Nova stage Break tank. It is strong against Ice and Grass, resists Fire, Ice, and Grass, and is weak to Water and Earth. Its base stat total is 539.

Its whole kit revolves around stacking Fire Debuff and cashing it in. The trait, Pyro Charge, activates after it has spent a total of 50 EP, then applies one stack of Fire Debuff to nearby targets every two seconds for ten seconds.
- Magma Surge — Sends molten spikes in a forward cone, stunning targets with over 5 Fire Debuff stacks.
- Lava Punch — Dashes forward with a piercing punch and removes every Fire Debuff stack; each stack adds damage equal to 5% Might.
- Lava Breath — Maintains a stream of flame that deals ongoing damage and inflicts Fire Debuff.
- Dark Energy Surge — Fires Dark molten spikes in a cone, stunning targets for 2.5 seconds.
- Burning Sun — Its ultimate launches a molten boulder for damage over a broad area, with damage increased by 2% for each Fire Debuff stack on the target.
When not fighting, Fast and Furious trades stamina for increased movement speed and can shove aside certain obstacles, removing debris that other Aniimo cannot clear.
Confirming Magmarex is registered
After you catch or evolve it, the Magmarex record appears in your Aniilog as No. 072. Open the record and select Basic Form. The description reads, “Scorching crystals grow on their body like solidified lava. If the stored heat erupts, it can melt everything in their path,” and Zephyrus Landbridge appears under Habitats. Evolving a Lavazar keeps its own entry in the log and adds Magmarex beside it, while the party member gains the Nova stage tag and Break role. A Prismana Magmarex receives a separate entry rather than replacing the basic form.
