Genshin Impact: How to Build Vodyanitsa for Skirk Freeze Teams

Her HP threshold, artifact set, constellation breakpoints, and the rotation that runs alongside Skirk, Furina, and Escoffier.

Vodyanitsa is a 5-star Hydro Catalyst support whose entire value sits in her Elemental Skill. She heals, holds down interruption resistance, shreds Hydro and Cryo resistance, and feeds damage stacks to whoever is on the field — all scaling off her Max HP rather than ATK or Elemental Mastery. In a Freeze core built around Skirk, that combination replaces the fourth-slot options players have been using for years. She arrives in Phase 1 of Version 7.1 on September 23, 2026.

Quick answer: Build Vodyanitsa with HP%/HP%/HP% main stats and 4-piece Tenacity of the Millelith, target 65,000 Max HP, and keep her Elemental Skill running for the 26% Hydro and Cryo RES shred.

What Vodyanitsa’s Elemental Skill does in a Freeze team

Casting her Skill turns Vodyanitsa into a mermaid, deals Hydro damage, and starts a 16-second state where microphones appear every three seconds to attack alongside your active character. Each of those microphone hits does four jobs at once, which is why she only needs a couple of seconds of field time per rotation.

  • Hydro damage that scales off her Max HP.
  • 26% Hydro and Cryo RES reduction on hit enemies for 6 seconds.
  • Healing on the active character roughly every 1.5 seconds.
  • Added interruption resistance for whoever is on the field.

Her Burst is a single AoE Hydro hit at 82.2% of Max HP at talent level 10, with an 86.4% bonus if it is cast while the Skill state is active. It costs 60 Energy and has a 15-second cooldown, which lines up neatly with the 16-second Skill duration. It is a damage add-on, not the reason she is in the team, so skipping it costs you very little.

Her ascension passive is the other half of the package. Entering the Skill state hands the active character 17 stacks of Solo and gives off-field teammates 10 stacks of Ensemble. Those stacks are spent when the relevant character deals Hydro or Cryo damage, which in a Freeze team means Skirk’s normal attacks and Escoffier’s off-field Cryo both get paid.

If a Stellar Vortex is on the field, those stacks convert into Stellar variants that only boost Stellar Swirl reaction damage. In a Freeze team there is no Vortex, so the stacks stay in their Hydro/Cryo mode where you want them.

The 65,000 Max HP threshold

Each stack adds flat damage based on how far her Max HP sits above 40,000, counted per 1,000 HP. That is the single number that decides how much she is worth, and it is why her stat sheet reads like a healer’s instead of a buffer’s.

Max HPResult
40,000Baseline; no bonus flat damage yet
60,000Practical starting point for a finished build
65,000Caps the stack bonus (3,500 on Hydro/Cryo hits)

Past roughly 65,000 HP the passive stops paying out, so extra HP only feeds her healing and her own small Hydro damage. There is no reason to chase CRIT stats on her at all.

Best weapons, artifacts, and stat priority

Every viable option is an HP catalyst. Pick the one that gets her closest to the HP target while handing something useful to the rest of the team.

WeaponSecondary statWhat it adds
Hymn of the Maelstrom66.2% HPHealing Bonus, Max HP stacks, team ATK
Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers (R5)35.2% HP48% ATK to the character you swap to
Jadefall’s Splendor49.6% HPEnergy plus Elemental DMG from Max HP
Everlasting Moonglow49.6% HPHealing Bonus and Energy on Normal Attacks
Prototype Amber41.3% HPParty healing and Energy after Burst
Ash-Graven Drinking Horn41.3% HPAoE damage from Max HP every 15s

Her signature catalyst is the cleanest fit because its passive keys off healing and gets stronger the moment a nearby teammate triggers Frozen. Thrilling Tales at R5 is the free alternative and stays genuinely strong in a Skirk team, since Skirk is the one taking the field right after Vodyanitsa leaves it.

Artifact sets

4-piece Tenacity of the Millelith is the default. The 2-piece gives 20% HP toward the threshold, and the 4-piece keeps a 20% team-wide ATK buff refreshed every time her off-field Hydro hits an enemy — which, with microphones landing every three seconds, is effectively permanent uptime.

Song of Days Past is the alternative if someone else on the team already holds Tenacity. It converts her healing into flat damage bonuses on the next few hits, capped at 15,000 recorded healing per instance. Instructor works as a stopgap, but being a 4-star set it makes the HP target much harder to reach.

Stats and talents

  • Sands, Goblet, Circlet: HP%.
  • Substats: HP% first, then flat HP, then Energy Recharge.
  • Energy Recharge is optional and only matters if you want the Burst every rotation.
  • Talent priority: Elemental Skill, then Elemental Burst, then Normal Attack.

For reference, a fully kitted version of this build runs Hymn of the Maelstrom at R5 with four-piece Tenacity of the Millelith and lands at 69,659 Max HP — comfortably past the cap, with the overflow going into healing.

Constellations that matter for Freeze

Const.EffectValue
C1Healing grants team ATK from 0.7% of her Max HP (3s)Solid for hypercarries
C250% Hydro/Cryo CRIT DMG to the active character; Skill lasts 9s longerThe big breakpoint
C4Stacking 20% Max HP, up to three timesPushes HP to the cap
C6C2 boosts the whole team’s Hydro and Cryo DMG by 50% for the Skill’s duration.Turns her into the team’s main buffer

Investment order runs C2 first, then C6, with C1 last. C2 is the one that changes how she plays, since the extra nine seconds of Skill duration gives her effectively permanent uptime and the CRIT DMG lands on whoever is holding the field. C6 extends that same CRIT DMG to the whole party and stacks a flat 50% Hydro and Cryo damage bonus on top, which is what separates a good fourth slot from a team-defining one.

The Skirk Freeze lineup and rotation

The premium version of the team is Skirk, Escoffier, Furina, and Vodyanitsa. Skirk is the on-field Cryo carry, Escoffier supplies off-field Cryo and her own RES shred, Furina handles the damage bonus and HP drain, and Vodyanitsa covers healing, Hydro application, and the Hydro/Cryo shred that Freeze teams have always wanted from a fourth slot. She slots in over Citlali, Shenhe, or Yelan here.

Escoffier (C1)Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City
Furina (C6)Favonius Sword R5Golden Troupe
Vodyanitsa (C6)Hymn of the Maelstrom R5Tenacity of the Millelith ×4

Furina at Constellation 6 on Favonius Sword and Golden Troupe covers both the team buff and Energy generation, running talents at 9/10/9. Skirk with Azurelight and the full Finale of the Deep Galleries set reaches 78.4% CRIT Rate and 230.6% CRIT DMG at C1, which is well within reach without vertical investment.

Open with Vodyanitsa’s Elemental Skill to start the microphone state. This is what plants the RES shred, the healing tick, and the Solo and Ensemble stacks before anyone else acts.
Swap to Furina and use her Burst. Her buff wants to be up before the Cryo damage starts landing, so she goes early rather than late.
Cast Escoffier’s Elemental Skill for the off-field Cryo application. Between her and Vodyanitsa’s Hydro, Freeze stays locked in for the rest of the window.
Bring in Skirk, use her Burst, and spend the rest of the window on normal attacks. Her Cryo hits are what consume the Solo stacks, so this is where the buffs actually convert into damage.

Vodyanitsa’s Burst is cheap and short-cooldown enough to weave in after her Skill if you have the Energy, but it is the first thing to drop when the rotation gets tight.

Clear times this team produces

Against Secret Source Automaton: Overseer Device at level 105 in Stygian Onslaught, the lineup finishes in 36 seconds. That is the clearest signal the build is working as intended — if you are running the same constellations and weapons and your rotation is taking dramatically longer, the usual culprit is Vodyanitsa’s Skill uptime lapsing between cycles.

Spiral Abyss Floor 12 first halves fall over just as quickly. Chamber 1 against the Battle-Hardened Chimeric Burrowbeast, Chamber 2 against the Immortal Construct, and Chamber 3 against the Battle-Hardened Domovoy Sculptor all go down inside a single rotation of the sequence above.

How the Stellar Swirl build differs

Her other home is a Stellar Swirl team led by Vesna, and the good news for anyone farming now is that the build does not change. Same HP% main stats, same Tenacity of the Millelith, same HP target — the only thing that shifts is which version of her stacks is active, because a Stellar Vortex on the field converts them to reaction damage capped at 6,500 instead of 3,500.

At Constellation 6, Vesna equips Beyond the Chrysalis at R5 and a four-piece Scarlet Proof set; her 52.2% CRIT Rate pairs with 205.2% CRIT DMG and 152.5% Energy Recharge. While her Skill is active, Vodyanitsa’s ascension passive additionally turns team Stellar Swirls into Vortices, and generating or detonating them reduces Anemo RES by 30% for six seconds.

The rotation shape is familiar. Supports go first, then Vesna takes the field to trigger Swirl and chain her Anemo damage, closing with her Burst. Rounded out with Odette and Qiqi, that team puts a Battle-Hardened Domovoy Sculptor down in 40 seconds.

The same four characters clear the Secret Source Automaton: Overseer Device in 37 seconds with a Burst sequence totalling over 1.12 million damage, and the Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow in 36 seconds. Numbers close enough to the Freeze team’s that the choice comes down to which carry you own rather than which archetype is stronger.

One thing worth keeping in mind before you commit her to a roster: because she applies Hydro constantly, she is a poor fit for Vaporize teams and will interfere with Pyro carries. Freeze, mono-Hydro, and Stellar Swirl are where the Hydro application is an asset instead of a liability, and the build you farm works identically across all three.
