Katanas are the signature melee weapon in Slayers 2, and you can own one within your first play session. There are three ways to add a katana to your inventory: buying it from a shop, earning it as a boss drop, or crafting it at the Hidden Mist Village forge.
Quick answer: Buy the Regular Katana from Raze’s Sword Shop at Windy Peak for 500 Wen. Stronger katanas drop from bosses or are crafted at Hidden Mist Village, topped by the Nightfall Katana.
Buy the Regular Katana from Raze at Windy Peak
At the spawn point in Windy Peak, visit Raze’s Sword Shop to obtain your first blade. Its minimap icon makes the store easy to spot. Two starter Nichirin katanas are available there: the Regular Katana costs 500 Wen, while the Fancy Katana costs 1,500 Wen.
Skip the Fancy Katana. The higher price only adds +1 Additional Damage over the free-to-earn Regular, which is not worth the extra 1,000 Wen.
Katanas dropped by bosses
Several katanas only come from defeating specific bosses scattered across the map. Most sit at a 5% drop rate, so expect multiple clears before one lands. The Wind, Sound, and Flame katanas are the strongest boss drops and the practical targets before you reach crafting.

Keep inventory space open before you farm, and learn each boss’s telegraphs first. Dying repeatedly costs more time than a few clean clears while you wait on the low drop chance.
Katanas crafted at Hidden Mist Village
The strongest late-game katanas are crafted at the Hidden Mist Village forge using Wen and materials. The game guides you toward this system naturally as you progress, so you do not need to rush it. The following katanas are all made here:
- Enryu, Shinkage, and Tengoku Katanas (early crafted blades)
- Serpentine, Volcanic, Tornadic, Thundercloud, and Tidal Katanas
- Reverb Cleavers and Butterfly Katana
- Firstlight, Firstlight Insect, and Firstlight Sound Cleavers Katanas
- Nightfall and Nightfall Serpent Katanas (endgame)
The Ocean Wave Katana also exists with +1 Additional Damage, but its exact acquisition is not yet confirmed.
Best katana: the Nightfall Katana and its schematic
The Nightfall Katana is the best katana in the game. It carries +5.75 Additional Damage, a 1.14x damage factor, +6.2 Block Points, and strong block regen, giving it both top raw damage and top defensive stats. Because it is an endgame craft, getting it takes time, so the Wind, Sound, or Flame katanas serve as strong stopgaps.
Before you can craft it, you need to collect its schematic, which is hidden underwater near Mistfall Harbor.

The Nightfall Serpent Katana is a second endgame katana, and its schematic depends on a key rather than a fixed pickup.
Craft V2 katanas at Blacksmith Togane
Blacksmith Togane in Hidden Mist Village handles the V2 katana upgrades. Speak with Togane to activate the quest, travel to Ouwigahara Dungeon in the map’s southwestern corner, and accumulate 90,000 points. Once you reach that total, return to the blacksmith and craft the upgraded katanas.
Each V2 katana requires its base form in your inventory. For example, the Serpentine Katana needs the Serpent Katana, while the Volcanic and Tornadic katanas need the Flame and Wind katanas.
Hold onto any Mythic Refinement Ores instead of selling them, since these upgrades consume them during crafting.
Expand the Nightfall set beyond katanas
The same schematic hunt that gives you the Nightfall katanas also unlocks other Nightfall weapons if you want a full loadout. Two of the more involved ones are the Gauntlet and the Sickle.
The Nightfall Gauntlet starts by speaking to Stonemason Tobei at Hidden Mist Village, then activating three statues. Land a 100-hit combo on the Windy Peak cave statue near the Akaza spawn using Breathing or Blood Demon Art skills, 100 hits with a weapon on the statue in the Rengoku dungeon area, and 100 hits with your fists on the final statue after climbing through Hidden Mist Village. Return to Tobei to receive the schematic.
The Nightfall Sickle is the longest unlock. You must activate all 10 hidden levers scattered across the map, which opens a sealed door below the Mistfall Harbor bridge where the schematic waits. Because there are so many levers, work through them in a fixed order so you do not lose track.
Whichever route you take, you know it worked the moment the weapon or its schematic lands in your inventory. Craft the finished blade at the forge, equip it, and the higher stats apply straight away, letting you keep building sword mastery on your best katana.
