Inferlupa is the three-headed wolf sitting at No. 4 in the Aniilog, and it is one of the few creatures in the Breezy Plains lineup you cannot throw an Anipod at. It only exists as an evolution of Flameruff, and that evolution branch stays hidden until you finish a questline that advances once per server reset. Start it late and you are simply waiting longer.

Quick answer: Finish the Journey: Warrior questline in Beast Fang Ridge, then evolve a level 20 Flameruff using one Night Stone and six Unbroken Flameruff Spirits.

Flameruff has two evolution paths. Scorchhowl is the default one, unlocked by beating an Alpha Scorchhowl with a Blaze Stone in hand. Inferlupa is the alternative, and its entry stays greyed out on the evolution screen until Journey: Warrior is marked complete.

There is a second side quest also called Journey: Warrior over in the Russet Highlands. That one does nothing for Inferlupa. The one you want is part of the Legend of Thousand-Fang Ridge storyline in Beast Fang Ridge.

Before you start: party setup and the night switch

Two things gate the opening dialogue. You need a member of the Emberpup family in your party, and you need the world set to night. Neither is optional, and neither is signposted clearly in the quest text.

Catch an Emberpup, Flameruff, or Scorchhowl. Emberpup spawns in Beast Fang Ridge, and a basic form caught with an Anipod is enough to satisfy the requirement. This same creature is the one you will eventually evolve, so grab one with a trait you are happy to keep.

Open the main menu and find the day and night setting, then switch the world over to night. The toggle only becomes available once you have pushed far enough into the main story, so clear that first if the option is missing.
Travel to Beast Fang Ridge, northeast of the starting area, and explore until you pick up the Clue: the Inferlupa’s Flying Head. Tracking that clue is what formally opens the questline. The relevant clearing sits at coordinates (-1186, 1271).

Journey: Warrior walkthrough across three server resets

Each day of the quest is short, maybe ten minutes of walking and talking. The wait between them is the real cost. When a day’s steps run out, the next one only appears after the server resets, and if no notification shows up, check your quest Log for the newly available objective.

Day 1: The flying head

Track the clue to the campfire clearing. A pack of Emberpups is sitting around it, and once night falls a Flameruff joins them. Twine with your Emberpup family creature to join the conversation, where they trade stories about a floating wolf head out in the woods.

Follow the objective marker northeast until the trees around you look dead. Inferlupa is waiting there in a weakened, restrained state. Talk to it and accept the fight. Ignore the level readout, because this version goes down quickly.
After the fight, exhaust its dialogue, then talk to the scared Emberpup nearby and track down the fragrant Emberpup hiding behind a rock. That chain triggers a call from Dr. Lewis and hands you the Fists I quest, which is optional and does not move Journey: Warrior along.
Head back to the campfire and exhaust the pack’s dialogue again. A small column of purple smoke appears close by. Collect it for Spirit Dust: Inferlupa, then follow the marker to the eavesdropper, which turns out to be the same Inferlupa you just fought.

Day one is the moment to start farming evolution materials. You have at least two days of forced downtime, and the Unbroken Flameruff Spirits take the longest to collect.

Day 2: The Undefeated Warrior

After the reset, return to the campfire pack at night and talk to them again. This time they tell the story of the Undefeated Warrior.
Exhaust the dialogue and collect the second pickup nearby, Spirit Dust: Restrained Inferlupa. Then follow the eavesdropper marker again and clear out Old Inferlupa’s dialogue. That is everything available until the next reset.

Day 3: The Level 43 rematch

Go back to the campfire for the final story, exhaust the dialogue, and pick up Spirit Dust: Old Inferlupa from the marker nearby. That is the third and last Spirit Dust.
Return to Inferlupa for the real fight. It arrives at Level 43 this time and is nothing like the pushover from day one. It is a Fire and Dark type, so Water and Wind attackers make the fight noticeably shorter.
Win the fight, sit through the cutscene, then talk to Inferlupa one more time to close the quest. The dead trees across the ridge come back to life, which is your visual confirmation that the questline is finished.

Completing the questline pays out alongside the evolution branch:

  • Sparkling Crystal x30
  • Blaze Stone x3
  • Glimmer x30
  • Credits x30,000
  • Safaris x1,000

Where to farm the Night Stone and Unbroken Flameruff Spirits

Unbroken Flameruff Spirit x6

These drop from a named enemy group, Flameruff, the Mighty, which spawns in the same clearing where you fight Inferlupa in Beast Fang Ridge. Clear the whole camp, then fast travel away and back, or flip the in-game time, to force a respawn. The drop rate is low enough that six will take several full clears, which is exactly why you start on day one rather than day three.

Night Stone x1

Night Stones come from Dark type Alpha creatures. The most reliable one this early is the Lv. 25 Alpha Stellarys in the Forest of Falling Stars, at coordinates (-1620, 0979). You only need a single stone, so one successful kill settles this material for good.

Evolving Flameruff into Inferlupa

If you are still holding an Emberpup, evolve it first. Emberpup becomes Flameruff at level 12 once you have cleared Sanctum: First Spark. From there, Flameruff needs to reach level 20 before either of its evolution options will trigger.

Open the Aniimo menu, select your Flameruff, and go to the evolution screen. With Journey: Warrior complete, the Inferlupa branch now appears next to the Scorchhowl branch.
Check the four conditions listed on that screen. It asks for the completed Journey: Warrior, Aniimo level 20, one Night Stone, and six Unbroken Flameruff Spirits. Anything unmet stays marked on the panel.

Confirm the evolution. You know it worked when the creature comes back as a Nova stage Inferlupa carrying both Fire and Dark elements, with the BREAK role and the Aniilog entry filled in at No. 4.

Unbroken Flameruff Spirit is the reason to bring Inferlupa at all. It costs 20 EP, fires a spirit that ricochets between targets, and stacks a 10 percent increase to BREAK efficiency on everything it touches, up to three stacks for 20 seconds. It bounces five times normally and seven while Inferlupa is in the Full Energy state, which builds from basic attacks.

The three real-life days are fixed and there is no way to buy past them, so the only variable you control is when you start. Pick up the clue in Beast Fang Ridge tonight, chip away at the Flameruff camp between resets, and the evolution button will be ready the moment the questline closes.
