Shelly is the Lumin stage, Water element DPS that sits at No. 53 in the Aniilog, and it is the entry point to a three-stage family that ends in Sherro. Catching one is simple. Getting the rest of the family is not, because the final evolution is gated behind a side quest that needs a Shelly in the first place.

Quick answer: Catch a wild Shelly along the shoreline at Echoback Landing or Crescent Bay using an Anipod. It registers as No. 053 Basic Form and evolves into Sheldon at Lv. 29.

Shelly location in Breezy Plains

Shelly is a beach spawn. It sits in the sand near the water line, usually in loose groups mixed in with Chirpi, and it has been recorded in two places.

  • Echoback Landing, in the Breezy Plains region — the most reliable spot, and the same area the Sherro side quest runs through.
  • Crescent Bay — a second recorded habitat for the same basic form.

Open the world map and set your marker on Echoback Landing, then follow the shoreline. Wild Shellys here can sit around Level 40, so do not expect an early-game creature even though it is a stage one Aniimo.

How to catch Shelly with an Anipod

Run the pink-tinted beach at Echoback Landing until you spot a Shelly parked at the water’s edge, fussing over its shell arrangement. They do not scatter aggressively, so you can walk straight up to one.

Lock onto the Shelly so its level appears above it, then throw an Anipod. A healthy, undamaged Shelly can still return a Guaranteed Success prompt, so you do not necessarily need to fight it down first.

Check the capture registered. The catch banner reads No.053 Basic Form Shelly, and the creature then appears in your Aniimo menu with a Star Up screen of its own. If the Aniilog still shows the entry as unrecorded, the throw did not land.

Shelly stats, trait, and skills

Shelly is built around water terrain rather than raw numbers. Its base total is 382, and it has no mobility skill and no alternate forms.

Its trait, Tidal Heart, raises Water damage by 20% for 10 seconds while Shelly is standing in water terrain or has just absorbed water. Its Homeland abilities are Leisure Lv. 1 and Water Lv. 1.

The two combat skills feed each other. Rolling Torrent drains stamina as Shelly rolls forward and rams targets, restores stamina over time at a rate capped to once every 3 seconds, and leaves a puddle where the roll stops. Torrent Slam then throws a shell at the target, and any puddle caught in the hit area adds damage equal to 30% of the original Might while raising damage dealt by 15% for 20 seconds.

Shelly evolution: Sheldon and Sherro requirements

The family runs Shelly (Lumin) into Sheldon (Gamma) into Sherro (Nova). The first step is a plain level check. The second is not.

The Sherro unlock cannot be earned through normal field play. It is tied to beating the quest version of Sherro during the Stars and the Knight side quest at Echoback Landing. Killing a wild Sherro with the same species name does not set the flag.

Unlocking Sherro through Stars and the Knight

Before starting, bring Aniimo around Level 35 to 40 that are not weak to Water. A solid Lightning Aniimo helps. You also need two different Twining partners on hand, because the quest asks for a Susuta family creature at the start and a Shelly family creature later.

Head south of Beachside Sandbars in Echoback Landing. Twine with a Susuta and dig up the shining spots in the sand until you uncover the Shelly buried there.
Speak to it. The Journey log picks up Stars and the Knight with the target set to talk to the Sparkly Shelly, and the missing shell conversations push the objective toward Sherro.
When the game asks for it, swap your Twining form to a Shelly family Aniimo before approaching Sherro. Having one sitting in storage does not count. You must be twined with it for the dialogue to open.
Follow Sherro’s patrol and finish every marked conversation, including waking the sleeping Shelly and clearing the hostile group the patrol points you at. Skipping a stop leaves the Journey stalled.
Restore your real combat team before the final conversation, since it leads straight into the duel. Bring a damage dealer, a breaker, and sustain, and keep a dodge free for Sherro’s large sword swings.
Sit through the closing dialogue after the fight ends. The emptied health bar is not the completion check, and walking away early can leave the quest open.

When the objective directs you to Sherro’s beach at night, make sure it is nighttime before you begin the search. Simply reaching the correct region does not trigger every stage.

Confirm it worked by opening the Log and checking that Stars and the Knight reads as completed. Once it does, a Lv. 39 Sheldon with three Wave Stones can evolve into Sherro. If the fight is won but the evolution is still locked, the closing dialogue is the usual thing left unfinished. Worth keeping in mind that a separate perfume task in the same area also involves a Sherro-related item, and finishing that one does nothing for this unlock.
