Flowers and Thorns – Sea of Flowers is the opening quest of The Legend of Flowers and Thorns, a four-part Journey chapter in Aniimo. It is short, it has only three objectives, and almost all of the work is four back-to-back duels in a flower field. The catch is that it will not start at all unless you have the right clue and the right time of day.

Quick answer: Track the clue “A Weepy Budsquire Tea Party?”, Twine with the storyteller Budsquire inside Wildflower Cottage during the day, defeat the four Lethal Thorns outside, then go back in and hear the rest of the story.

What you need before the quest will start

  • The clue A Weepy Budsquire Tea Party? in your Log. Nothing unlocks without it.
  • Daytime. The tea party is only running while it is light out.
  • Access to the Sea of Flowers in Breezy Plains, which the in-game map rates at levels 20 to 29.
  • A team that can push through four consecutive fights without a shop trip.

The fastest approach is to warp in at the Transporter in Sea of Flowers and follow the pin from there. The quest has three objectives, two of which are placed on the map, so you are never hunting blind.

How to reach Wildflower Cottage and join the tea party

In the Log, choose the Sea of Flowers clue from Flowers and Thorns, then press Go. The tracker activates and a marker appears on the map.
Open the map and confirm you are heading to the Sea of Flowers area of Breezy Plains. The objective sits away from Bloomville, out among the flower fields.

Walk into Wildflower Cottage, the small abandoned house sitting in the middle of the flowers. Inside you will find three Budsquires: the Storyteller Budsquire, the Listening Budsquire, and the Crying Budsquire.
Choose Twine with Budsquire and listen. The storyteller opens the tale of the Thornblade siblings, then breaks off and sends you outside to deal with the four Lethal Thorns stationed around the cottage.

Defeat the four Lethal Thorns outside the cottage

The four are Carola, Carolina, Carlos, and Callies, and they are spread around the outside of the building rather than grouped together. Each one is a separate conversation with a challenge option, so you fight them one at a time and can take them in whatever order you find them. Every one of them has a line about thorns and protection — Callies, for example, explains that the loser of a Thornblade challenge has to break one of their own thorns.

Talk to Callies, pick the challenge option, and fight. Elemental skills from your Aniimo end these duels quickly, since each Lethal Thorn is a single opponent with no adds.

Move along the cottage wall to Carlos and repeat the challenge. He is the closest of the four to the building itself.
Finish with Carolina and Carola, who are positioned further out in the flowers. The objective ticks over only after all four have been beaten.

There is no timer between duels, so heal or swap party members between fights rather than chaining all four on a worn-down team.

Finish the story and confirm the quest completed

Return indoors and speak with Storyteller Budsquire once more to hear how the story continues. During a storm, the brother fails a challenge; his sister steps in to battle for him, while he departs home believing that becoming a Thunderstorm Thornblade is his sole means of protecting her. The storyteller finally reveals her identity: she is Aria, a Bloomville writer sharing her latest book with you. She also asks you to watch for Awen should you encounter her in Rosetower Woods.

You know it worked when the Flowers and Thorns – Sea of Flowers objective closes out and the reward screen pays out Glimmer, Sparkling Crystal, and Credits. Open the Log afterwards to claim the chapter completion rewards, which sit separately from the section payout.

RewardAmount
Safaris1,000
Glimmer30
Credits22,500
Sparkling Crystals30

Chapter progress is tracked on top of that. You get 1 Report Card at 25 percent, 50 percent, and 75 percent completion of The Legend of Flowers and Thorns, and 1 Irisalis Petal once the whole chapter hits 100 percent.

What unlocks after Sea of Flowers

This is quest 1 of 4. The remaining three sections all take place in Rosetower Woods, which the map rates at levels 44 to 51, so there is a sizeable gap between the tea party and what comes next.

Flowers and Thorns – Rosetower Wood

The clues “A Great Menace?” and “The Land in Happy Bloom” point you at the Maze of Thorns in the eastern part of Rosetower Woods. You beat the First Lethal Thorn guarding the entrance, get an audience with Princess Melloblum, then work out why she can no longer perform the Dance of Blissful Bloom by collecting the four Maze of Thorns tales scattered through the ruins and reporting back.

Sightseeing

Melloblum’s dance changes the woods, and the follow-up asks you to go look at it. Tour the transformed wilderness, Twine with a Budsquire and strike a Cubbo’s rose to pick up a Stamen of Cubbo’s Rose, then climb for a view of the Whitesnow Rose at the top of Whiterose Tower. This section pays out 400 Safaris, 30 Glimmer, 4,500 Credits, and 30 Breezy Plains Dewdrop Crystals.

A Fragrant Journey: Rosetower Woods

The clue “A Perfumer Who Ventured Deep into Danger?” leads to Awen, Aria’s sister, during the day. Meet her at Whiterose Tower, find a way inside, and read the notes that explain where her scent actually comes from.

Inside, you Twine with a Dewy, gather nectar at the top of the tower, and brew it at the Dewy nest to make the Whitesnow Rose Aromathyst for Awen. The workshop also needs unjamming: ram the iron crate into the stone wall at the end of the track, then smash the stones caught in the gears. Handing over the aromathyst gets you the legendary perfume Home, which is later used in the Fragrant Dream quest.

If you only care about clearing the first section, everything ends once the storyteller finishes her tale and the Log hands over the rewards. The Rosetower Woods sections can wait until your team is in the forties, and the chapter progress you banked here stays put until you get there.
