Riven Splicing lets you fuse two existing stats on a Riven Mod into a single, all-new combo stat that you cannot roll through normal cycling. The feature runs on a token called Riven Splicers, and it only works when two of your Riven’s traits line up with a predefined recipe. There are 22 recipes that produce 18 combo stats in total.
Quick answer: Use a Riven Splicer to combine two stats that match one of the 22 recipes. The two traits are consumed and replaced by the combo stat plus a new random trait.

How Riven Splicing works
When you select a Riven, a Riven Splicing menu shows every Riven you own and highlights the ones that hold a valid trait combination. Pick a highlighted Riven and it displays which of its stats can be spliced. If a single Riven contains more than one valid recipe, all options are shown and you choose which pair to splice.
Splicing always requires confirmation, so you see the exact combo stat before committing. Once applied, the two source traits are consumed, and the combo stat plus one random trait take their place. If either consumed trait was a negative, the random replacement is also a negative; if both were positive, the replacement is positive. This keeps the Riven’s mix of positive and negative traits identical to what it had before.
You know the splice succeeded because the combo stat appears on the Riven and stays there. It is treated as locked and persists through every future cycle at the standard 3,500 Kuva cost, so recycling only rerolls the other stats.

Before you can splice anything, you need an unveiled Riven whose two traits match a recipe. A veiled Riven carries a challenge that must be completed to reveal its stats, and combo-based challenges are common. Here is one reliable way to clear a melee combo challenge.

All Riven Splicing combo stat recipes
Each recipe needs two specific traits. The tables below group the combos by where they can appear.
Melee-only combo stats
| Trait 1 | Trait 2 | Spliced trait |
|---|---|---|
| Heavy Attack Efficiency | Additional Combo Count | Heavy Attack Damage |
| Heavy Attack Efficiency | Combo Duration | Heavy Attack Windup Speed |
| Attack Speed | Range | Parry Angle |
| Damage | Attack Speed | Slam Damage |
Parry Angle is a niche trait. It widens the cone in which a held melee weapon automatically intercepts and deflects enemy fire.
Ranged weapon combo stats
These apply to Rifles, Shotguns, Pistols, Kitguns, Archguns, and most companion weapons.
| Trait 1 | Trait 2 | Spliced trait |
|---|---|---|
| Damage | Zoom | Weakpoint Damage |
| Damage | Multishot | Weakpoint Damage |
| Critical Chance | Zoom | Weakpoint Critical Chance |
| Critical Chance | Multishot | Weakpoint Critical Chance |
| Magazine Capacity | Reload Speed | Ammo Efficiency |
| Weapon Recoil | Ammo Maximum | Ammo Efficiency |
| Ammo Maximum | Reload Speed | Magazine Reload While Holstered |
| Ammo Maximum | Magazine Capacity | Magazine Reload While Holstered |
| Damage | Status Chance | Status Damage |
Combo stats for any Riven
| Trait 1 | Trait 2 | Spliced trait |
|---|---|---|
| Toxin | Heat | Gas |
| Toxin | Electric | Corrosive |
| Toxin | Cold | Viral |
| Heat | Electric | Radiation |
| Heat | Cold | Blast |
| Electric | Cold | Magnetic |
| Damage vs Corpus | Damage vs Grineer | Damage vs Orokin |
| Damage vs Corpus | Damage vs Infested | Damage vs Techrot |
| Damage vs Infested | Damage vs Grineer | Damage vs Scaldra |
The last three are faction damage multipliers. They can double-dip for specific status applications in the same way Bane mods do.

Rules that govern spliced stats
Splicing changes how the Riven behaves from that point on, so a few rules matter before you spend a Splicer.
- One spliced stat per Riven. There is a hard limit of a single combo stat on any Riven.
- Stat count is preserved. After splicing, the number of positive and negative traits never changes again through cycling.
- Positive and negative can splice. The combo stat is always positive, and the random replacement takes the negative slot.
- Source traits can return. The two consumed stats can reappear as new independent rolls later.
A spliced stat counts as locked, but it does not use up your lockable trait slot and does not double your Kuva cost. That means you can keep the combo stat and still lock one other trait as usual, giving you two frozen stats while cycling for the rest. Locking a separate trait on top of the spliced one does double the cost, as normal trait locking always does.
If the Riven begins with just two stats, splicing adds the combo stat and one random stat; subsequent cycles continue producing two-stat rolls. For a god-roll target, seek a negative modifier paired with either three positive modifiers or two, allowing that negative to enhance the stronger positives.
You can also unsplice. Removing the spliced stat lets you cycle it off and free the layout again, but it will not restore the two original traits you combined.
A Riven with three positive elemental stats, such as +Heat, +Cold, and +Toxin, offers three combo choices at once (Blast, Viral, or Gas). Pick one, keep two elements, and you can later chase a second hybrid by rerolling for two fresh elemental stats.

How to get Riven Splicers
Riven Splicers come exclusively from Glacial Defiance, a six-player long-form weekly mission. You earn them as an end-of-mission reward there, and that is the only known source for the token.
When Riven Splicing releases
Riven Splicing is tied to Glacial Defiance rather than the Iceblade of Narin update. It is expected to arrive in a separate release during the window of September 23 to October 15, 2026. No exact date and time have been confirmed within that window.
Trait Locking ships with Iceblade of Narin, but Riven Splicing does not. If you cycle Rivens before Glacial Defiance goes live, keep the recipe pairings in mind so you do not scrap a Riven that already holds two splice-ready stats.
